CHAPTER 14: THE UNDERWORLD, ESCAPE (3)

CHAPTER 14: THE UNDERWORLD, ESCAPE (3)

Despite the turmoil of the search, two black figures faced each other on the high roof, the air grew tense and suffocating, both were alert of the other party, their eyes flashed with red light emitted from the ward, afraid that a blink of an eye would lead them into their disadvantages. His opponent was dressed in black from head to toe, and the hat was covered with a thin black veil, ensuring that the figure's face hidden below it could not be identified; yet, Binh An felt that the figure was both familiar and unfamiliar, so he kept his cool and asked again.

"Not hand me over to the Emperor of the Underworld? So, you have betrayed the Emperor?"

His opponent immediately answered.

"Betrayal or loyal will not matter, as I and the Underworld Emperor have the same opinion for your outcome. I just don't want to waste time on another cumbersome and useless process. You should know that your tattered soul won't exist much longer, with or without the acknowledgement of the Emperor!"

Binh An could only assume the opponent's attitude based on their voice because they didn't reveal their face. As expected, this voice was not only piercing and angry, but it also conveyed a deep hatred, as if the other person was still making plans to kill him while they ate and slept.

They must have been an acquaintance in his previous life, or else he couldn't think of a reason why a magistrate would insist on ending him with their own hands.

“You seem to despise me more than the Underworld Emperor, is there a reason? Have I done anything to you in the past?"

“For sure! That’s unnecessary to ask! Other than enemies, did you have any friends!"

This one sentence was so true that it mercilessly cut through Binh An's heart.

"Why do you have to say it out loud?" Binh An sneered, then tilted his head to the side, frowned. "But I can't recall your figure or your voice; they're both so smooth and delicate; unlike any forces I have faced before. If you tell me what I did to you in my previous life, who knows, I could find it acceptable and stand there still, letting you do whatever you want to do."

“Use fewer words! Do you think you have other choices? Know your own end! There is no escape for your fate! Just be obedient and die as you're told!"

Binh An heard that, laughed, then sighed again.

“I AM waiting for someone to come and kill me! You see, I can't stand turning into those stinking hideous demons! Come kill me! I have no strength to resist, anyway!"

The Official frowned in disbelief.

"Really?"

Binh An even more determined.

"Yes! I am not someone who goes against his own word. However, I do claim my right to have some last words before dying. May I?"

The Official hesitated a little, still proceeding with their generosity.

"Go ahead! If something outrageous comes out of your mouth, prepare to die instantly!"

"Sure sure!" Binh An laughed then said. "I just want to know the identity of the person who will end my soul.”

Binh An really did mean what he meant. He wasn’t afraid of death and wasn’t too hung up on living either. However, he didn’t mean to die just under anyone’s hand. The only one who had the permission to take his life was definitely not this Official, and he was still waiting for that person to come down here, and meet them for the last time before letting them finish his soul.

But for now, he had to deal with this clingy Official, and if you want to beat the enemy, you have to know the enemy. Binh An had to find ways to reveal their identity. However, he knew things were not as easy as he’d planned when the Official coldly said.

Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

“A dead soul means there will be no chance of reincarnation, it wouldn’t matter whether you knew or not."

“Well, it wouldn’t have hurt you if I knew either. Do you perhaps fear that I might find out who you are?”

Hearing this, the Official didn't waste any more words, immediately swooped in with the spear in their hand and with extraordinary speed, aimed towards Binh An's skull and skewered.

Binh An quickly dodged to the side, to his surprise, the spear didn't reach his place, rather got stopped in the middle of the air while clashing with another unknown sword. Both weapons collided, creating a loud "clang" sound, and then quickly retreated to the two opposite sides.

The Official didn't expect someone else but them to find out the whereabouts of Binh An. Their rage reached to the max. Who had the audacity to interfere in the Official's affairs, let alone take this thug's side and protect him.

Binh An didn't need help but he wouldn’t refuse one either. He obediently crossed his legs and sat down on the roof, observing as the Official was forced to temporarily change their opponent and to fight this uninvited guest first.

Binh An had unexpected free time, which he spent monitoring the two fighting, learning that the power of this uninvited guest was not bad, in fact rather significant; even after fighting a dozen moves with the Official, the guest still had the upper hand and created a rather hard time for the Official.

At tenth move, even when the guest still held his advantage robustly, this person however decided not to bother with that Official any longer. He instantly drew Binh An and fled the scene.

Binh An was like a tree in the wind, which direction it blew, he would tipped along, whoever urged him to do anything unharmful to him, he would do it without arguing or hesitation; as a result, both of them departed the roof instantly, leaving the Official unprepared and stood confounded, only some seconds passed by did they started to chase after them.

The uninvited guest swiftly crossed the quite spacious rows of houses, taking advantage of the crowded and cramped streets, wanting to cut off that "tail". Binh An focused on rushing, still couldn't help but to exclaim. What a lively street, everything was full of affluence, the Underworld Emperor was indeed virtuous.

The unwanted guest and he didn't have the time to gossip; the motives of this person were still unknown, but the person who opposes the one who wanted to kill him would most likely take the opposite stance.

Sure enough, the two crossed the street, got out of the Red Ward, returned to the vast desert land without stopping; and when they saw no one was after them, they stopped walking altogether.

When the desert sandstorm struck, the wind speed increased, making Binh An's vision hazy, but he could still make out the figure in front of him. Binh An did not see them taking the initiative to talk, so he inquired first.

"The hero who had saved this “damsel” in distress, please announce your name and your purpose, if it happened to be the same as mine, we can manage to plan a way ahead in time.”

The other person heard that, immediately stopped, turned back, raised a deep voice and said.

"You've seen it all, haven't you?"

"What?"

“Do you…remember anything?”

“Of course I remembered everything very clearly! That's why people don't like me because I hold grudges. I just wanted to ask what you're talking about."

“This is no joke!” That person quickly approached, so fast that it invaded Binh An's personal space, which startled him a bit.

Binh An could not see this man's masked face, but he must be very serious.

“There is not much time left. The chasm has opened, Yin Binh will soon come and patch it up. I just hope I find the right person. I hope that you, later, return to a new life, you don't get caught up in fortune and forget about the unfortunate. Remember what happened today, remember the unjust souls that have been banished, please think of a way to save them.”

“Save them? Save who? Do you know who I was in my past life? I couldn’t even save myself."

"It doesn't matter who you were in the past, I think I've seen enough and known enough."

“Still not enough! It’s not just the quality alone, before you want to ask someone for help, it is best to see if they are willing to help you or not!”

The sentence was just finished. The other guest didn't hold back, decisively hitting him with their palm, sending him flying backwards. Surprisingly, what caught Binh An's back, was not the red and gray sand of the never-ending desert, but a chasm, a very large black chasm with a strong vortex force.

Binh An did not have time to leave the question "So who the hell are you?", he was quickly swallowed by the chasm and the day quickly turned into the pit black night.

Just a second later, next to the other guest, a Yin Binh appeared, that guard didn’t comment a word, as well as having anything to do with the guest, the Guard just walking intently in front of the chasm, started spewing a sticky black silk, and there, the hole was quickly patched.
