The rest of the day was surprising quiet. Cody knew word would spread about what he said in the canteen and that his confirmation of the rumours about the motorbike would kick the story into overdrive, but to his surprise, no one approach him to ask about the motorbike for the rest of the day. No staff, no students, no one!
Cody did not know if the principal gave any orders about the matter, but he would not be surprised if she did. It was the only thing that made sense.
He did notice that a lot of students, and teachers, keep glancing at him, whenever he walked past but no one came up to him to ask about the motorbike and cultivation system. It was strange, and while Cody liked the attention, he could not for the day to end.
As the final school bell chimed, Cody eagerly packed his bag and headed towards the school parking lot. He couldn't help but feel a mixture of nervousness and excitement coursing through his veins. Despite the ride he gave Mr Oster, this was the first time he would be carrying someone over a long distance on his motorbike. Luckily, he had the knowledge of the biker in his head, so he was not a total rookie. Cody just hoped there wasn’t that much difference between real-life and the knowledge he had gained.
When he stepped out of the school building, Cody spotted Kitty waiting by his motorbike. She had a mixed look on her face as she stared at the cultivation vehicle. It looked like she was wondering if she made the right decision asking for the ride. Cody understood her hesitation. The motorbike was a brand-new cultivation vehicle, which has yet to be certified by the Cultivation League. Even if Kitty knew what it was and seen him riding it, there was always a amount of danger when riding a non-certified vehicle.
Cody walked towards the girl. When Kitty noticed him, she looked at him and smiled. Her radiant smile lit up the entire carpark, and it took every ounce of self-control for Cody not to trip over his feet.
“Hey, Cody!” Kitty greeted cheerfully, her voice floating on the wind.
She sound excited. Cody couldn't help but wonder if it was real or an act. “Hi, Kitty. You sure about this? You know the school bus is still here.”
They turned to look at the school bus. Everyone on the bus, including the driver Luis, was looking at them. Like the rest of the school, Cody was certain the students on the bus knew about what was said in the canteen and that he was giving a ride to Kitty. For the first time today, Cody wondered what the other students thought about the matter. Kitty did not care. Instead, she laughed.
“Looks like they are waiting for a show. What do you say we give them one?” Kitty's laughter echoed through the parking lot as she sauntered towards Cody. She put her hand seductively on his chest, and Cody’s mind went blank.
Keep cool. Give her something but keep cool.
The thoughts of the biker saved him. Cody’s body reacted to advise instinctively. He gave Kitty a small smile, a raised eyebrow, but that was all. He could tell from her expression that Kitty was surprised and impressed.
“A show? You sound as if you want to be an actress.” Cody teased.
“Acting is overrated. Actresses don’t earn much unless they become a big star anyway. I rather be rich and powerful.” Kitty said as she leaned towards Cody. “Failing that, I would rather have an exciting life.”
“Then, are you ready for the ride of your life?” Cody asked with a smile.
“The ride of my life?” Kitty got closer and whispered in his ear. “Be careful, Cody. Some girls may have the wrong idea when they hear that.”
The innuendo was clear, but the voice of the biker in his vision was clearer. Cody snorted and looked Kitty in the eye. “Tell that to me after having the wind in your hair and your heart pounding in ear. Nothing will be the same after that.”
Ignoring Kitty’s disbelieving looks, Cody quickly averted his gaze, making a mental note to find a cultivation technique to keep his hands from sweating profusely. He hopped on the bike, and his heart raced when Kitty hopped on behind him.
“What do I do?” Kitty asked.
“Put your arms around my waist and hold tight. We will be going fast.”
Kitty did as she was instructed, and Cody couldn't help but admire Kitty's poise. Clutching onto his waist, Kitty leaned in close to him, and Cody could feel her silky hair tickling his cheek.
“Okay, first rule. Don’t fight the bike in the turns. Try to keep your upper body in line with mine and stay upright. If you think we are going too fast, tap me on the shoulder or waist. That will be our ‘slow-down’ signal.” Cody instructed. His should-be pillion rider just gave him a dark look.
