CHAPTER 35: THE PAST, PAMPER (2)

CHAPTER 35: THE PAST, PAMPER (2)

The next day, as soon as he woke up, Binh An saw all the servants presented in front of him. They were quick, prompt, and obviously quite experienced at their job. The whole process of serving him with supper and taking care of his personal hygiene in the morning went on very smoothly. Until Binh Anh was officially awake, he was well, neatly dressed and ready to leave the room at any time.

After that, Binh An was presented with all the books, scrolls, and a lot of other learning materials that normal disciples of generations couldn’t possibly possess. All of them are of the best and rare quality, previously only meant for the elders or high-positioned officials to use, now they are allowed to be shared with him. This showed how generous and welcoming they are towards the little child while also showing the importance of his role to the sect.

On his first day, he will meet with his private martial-art master, a direct mentor who would accompany him on this thorny and rough path of cultivation.

After all the proper preparation, the little child was led to an empty classroom with all the bamboo windows opened, letting inside layers of sunlight and cool breezes intertwined. The tables and the cushions were all lined up precisely in every inch, ready to welcome the disciples to meet with their teacher.

Binh An was one step at the bamboo door when the door was opened by the guide. Inside, sitting upright on the platform was a slender figure who had reached his late period of life, yet, his eyes were still as bright as the sky with thin dignified lips; his hands was calmly turning each and every page and his sleeves was lightly swayed by the wind; his lonely presence was contract to the broad of the whole space, yet, he exuded an aura that filled the room with wiseness and composure. Binh An could not help but hesitate to step in.

Fortunately, the moment that the elder saw Binh An, his face relaxed, his thin lips that seemed so cold slightly curled up, revealed a warm, gentle smile; his eyes thinning from joy, revealing the fine lines in the outer corner of his eyes, fair enough, his whole face was aged beautifully.

He raised his voice slowly.

"This child, seeing his master and yet you are still standing there? Why don't you come over and pay your respect?"

Hearing this gentle voice, although the words were a bit reproachful, it sounded more like a dear whisper of guidance.

Binh An immediately stepped in and stood in front of his master, knelt down to the ground to pay his respect. The master was satisfied, touched his head in return, helped him to get back up on his feet and let out a soft, loving voice again.

"Today, you and I will officially connect as master and disciple, I will try my best to convey to you every knowledge and every skill that I own, and you as a disciple will try his best to embrace them, master them and develop them to your own ability, then later on, practice them to aid, to accommodate and to do good deeds to the world. In addition, I hope that we will get along well on this journey together.”

Binh An was touched by his words, he immediately replied with no hesitation on his tone.

"Yes, Master."

Without being old enough to be aware of others’ personal space, after finishing his words, he then ran over to hug his elder master. This child, although surrounded by everyone's respect and admiration, what he was more familiar with was the tenderness and the warmth of a person's embrace.

The elder master was a little surprised at first, but the very next second, he burst into laughter.

"This child is really… your manners are still very poor, how can you casually hug your master like this?"

"I'm sorry. I can't hold back. I will make amends later.” The child replied while still hanging in his master’s lap.

Against his own words, the master still held onto the child, stroked his small back and reassured it.

That day, Binh An finally found solid and secure guidance through his wise master. He finally started his cultivation path.

From this point on onward, everything went extremely smooth. It appeared as though the youngster had arrived where he belonged.

In some of the early days, the child still lingered about his home, longing for his mother's figure, recalling the warm embrace on his mother's lap and the soft murmurs of her sweet voice in his ears. So much so that he never went a day without taking out the jade pendant to contemplate it. The jade pendant was shiny-polished, reflecting a part of his memory of his mother's protection, thus, every night, he often put it under his pillow to sleep and so, he always slept very well and deeply, dreaming of his mother's proud face.

After growing to more and more familiar with this place over the weeks, and plus the fact that everyone here, from young people to elders, welcomed the youngster with bright smiles, loving words, and dedication, praises were given out as plentiful as three meals a day and as many as the stars in the sky, the child no longer felt lonely and no longer relying on a piece of jade for comfort.

After three days, he had already mastered every nook and cranny of the Golden Flower sect's mountain setting.

After a week, he had already achieved a swarm of small companions that were constantly conversing and chit-chatting with each other.

After a month, the boy appeared to have broken free from the past and stopped clinging to the former familiarity; everyone saw this shift and exhibited greater respect and affection for him.

His master couldn't help but be pleased; his previously stern face had become bright and rosy, as if he had relieved his youth one more time in this lifetime. Not just him, but all the seniors and elders were overjoyed and satisfied.

The child had an exceptional ability to comprehend, and his ability to demonstrate was even more outstanding. In just a day or two of studying, he could seamlessly convert all he had read on paper into practice.

He excelled not only in his martial arts lessons, but also in all aspects of life, from ceremonial rituals to all types of art, such as composing poetry, playing musical instruments, and picture painting. He appeared to have fully outperformed his peers, standing at the peak that no one else could reach, full of talents and excellency. Surely his former life must be a reincarnated deity, bringing laughter and peace to all, otherwise no one could come up with the reasons behind all of his brilliance.
