There's a Limit to Eating Melons

There's a Limit to Eating Melons

The simple life continued for another six months.

During this time, Zi Yang scraped some more money together through a part-time job at the supermarket as a cashier.

Zi Ming has been getting pretty lively as well. He’s able to speak as fluently as a baby could and can already form sentences.

The massages for Zi Ming are still going on and Baize also secretly contributed some money and added some ingredients to the potions.

Even though he’s no potion maker, his experience allows him to correct the balance of the potion so as not to waste ingredients while allowing for optimized usage.

The evidence that this worked is that the origin deficiency has reduced from 71.3% to 60.7%.

Baize can guarantee this 0.3% improvement is due his optimization while saving at least 20% of Zi Yang’s money.

Zi Yang was elated when Baize explained this to him but Dark Void expressed contempt.

Anyway, Baize also discussed with Dark Void about becoming his godson’s music teacher and after repeated requests and much effort, he was finally able to secure a good teacher for his godson.

Alas, how Baize wished he could share the joy with Zi Yang.

But he could only let him waste a favor to the empress and request her to be a magic teacher.

A gleam flashed through his eyes.

Even though Baize recognized Zi Yang’s character and also recognized Zi Ming as his godson; a favor from the Void Empress had too heavy a weight.

This favor could earn Zi Yang at least a quarter of the ancient Donghuang country or, an opportunity to become a king ranked strongman.

Frankly, both the attendants were a little frightened to learn that the empress casually owed three favors to an eight-year-old.

If somehow Zi Yang learns of the empress’ identity and asks for something beyond measures, that would do no good to the empress.

Even if the possibility is small, as an attendant – their job is to make sure no harm or no possibility of a harm befalls their master.

After Zi Ming asks for a second favor, Baize will look for an opportunity to finish up the third one as well.

Baize was imagining while walking to the park where the Lady Mei had taken the daycare kids for playing.

Walking across the street, Baize was met with a horde of crowd eating melons.

Baize had picked up a lot of common people habits, but he had to say the one he most enjoys, is still eating melons while looking at the play.

If he had to phrase it, he would say this is the quintessential essence of our culture.

It is a must have. It allows one to learn from others mistake and improve upon things.

How beautiful.

“Ahhhh ahhhhh….”

His reverie was broken by heartbreaking sounds, and he watched as two kids were fighting with each other.

Rather one kid was being beaten and it was his kid that was being beaten.

Baize quickly turned into afterimages to separate the two and checked Zi Ming’s injuries.

The injuries were all superficial, some little wounds on elbows, knees and a little bleeding from the nose.

Nothing much.

Nothing much.

Little ancestor. Zi Yang is going to eat him alive!

He has seen how preciously Zi Ming is to Zi Yang. It is no exaggeration to say that Zi Yang’s life revolves around this little snot.

Looking around, Baize realized Lady Mei was busy handling other kids who were also all cries and snots.

The two of the quickly cooperated to get all the kids out, and back to the daycare.

The other kid’s elder brother also came out and took his brother away. There is no right or wrong in a kid’s fight.

There can be no right or wrong.

The melon eaters also dispersed and the everyone went their own ways.

At home, Lady Mei barely calmed down the weeping little boy and fed him asleep with a glass of milk and a sweet lullaby.

It was already close to dusk when Zi Yang came home.

He looked around and only saw Uncle Bai and Mama Mei around. Both Baize and Mama Mei looked worried.

His heart thumped.

What happened to Zi Ming?

Zi Yang ran like crazy.

His shoes slipped and he hit the flood with his head on, tears welled up in his eyes.

Regardless, Zi Yang stood up the fastest he’s ever had with this heavy body of his, and ran the fastest he ever could and came to Zi Ming’s room.

Opened the door and he was already panting with tongue out, his dogs’ eyes were popped too.

The scene would look comical if it were not for his intense emotions.

Seeing Zi Ming sleeping on the bed and a few bandages, he carefully picked him up and caressed him when Zi Ming woke up.

Being held in his brother’s arms, the tears that has dried welled up again as if discovering a new source.

“Zeee Ang, Ee hai hit me. He said my mom’s dead. Woo… he said boo-boo and I hit him… he hit me twe (gesturing two fingers). Woo… zeee aang, you fite him… hit him woo…”

Zi Ming is only around three and half now.

He fell asleep again after crying.

Contrary to Mama Mei and Uncle Bai’s expectation, Zi Yang did not feel much anger towards the kid who fought Zi Ming.