“You do know I am at a higher cultivation level than you right? You think I will be afraid of a little speed?”
“This is your first time. Better to make everything before we start.” Cody replied with a chuckle.
“Alright, Cody, you gave me your warning. Now show me how great this vehicle truly is!” Kitty said, sounding like she shouldn’t wait to start.
Without wasting a moment, Cody revved the cultivation engine and zoomed out of the parking lot. He heard loud laughter and realized it was from Kitty. Her excitement was contagious, and Cody could not help but chuckled as the wind whipped against their faces.
In theory, this was not what a rider should do when carrying a pillion rider for the first time. Cody should have given Kitty a longer briefing on what to expect while on the ride, and what to do when they were making turns. He should also have made sure she was wearing the right kit for riding a motorbike. A helmet, a jacket, proper gloves and a pair of sturdy jeans.

Cody was doing a lot of things wrong, but he did not care. Those rules he got from the biker from from an age when humans rule the earth. Cultivators were different.
Cultivators were stronger, tougher, and they could take more punishment. Besides, Cody did not know any of these rules when he rode for the first time, and it turned out fine. A cultivator in a higher level than Cody, Kitty would probably be insulted if he tried to protect her too much.
So, Cody rode on with Kitty's arms tightly around his waist. And it was tight, but Cody was not going to complain. It was her first time on a motorbike, and it was understandable why she was clutching him tightly. Cody could sense her nervousness and her excitement. He could also smell her shampoo and feel her breasts pressed against his back. It felt good.
Cody slowed and took a left turn. Despite his desire to go fast and impress Kitty, Cody knew there was little need to do the crazy stuff like heavy acceleration or taking corners at speed. Just the thrill of being on the back of a motorcycle for the first time would be will enough for Kitty to feel the speed and exhilaration.
Cody applied the brakes and realized there was a change. Knowledge from the biker told Cody having a pillion makes the rear brake of a motorbike more effective. The pillion rider’s weight was over the rear wheel which means there was less weight transfer going forward. The rear brake was suddenly his greatest friend but there was an issue Cody need to be careful of. Cody would need to apply the brakes carefully to avoid Kitty giving him headbutts at the back of his head.
So, with their hair whipping in the wind, Cody rode on with Kitty's arms tightly around his waist. Cody kind of liked it. He could get used to the feeling of a girl grabbing him tightly.
Cody turned left into the long stretch of road that leads to the suburbs. It was the end a beautiful day with the setting sun casting long shadows over the road. As the road was quiet and deserted, only the sound of the engine could be heard, and it felt to Cody that all was well with the world. Cody had never been happier.
It usually took the school bus less than twenty minutes to reach Advancetown, it took the motorbike far less than that. As they rode on, they passed several people walking along the road. Most stared at them with odd expressions on their faces. Cody had already seen these faces in the morning. but it was Kitty’s first time seeing them and her laughter echoed through the streets whenever they passed someone with an open mouth.
They were soon riding along a stretch of road known as the Advancetown Loop which was where Kitty would be getting off. Cody stopped his motorbike beside a a large brick building on the corner of the street near where the school bus usually stopped at. It was Kitty’s cube to get off, and she did so without a word.
As Kitty swings her legs over the back of the bike, Cody tilted his body to the opposite direction could hear and he could sworn he heard Kitty sighing as she got off. Cody lowered the sidestand and looked at his passenger. She was glowing.
“What do you think? Did you enjoy the experience?” Cody asked.
“Yes, I did,” Kitty admitted in a rush. “And it was an experience. When is your family selling these motorbikes? How much do they cost? I am definitely getting my parents to buy one.”
“Not so fast. I can tell my parents if you are interested in buying a vehicle, but there’s a long way to go before that. Certification by the League-”
“Who cares about the League? I want one. No one stop you from riding, why should they stop me? Get me a price and I’ll pay it.”
