YEAR: 2011
3 hours passed inside the clinic, during that time Kosuke was rushed into a surgical room for an operation, meanwhile another doctor took care of Izumi’s injuries, cleaning his now stubs for pinkies and wrapping them in bandages. After Izumi properly met the two men that saved him and Kosuke they told him what happened and afterwards they all waited together for news about Kosuke’s surgery.
As the three hours had passed a doctor came towards the three of them
“Good news, the brain bleed was able to be fixed without any major problems however it seems like the impact that hit the child’s head did more damage than anticipated and he has a fractured skull but it should heal by itself in 6 to 8 weeks and it would be best to keep him away from any strenuous activity.”
A nurse guided the three of them to Kosuke’s room where he lay unconscious, Izumi ran to his side but Number 3 and 6 shared a look, both of them immediately took action sweeping up Kosuke and Izumi in their arms once more and escaped the clinic.
They began to run towards the nearby docks and as they arrived a small boat was docked, it bore a flag wielding twin pistols that were surrounded by a red circle and aboard the boat were two men dressed in similar attire to that of Number 3 and 6. The man at the helm turned to Number 3
“Ready to go?”
“Yeah, time to go.”
Within a minute the man at the helm turned on the engine and they were already out of the harbour. As they rested on the boat, Number 6 was attempting to keep Kosuke’s head steady, attempting to minimise the impacts from the waves that continued to crash into the boat.
As Number 3 sat at the back of the boat he felt a tug on his arm, he turned to look down and saw Izumi
“What is it?”
Unlike before Number 3 seemed to be more stern and collected than what Izumi saw previously
“Where are we going mister?”
“We’re taking a plane to our main base in the Philippines.”
“Why?”
Number 3 just sighed before answering
“We’re taking you and your friend in as new recruits for a special squad as a final favour to his parents.”
“What’s a recruit?”
“Someone who has recently joined the armed forces.”
Despite Number 3 thinking that Izumi would protest because of what he just experienced with the Butcher, he was shocked to see a smile appear on Izumi’s face instead
“So we get guns and knives?”
A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
Number 3 was still amazed at how unfazed Izumi seemed
“Yes, although you won’t be able to use them because you don’t have your pinkie fingers anymore.”
Hearing this, Izumi looked rather sad before asking more questions
“Why are my pinkies important?”
“It’s because when you lose your pinkie, you also lose half of your grip strength which is vital when handling weaponry such as guns and combat knives, but this doesn’t mean that you don’t get a weapon.”
As Number 3 said this, an even bigger smile spread across Izumi’s face
“What kind of weapon??”
“Not sure yet, you’ll have to find one yourself.”
Number 3 continued his conversation with Izumi for a while seeing how it distracted him from Kosuke until he finally turned his attention to the man at the helm
“Hey 4, how much longer till we arrive at the plane?”
The helmsman, Number 4, took a look at the navigation next to the wheel to see how far their destination was
“We got around 20 more minutes until we arrive. Hey 5 you’re checking the back properly right?”
The man looking out the scope of a rather large sniper rifle replied
“Yeah, oh wait a minute… It's those Slaughter House bastards! Thank god they only use close range weapons, this’ll be easy!”
After hearing that Slaughter House was approaching, despite knowing that they only used blades, everyone was immediately on guard. Number 6 yelled over to 5
“What are you waiting for? Take the shot!”
“Who should I go for first?”
“Does it matter!?”
“No but still!”
Number 3 was already fed up with 5 and 6’s back and forth banter
“Just take the bloody shot!”
“Cover your ears!”
Everyone on board immediately put their hands on their ears
*BANG!*
Number 4 couldn’t see what happened as he was focused on staying on course and yelled back to the others behind him
“Did ya get ‘em?”
“Nope! But I put a lovely hole in their boat!”
“Hah! Nice, aimed for the engine?”
“What do you take me for? Of course I did!”
As the members of Slaughter House continued their pursuit, they began to panic as they noticed the motor wasn’t running and that they had begun to slowly sink as the ocean devoured them.
The Numbers and Izumi all watched as the other boat sank, they all felt more relaxed and took it easy once again.
…
Soon enough the boat arrived near the airport but they were still quite far from shore, Izumi was confused until the boat went around a corner and then he saw it, a seaplane was docked on the far side of Oto Island (乙島) with the insignia of the Number’s camp painted on the sides, and to no one's surprise he was rather ecstatic
“We get to go on a mini plane!?”
Number 5 looked towards Izumi
“That’s right, been in a plane before?”
Izumi just shook his head
“Nope!”
Number 6 boarded first, still cradling Kosuke in his arms, soon after Number 5 helped Izumi inside by simply tossing him inside and the rest of them followed with Number 3 being the last one on after he grabbed the flag from the mast.
As everyone was confirmed aboard the seaplane Numbers 3 and 4 took their places in the cockpit and finally left the island that carried out the misfortune of two innocent children.
…
As they flew Kosuke regained consciousness, he sat up and looked around with a confused look on his face
“Wh- where am I? Who am I?”
