Early in the dawn, before anyone in the house woke up – Zi Yang was seen going about the daily chores he would do, as always.
Burying energy stones under the soil for Euterpe berries to absorb energy and bear fruits, collect the night dew from the rose daisies and cleaning up the litter created by the babies – both pandas and human in the daycare center.
Even if the years gradually improved his life, Zi yang did not delegate these tasks to anyone but maintained this habit.
He always wanted to ensure that he would remain a down-to-earth person even if he became successful.
Now more than ever, when the sudden success of an unprecedented foundation and skyrocketed cultivation him to float on air – he had to make more efforts to keep his feet grounded lest he fall as heavily as high he flew.
After finishing these menial tasks, Zi Yang went from the daycare in the backyard to the main hall of the storefront and calculated accounts.
While doing so, he could not help reminisce of his mother who had prepared her blessings for his breakthrough. Even on her deathbed, the woman did not cry of pain but of reluctance to leave a helpless child behind.
Inadvertently, a few drops of tears flashed through his eyes.
Humans are such creatures – they can be both strong and fragile because of the same thing.
He was strong because of the promise to her, and he felt a little weak in his heart today when he missed her.
His promise to his mother about taking care of his brother accompanied by the guilt and all the love drove him for the past years to make consistent efforts in improving their environment.
Even though he put on a brave front and guaranteed to find a way even if the beast taming space did not open and he was unable to sense qi – he even had some inexplicable confidence build up even time he did so – but he knew in his heart that more of it is was covering up his insecurities for the sake of his loved ones.
Today, as things slowed down a little – Zi Yang finally could feel a burden fell off his shoulders.
With a foundation, he could hope to ensure survival and a prosperous future for both himself and Xiao Ming.
When he was about to wipe his tears, his hands seem to freeze. A frog appeared all of a sudden and swallowed the tear drops into his stomach.
Zi Yang instinctively showed disgust.
Who swallows someone’s tears? Is this another two-year-old kid who swallows everything he sees?
Before he could reprimand, A.I. Joanne’s voice came first before she turned into glasses and claimed territory on his nose bridge and ears: “Ah, I’m late. This frog took such a precious resource.”
Zi Yang could not help but ask, “Jo, what is the precious resource?”
“Master, your tear!”
As if thinking what he was thinking, she spoke again, “Master, resources of human emotions are extremely rare – even almost extinct – because one either needs high cultivation of this law or need pure human heart to condense these. Your tear just now was one such resource.”
“My human tear became a resource?”
Zi Yang somehow had an illusion of becoming a beast now. Aren’t all resources gained from either beasts or others are condensed naturally.
But then he carefully corrected his outlook again and understood that humans were also beasts in a sense, just more privileged.
Joanne did not know her master’s outlook reconciliation, she spoke as if a fact, “According to my information retrieval from the world, a pure human heart can condense resources which are helpful in understanding laws related to emotions directly!
Moreover, if this tear drop comes from master, so if we use it – not only can we understand these related laws but even understand our master better!”
Zi Yang choked for a moment.
Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.
Isn’t this like peeping into his mind to understand his thoughts – that’s creepy. Even the beast master space contracts only allow beasts to instinctively understand some instructions and thoughts of the beast master.
This kind of tear strips his mind naked – emotions can sometimes be used a deadly weapon against a person if correctly figured out.
Is this the reason why these are almost extinct?
Froggie interrupted his thoughts and said, “Master, when are you going to contract me? I want a name too. Joanne has one and everyone in this house has one and I am the only one…”
Looking at this hapless frog who had a tendency to keep going, Zi Yang promptly stopped him and said, “I’ll contract you today. Wait for a moment and then, I will give you a name but on a condition!”
The frog was happy and jumped on his head, “Master, say. I will definitely promise!”
This was the shortest sentence Zi Yang had heard from this frog. He nodded in satisfaction, “My condition is that when you talk to me – each time you can only say three short sentences before I speak.”
Ah.
The frog’s eager eyes froze for a moment and he fell into deep contemplation – Could it be his master disliked him for talking too much? Should he speak less?
Zi Yang waited for a few breaths but did not hear his promise, she he fished him out of his hair and put on the work desk in front.