Cody was surprised by Kitty’s insistence. He quickly figured out she was still on a high from the ride and tried to lower her expectations. “It’s not that simple Kitty. Do you know how to drive? Yes? Well, remember the driving lessons you have to take before getting a license? Riding a motorbike is even more difficult than driving. Riding a motorbike is very different from being a passenger, you might not like it. And even if you do, you will need lessons on how to ride.”
“Oh, and who will be giving these lessons? You?” Kitty asked with a frown, and I realized another problem with our motorbikes.
Someone needs to teach people how to ride the motorbikes!
“Well, most likely my mother. The family haven’t really discussed it yet.” Cody instinctively tried to push the responsibility to his mother. Although he taught Chuck and Nancy how to ride, he had no desire to be a riding instructor and between his two parents, his mother was the better teacher.
“Why not?” Kitty asked.
“What’s that old saying, ‘Don’t count your chicken before they hatched?’ We don’t intend to get ahead of ourselves.”
A moment passed and Kitty reluctantly nod. “That’s smart. But ask your parents. You said you would ask them to allow me to help test these motorbikes, and after today, I would really like to do that.”
“I am certain I did not agree with anything. I merely said I would ask my parents if you could assist us.”
Kitty scoffed, before turning serious. “I don’t feel any different though. I’m not sure if the…ride helps with my cultivation at all.”
Cody filed that away and he wasn’t surprised. The cultivation system he lucked into was based around the rider of the motorbike, so it made sense the pillion rider would not gain much, if anything, from the ride. They would need a new system for that.
Cody then looked into himself. He frowned. Cody was less than a third of the way home and his Essence was already lower than it was this morning after his trip to school. It looks like having a pillion rider require more Essence from the rider, Essence the rider would not be able to recover just from the Cultivation System he invented. Luckily, he still had enough to get home. Cody decided he would bring along some Essence bars in the future. They were expensive, but a cultivator could recover some Essence after eating one.
Filing the idea away for later, Cody promised Kitty he would speak to Chuck and Nancy about her request before getting back on his motorbike. He rode off towards Slamptown, keeping control of his speed. Cody could have poured in more Essence into the motorbike and reached Slamptown quicker, but he did not want to risk running out of Essence before reaching home.
It would be embarrassing.
Within half an hour, Cody reached the town. Several of the residents turned and looked as he rode pass, but there were no longer any dropping jaws like this morning. Cody knew this would happn as people got used to the motorbikes, but he was surprised how quickly it did happen. He thought it would take weeks or even months for people get used to the motorbikes.
Cody reached his house and rode his motorbike into the barn. It was quiet and Chuck was nowhere to be seen. Cody parked his motorbike and went to the house.
“Hey, you’re finally back!” Chuck called out the moment Cody walked through the door. Chuck and Nancy were sitting on the couch, staring at the television. One look told Cody it was the latest episode of Cultivation Quest.
Usually, Cody would happily join them, but the way Chuck had spoken made him pause. Chuck sounded almost... disappointed?
“Yeah,” Cody answered as he kicked off his shoes. He flopped onto the couch beside them, mentally prepared for disappointment. “So, how did it go?”
There was silence. A long silence, then Nancy turned to face Cody. Her eyes were wide, and her smile stretched from ear to ear.
“It went great!”
“What?” Cody was stunned, before a grin appeared splitting his face. “That's great!”
His parents laughed and Chuck gave Nancy a light punch on the shoulder. “Oh, you gave it up too quickly. Didn’t you see his face? We could have so much fun with him.”
Cody frowned at his father and tried to kick him. Chuck lifted his legs out of the way as Nancy chuckle loudly at their antics.
“So, how did it really go?” Cody asked again.
“The League was very impressed with the scooter and the staff there couldn't have been more pleasant. She was certain we’ll passed the inspection with flying colours.” Nancy answered after getting her laughter under control.
