Cody saw the school bus at the end of the street. He never felt it before, but Cody now realized that the bus was slow. It was travelling safely along the road, and as long as Luis managed to get the students to school on time, all was well. Many would argue that this was the ‘correct’ way to drive, and Cody had never disagreed with the sentiment. He does now, and a smile broke on Cody’s face.
This is going to be epic!
He released the brakes and the engine roared. The jaws of two men standing by the side of the road dropped to the ground as Cody sped up. Moments later, Cody was besides the bus. Remembering the skills he gained from the biker in his vision, Cody played with the hand levers and a loud purr came from the chopper. Heads turned, and Cody could see open jaws when the students saw the source of the sound. He was recognized and Cody looked at his follow students with a huge grin on his face.
It was just the reaction he was hoping for.
Cody felt his grin getting bigger when he saw the reactions of Luis. The bus driver had turned his head as well, and the look of shock on his face was priceless!
Cody laughed and sped off. He left the school bus in the dust and raced away from it. It was childish, but so fun. All thoughts about maintaining the speed limit were gone as he turned onto the road leading to the school. Cody saw several students walking along the road on their way to school, and everyone turned to look at him as he passed. Cody revel in the attention.
Soon, Cody arrived at school and turned into the school compound. He discovered a problem. He has no place to park the motorbike! There were a few parking lots for the teachers and staff, and a lot for the school bus, but none for the motorbike. It was an oversight Chuck and Nancy should have realized. They should have known there is no parking lots for motorbikes! Cody mentally stopped himself when the thought came to him. It was wrong.
Cody felt it in his bones. If this thought came to him last week, Cody would have no problem blaming his parents for this oversight, but this was not their fault.
Cody was the biker. He was the one riding the motorbike. He was the one enjoying the freedom of the open road. This was on him.
Cody felt the Essence within him stirring. An energy urged within his body as Cody took a deep breath. Cody could feel that his cultivation has improved, that his meridians had open, and understood the reason for it.
It was him. This was the biker in his vision. This was the way he lived his life.
Nancy was right. More than just a stimulation of his Essence, Cody’s cultivation was tied to his vision. To the biker in his vision, the motorbike was more than just a mode of transport and a biker was more than just the rider. Being a biker was a way of life.
A life that requires the biker to admit his mistakes and take responsibility for his own actions, even when it would be easier to blame someone else for his troubles. Just like how a biker need to be connected to his motorbike when on the open road, a biker need to be connected to himself. A biker need to know himself, and take responsibility was his own actions. Cody could feel that there was more to it than this, but it was a good start.
He could not wait to tell Chuck and Nancy about his discovery.
Cody stopped his motorbike beside the parking lots for the teachers and turned off his vehicle. Cody wasn’t sure if he was allowed to park there but he would deal with it if it was a problem. Cody got off the motorbike, not worried about it being stolen as he was on school grounds and the motorbike was keyed to turned on only to his Essence signature.
He was about to walk away when a car drove into the school and horned at him. Cody felt a wave of annoyance rise within him as he turned to look at the offending driver. He saw that it was Mr Oster. The T&T teacher quickly parked his car besides Cody’s motorbike and practically flew out of his car. Cody shouted a greeting while wondering what Mr Oster wanted, but the teacher ignored him.
The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
His teacher was far more interested in his motorbike. Mr Oster was bending down to look at the motorbike and Cody was bemused by the look on his face. There was both a frown and excitement on his face.
“What is this?” Mr Oster asked after a moment.
“It is called a motorbike, a type of vehicle used by humans before the Cultivation Age.” Cody answered Mr Oster’s question with pride.
“Humans made this? Why have I never seen this type of vehicle before?” Mr Oster asked with evident surprise.
“Unlike the car and buses, it never made the transition to the Cultivation Age. You need to search deep into the Cultivation Net to get any information on it.”
“So, this vehicle is something like the aeroplanes and ships. Vehicles that went out of use after the revival of Essence.” Mr Oster murmured as he began to look carefully at the handlebars and dials on the motorbike.
Cody looked at his teacher in puzzlement, quietly wondering what his teacher meant by ‘aeroplanes and ships’. Cody knew that aeroplanes were no longer used in the Cultivation Age, but he knew that ships were. Airships were the main mode of transport for travel between the continents. There was no way the teacher did not know that.
As Cody wondered about his teacher’s musing, the teacher in question turned his attention to the front of the motorbike. According to what Chuck had dug out, humans usually built something called a headlight at the front of a motorbike, but Cody’s chopper did not have that. The front of the motorbike looked a little bare and seem to be missing something.
Mr Oster was looking at the motorbike with an intensity Cody never knew he had. The students of the Venspur West High all thought of Mr Oster as a ‘cool’ teacher, one of the teachers who seldom got angry at students. Even when you sleep in his class, he would choose to ignore you.
Cody coughed, suddenly feeling uncomfortable.
Luckily, Mr Oster ignored Cody’s cough. He was still staring at the motorbike, careful not to touch anything. Chuck had told Cody that one of the principal rules when inspecting new unknown cultivation artefacts was to not touch anything without taking the necessary precautions. Mr Oster had not cast any protection techniques on himself yet, so he wasn’t touching anything. Cody wonder if his teacher knew any protection techniques. As a Mortal-Two cultivator now, it may be time for Cody to learn some techniques himself.
Remembering what he did in class on Friday, Cody felt a little guilty and stepped forward. He politely informed his teacher what the various levers and buttons were for, and then gave him a demonstration by riding his bike around the carpark.
The T&T teacher listened to Cody’s explanation and kept an eye on Cody as his student rode. When Cody returned to Mr Oster’s side after the small round, the teacher immediately asked if he could ride the motorbike.
Cody immediately rejected him.
Cody was not about to let anyone ride on his motorbike, but he did offer to take Mr Oster for a ride. Mr Oster agreed and sat down behind Cody. A big smile appeared on the teacher’s face like magic.
The love of the motorbike is hard to understand for those who don’t ride but it often become a passion for those who do. Seeing his teacher’s smile, Cody was willing to bet Mr Oster would be one of those who would be passionate about motorbikes.
Even if he was sitting in the bitch seat.
The thoughts came to Cody, and he puzzled over them. He had an inkling that ‘bitch seat’ means the seat behind the rider, but he had no idea why it was called that. Cody also had no idea why it sounded like a derogatory term.
Since having his visions, Cody had been having these thoughts and knew they were from the biker in his vision. Cody knew the thoughts were having an influence on him and wonders if he should be more careful. Cody did not want these alien thoughts to control him.
Cody rode around the carpark with Mr Oster behind him. It was a short ride, but his teacher seems to enjoy it. However, when they returned to the spot where they started, two other people were there waiting for them.
The first was Mr Frank, Cody’s Accumlation Method teacher. The other was a woman Cody seldom see. A scarlet-haired woman wearing a black power-suit, a blue belt around her waist, and a black bandana around her forehead, it was the principal of the school, Gina Moongraze.
“Hey, look what one of our students brought to school.” Mr Oster laughed as Cody stopped his bike in front of the duo.
“What is it?”
Hearing Mr Frank’s question, Cody again explained what the motorbike was and the history behind it. Both the principal and Accumlation teacher looked very interested in the motorbike, especially when I said that it was modified from a vehicle the humans used in the past. It was Principal Moongraze who asked the next question.
“Why did you bring this motorbike to the school?”
