As they peeked through the gap the boys were greeted with a shocking sight.
Kaito was breathing heavily and biting down on a towel, blood was gushing down his right leg while Eve seemed to be removing shards of metal from his thigh.
“How did this happen Kaito?”
He managed to talk through the pain
“Boat shut down so I went to check on the engine and by the time I got to it it blew to bits. I’m lucky the only thing that got hit was my leg.”
“But that was a new engine wasn’t it?”
“Yeah it was, that means it blew up intentionally which in turn means ‘those guys’ are closing in on our house.”
Eve put down her tools for a moment and Kaito took the towel out of his mouth
“So what should we do?”
“Well if there were only two guys like I encountered a couple of days ago then it wouldn’t be a problem but…”
“But what Kaito?”
“If they’ve figured out where we live, a mass amount of them are gonna be sent here.”
“Well should we fight or run?”
“I… I don’t know, if we fight then the kids are going to be in danger but if we run they’ll just hunt us down again.”
“Hey, what about Akira? Any contact from him?”
“Nothing, let’s hope he’s alive for Izumi’s sake but there is a good chance he’s dead.”
“Damn.”
“Alright, now can I have my leg shrapnel free please?”
“Oh! My bad, here’s the towel.”
Eve passes the towel back to Kaito and he bites on it again. Eve grabs her tool and continues taking out the pieces of metal out of Kaito’s leg.
“Oh you’ll definitely need a tetanus shot after this.”
Eve pulls out a rather large rusted shard of metal that’s covered in blood and puts it in the pile of the other pieces
“Daht wab imn ma reg?!”
“What?”
Kaito takes the towel out of his mouth again

“Sorry I said ‘That was in my leg?!’ ”
“Geez keep it down, we don’t want the kids coming up here and seeing this.”
“My bad.”
“Oh I forgot to start dinner, hold this right here for a little bit.”
Eve passes the tool to Kaito as she walked to the door
“Surely that can wait? I’ve got metal in my leg and it hurts.”
She turned back to look at her husband and all the other metal pieces she took out of him
“Yeah yeah, be a big boy and suck it up you’ve had worse.”
“So mean.”
“I’ll be back in a minute.”
Izumi and Kosuke began to panic as they saw Eve walk towards the door so they began to hurry down the stairs as fast and quietly as they could but they could only make it halfway down the stairs before Eve opened the door and saw the two boys on the stairs.
“What are you boys doing on the stairs?”
Izumi put on a puppy dog face that not even a killer could say no to
“We were getting vewy hungwy.”
Kosuke caught onto what Izumi had in mind
“Yeah we were coming up to ask for dinner!”
Eve’s expression relaxed as she descended the stairs
“Alright boys come back down first, I’ll go to Sone (曽根) and get some sushi for takeaway, okay?”
Both of the boys looked delighted to hear that they’re getting sushi for dinner since they haven’t had any for a few days.
“What sushi (すし) do you two want? Or would you like some sashimi (刺身) instead?”
They thought about it for a moment until Izumi spoke up
“Sashimi (刺身)!”
Kosuke gave Izumi a funny look
“Nuh uh, sushi (すし)!”
“Sashimi (刺身)!”
“Sushi (すし)!”
They started to get louder but before their arguing got too bad Eve managed to calm both of them down.
“I’ll get both okay?”
Both of the boys seemed satisfied with that decision
“Okay”
They said at the same time.
“But since both of you were arguing, you have to come with me to get our food, so put your movie on pause.”
Izumi and Kosuke paused their movie, put their shoes on and waited at the door while Eve was looking for her car keys.
“Hey Izumi,”
Kosuke nudged Izumi to get his attention
“We have to make sure my mummy and daddy don’t know that we saw what they were doing in the bedroom, and forget what my daddy said about your daddy ok?”
Izumi nodded in understanding of Kosuke’s words
“Yeah I know, my daddy would never die.”
Eve opened the door and walked to the car with the boys following behind her.

They arrived at Sone (曽根) in ten minutes and the food was ready for pick-up by the time they arrived making for a quick transaction, but while Eve was still inside the restaurant Izumi had left the car and approached the crossing on the road.
Izumi managed to safely cross the road and began to walk up to the wire fencing, and stared into the canalas as if there was something in the water, but before he could take a good look Kosuke also got out of the car and shouted towards him
“Come back Izumi! You’re going to get in trouble with my mummy!”
“Ok Kosuke!”
Izumi ran back across the road to Kosuke and hopped back into the car and when the door shut Kosuke grabbed Izumi’s shoulders.
“Why did you go out Izumi? Remember there are bad people that are looking for us!”
“I thought I saw something peeking over at us from over there though.”
Izumi pointed to where he was just a few seconds ago
“And you thought it was a good idea to see what it was when it’s alo nighttime!?”
While Kosuke was shouting at Izumi, it wasn’t out of anger but out of concern for his friend and Izumi picked up on it
“Sorry Kosuke, I won’t do it again.”
“But what do you think you saw Izumi?”
“I thought it was a black cat that was sitting on the other side of the fence but then it disappeared.”
Before Kosuke could start to freak out, he saw Eve walking towards the car with the food in her arms.

They arrived back home with the food and the children immediately ran to the door but Eve called out to them before they could go inside
“Kosuke! Take this box inside and put it on the table but don’t eat it yet.”
Kosuke turned back and walked to his mother taking the box of sushi into his arms and heading back inside.