The frog’s eyes were drooping and he looked lifeless. Zi Yang couldn’t help bust ask, “Master, do you dislike me?”
How could Zi Yang not understand that the kid misunderstood? He could not dislike this frog.
First, he was a rare space type beast.
Second, he looked quite cute and was desirable as a pet even if without the space attribute.
Third and most importantly, he accompanied him to this life from the past and endured loneliness for sixteen years but still did not leave him after gaining independence.
How could he dislike a talented, cute and loyal beast?
But having said that, the verbosity was really too much for his ears and for most people’s ears.
He had to train him appropriately to talk less, otherwise he would be controlled by the skill of ‘charming social butterfly’, instead of controlling the skill.
Everything in the world has pros and cons – as do strength, laws, and skills. A proper control is required to stay true to your nature – else, one would lead to ruin.
He had this understanding after years of listening to cases of beast masters going berserk and dangers of primeval beasts in citizen awareness school.
After listening to the patient explanation of his master, the little frog finally calmed down and solemnly promised.
The scene of a frog trying to stand on his hind legs and bend front legs as if in a bow, against the backdrop of a faint golden rays of sun piercing through purplish-blue hue of night sky seemed quite quaint…
… and a little funny.
Seeing the sunrise, Zi Yang went back to his room with his two beast partners and took out the Tianxin’s frozen capsule.
The two beast eggs his mother procured were kept in this for years.
He took one out and placed the box back.
“Master, do you want to contract him first?”
“Master, what is this egg?”
Although their voice was low, Zi Yang was sure he heard a little hostility and a little resentment.
After a little thought, he could understand.
After all, these two had spent years guarding him and to be suddenly asked to be preempted by an unknown beast egg, any beast would feel resentful.
Even Joanne, as a mechanical beast, showed some emotions that low level mechanical beasts could not.
“This is the egg that mother left for me.”, Zi Yang answered.
The two beasts immediately restrained their hostility and urged him to make contract. Even though they could only stay in the sea of spiritual consciousness for so many years, they could feel many things through the images transmitted into the sea.
They knew Zi Yang’s mother too.
In such a slightly nostalgic atmosphere, Zi Yang made his first contract.
He channeled his spiritual energy through the beast taming space and came into contact with the life being nurtured in the egg.
After the consciousness accepted his approach, he linked the mark of the beast taming space onto the soul consciousness of the beast egg.
After a while, the egg cracked and a tiny snake crawled out. The snake has dim gray eyes and same grey body. It looked ordinary in every sense – countenance and appearance.
“Wow, brother. Is this snake your beast partner?”
Zi Yang and his two beasts were looking at the snake and the snake was looking at them as well as his surroundings.
This voice started everyone in the room.
Zi Ming hopped in front of everyone and came to the snake like beast and regardless of its slightly contracted pupils, he caught it by its tail and lifted it up.
With mischievousness in his eyes, he had already started playing with this new beast while calling for the little frog to catch up with him.
In the blink of an eye, the boy, the snake and the frog disappeared from the room.
Zi Yang was left there blinking hard at this awkward turn of events.
Joanne saw his master’s awkwardness and tried to offer a few words of relief:
“Master, it’s alright. They are determining ranking. They should come back soon.”
Zi Yang was about to nod, when he caught the key information – determining ranking.
Upon asking, he learned that before he could even think of it – his brother seemed to be training a few beasts for him.
Apparently, the little frog also fought with the Zi Ming and was defeated. How could a space beast be defeated by Zi Ming, Zi Yang wondered.
Joanne said, “He threatened to cry and said, he will say they hurt him and ask you not to make contracts with us.”
Zi Yang was amused.
Alas, as Zi Ming grew older and the time he spent with him decreased – Zi Yang sometimes wondered if the kid was growing more sensible.
But every time he thinks so, Zi Ming lets him know otherwise – the kid grew and so did his carefreeness. With support of Uncle Baize and Auntie Dark Void, he might grow even more rebellious.
Look at what he did – He determined ranking in the house.
1. Mama Mei
2. Zi Yang
3. Zi Ming
4. Baize
5. Joanne
6. Little Frog
7. Probably the little snake.
The nerve to rank Uncle Baize below himself – is this disrespecting his godfather? The nerve!