So, after repeatedly assuring the two, he heard the story and it was roughly the same as Zi Ming said.

“Uncle Bai, please help me find out the details of his elder brother. I think we should resolve our differences.”

Baize immediately has an ominous premonition. His beast senses keenly sensed a hidden anger in Zi Yang at this moment.

So, he didn’t speak but rushed to get the details.

In half an hour’s time, the details recorded in a file lay in Zi Yang’s hands.

---------------

What a Yi family! With ‘righteousness’ as their family character and names sounding all high and sanctimonious, their young one’s bully people.

Good.

He’s made his point.

Tomorrow, he will let this Yi Feng show some color.

When Zi Yang thrashed the folder onto the tabled, Baize heart thumped again.

He guessed that this matter was far from over.

Was he going to demand compensation from Ye Feng or badmouth him in front of his classmates or blackmail him.

One can’t blame Baize to think so lowly of Zi Yang.

Ever since he knew him, he’s seen him swindling, buttering up, read him of blackmailing the trut and all sorts of things.

Fight? Zi Yang is pragmatic and knows his strengths well.

Baize was assured that the boy knew his limits and wouldn’t fight a fight he couldn’t win.

Next day, Zi Yang took Mama Mei and Zi Ming to the same playground and waited for the two brothers to play.

From what he heard, the boy wasn’t injured much – just some scratches. So, he should come to play and his brother should follow.

“Zee Ang, u hit him tudei?”, Zi Ming was still imaging his brother taking revenge for him.

“Zi Ming”

Seeing his brother look so serious, Zi Ming was a little frightened. Zi Yang has always smiled at him.

Today was the first time he saw a different face, he habitually wanted to cry.

But Zi Yang’s voice stopped him.

“Don’t cry. Yi Hai hit you, so only you can hit him back. Big ones can’t bully small ones understand?”

Mama Mei also pitched in, “yes Ming’er, you have to fight your own fight.”

Zi Ming half understood. He understood that his brother won’t fight for him. He did not know how he felt, but his ears drooped slightly.

“But big ones can bully big ones.”

With that said, Zi Yang strode away to Yi Feng whom he has seen coming to the playground.

Mama Mei reacted late and by the time she reacted, Zi Yang had already punched Yi Feng on his cheek.

The melon eaters gathered again and the brawl started.

Except that the more Zi Yang fought, the braver her became.

Yi Feng is a regular and healthy eleven-year-old kid. He is older than Zi Yang by about three months, and is bulkier than Zi Yang by at least a quarter time.

His father is in beast regiment so he exercises frequently too and has learned some basic body moves.

Today Yi Feng did not know which lunatic attacked him as soon as he entered the park but he was sure that he was going to display all those moves and pound this guy onto the ground.

Zi Yang was therefore miserable of course.

The onlookers were stunned.

They could not fathom why a feeble paper tiger would challenge a bull. Zi Yang’s thin body did not help him much in the early stage, but he soon gained momentum.

His skinny bones became worthy weapons to be used. He used his elbow to slam onto Yi Feng’s shoulders and it sank right in.

Then an upper cut to the chin and a knee to the stomach; while Yi Feng dodged the upper cut and blocked the knee with his arm lock.

It hurt both sides.

The melon eaters were completely immersed that no one thought to break the fight. Mama Mei couldn’t leave Zi Ming alone in the crowd anymore and bringing him in to separate would be dangerous in case someone hit him by error.

Zi Ming cried initially when he saw Zi Yang beaten up but now, he was only with twinkling little stars in his eyes.

The match was heating up and the underdog revived and bit crazily.

That’s literally what happened. Fighting all along and not getting any advantages, Zi Yang started biting his hand had while hitting obliquely on his ribs.

Yi Feng lifted him and threw him off.

But Zi Yang bit off a small portion of his skin off his hand and blood flowed out.

The two looked at each other and both ran each other to fight again when their fists were caught by two hands.

One was of Yi Feng’s father, whom some well-intentioned onlooker had called.

Another was Bai Ze, who had followed in dark all along and wanted to see how Zi Yang would settle.

“Oh”, an onlooker express disappointment at this anti-climactic ending.

The next moment, the whole crowd was looking at him.

He was so embarrassed that he hurried out.

“Go on. The show’s over. The town beast regiment is here”, Yi Feng’s dad drove away the crowd by flashing his ID and then he came over.

Seriously, there’s a limit to eating melons. This crowd did not know their limits.
