*On the ArchAngel*
While going down the north corridor of the space station; I was checking the layout of the corridor on the map in my field of view. Damn I actually passed by 4 complete rooms, let’s check out the room closest to the Backup Control Room (BCR). I walked up to where the door was supposed to be and the door slides right into the wall disappearing. That’s good at least the power to the doors is back on. I stepped into the room and looked around. Shockingly I actually found a tool room. Damn could my luck really be this good? Well it is at a 20 which is twice the amount for a normal level one person. Speaking off how are my stats again? [Status]

Ugh there is that stupid title again. Chronos must have changed it back before I left. Ugh lets change it again. [Title Change: None]

There we go that’s better, it seems that my mana matches my intelligence level times ten. That’s good to know so without any outside interference, such as armor enchantments and buffs, when my intelligence is a twenty then my mana should be two hundred. I wonder if items with enchantments or status buffs exist in this universe? “They do exist master, but they are considered rare and only nobles can acquire them with ease.” You mean there are such things as nobles in this universe? I figured that with the way science was that the whole peasant and noble system would have been done for.
“Well master the rankings in this universe go something like this… Slave , Student, Noblet, Noble, Prince, King, Space Lord, Emperor of Space and two others.” Wait, what is the difference between a Noblet and Noble? “A Noblet master is a person who knows magic and owns some property while a Noble is a person who knows magic and science regardless of property. The other ranks such as Prince and King go based on your power and level. Any Noble over level 25, or equivalent power, is considered a Prince, level 50, or equivalent power, is a King, and Level 100, or equivalent power, is a Space Lord. Now the Emperor of Space is a different story there is only one and his level only has to be over 100 to qualify for the title, but his power has to be leaps and bounds above the rest of the Space Lords. so in turn you have to work your way up to a Space Lord before you can become the Emperor of Space.”
What about the two ranks after the Emperor of Space? You didn’t say anything about those. “I didn’t mention anything about them because other than the fact that they are there I, surprisingly, don’t know anything about them. I thought I knew everything in all the universes I’m sorry master.”
It’s okay Kira if you don’t know about them then it just means that I don’t need to know about them yet, but if I work hard enough maybe I will find out about them. Now I have been meaning to ask you a question Kira. Those races that you said couldn’t use magic so they invented the oxygen pill. Is it safe to say they are the main contributors to science in this universe? “That would be correct master.” What races are those? “Well actually it is just one race master, the Humans.” Wait, just humans? I can use magic though and I’m a human.
“That is true master, but you are a reincarnated individual and you picked the trait mana manipulation which obviously means that you can use magic. Now if you had not chosen mana manipulation you would have not had the opportunity to use magic without going through rigorous experiments with science, that have been lost in the last ten thousand years. Even after the science boom of fifteen thousand years ago there are only a few trillion humans in the universe that can use magic due to it being passed down through the generations. Now a few trillion humans might seem like a lot, but if you look at the size of the universe and the amount that humans breed then it’s not really all that much. The amount is increasing a couple billion every year now and will continue to grow. Even with the amount of human magicians increasing there are still more humans that can’t use magic than humans that can hence the reason why science is still continuing to advance.”
Are the ranks for non-magic wielding humans different than the other races that can use magic? “Yes they are master… their ranks go Slave, Commoner, Science Student, Scientist, Adviser, Vice Professor, Professor, Master, and Overseer.” So the races that use magic can actually skip some of the regular ranks? “Yes master, because you own a property and can use magic that automatically gives you the rank of Noblet. As soon as you learn some science of some sort though, your rank will jump up to Noble. If you weren’t able to gain ownership over this space station then you would have been just a Student, which is actually the lowest rank for someone who can use magic, unless they are a slave. A slave who can use magic is extremely rare.”
Speaking of gaining ownership of the space station how were you able to do that?
“Oh that was easy master, this space station has been abandoned for a few thousand years and after being abandoned for so long if the person or faction that owns the said property doesn’t come around for anything then the property becomes free for any who wish to own it. Now that you own the property though in a year the Union will send a representative and see if you would like to join them. Being that Chiron is actually not in Union space, you are not required to join them though. They usually just like to ask the owners of planets and space stations as big as this one if they would like to join. If they asked you now I would highly recommend that you join them, but a year from now who knows.”
Oh well I never would have thought that it would be that easy to take ownership of something. “Usually it isn’t master, but due to a war a few thousand years ago the planet Chiron was reduced to a semi-scientific planet that was barely able to keep their cities floating and fight their enemies on the frontslines, let alone take back control of a space station. Even the small space station that they do have they just barely finished building it in the last couple hundred years.” So you’re saying that in the next couple thousand years they would have been able to take this space station back? “Yes master.”
I laughed a little bit in my head; I guess it was my good luck that I happened to appear on it before then. Now that we have wasted the last ten minutes of oxygen, let’s continue searching the room. Looking around I see some tools scattered about none of them look all that familiar. I floated over to the nearest floating tool and started to examine it and eventually I was able to see that it was a cutting torch.
The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
Congratulations! You have learned the skill [Identify]!
Identify: Able to see an item’s name and functions.
I almost yelled, out loud, in excitement. I learned a new skill, now maybe I can see what these tools are more easily now. Sure enough when I started looking around the room at the floating tools I used [Identify] on the ones that I looked at and I get violet popup windows for them. There is a welding torch, an electric drill, an electric metal cutting saw, a bolt gun, and a lot more. I was ecstatic; I grabbed a cutting torch and a welding torch and proceeded to head to the next room. This room turned out to be a supply room with extra metal sheeting and everything I could possibly need to fix the hole in the corridor. Why is it that everything seems like it’s all just coming together to easily? It’s like some benevolent being is on my side or something.
I heard a cute giggling coming out of nowhere, “Whose there?” After I stupidly spoke out loud I remembered that there is no sound in the vacuum of space. So I started to look around for someone, but my radar said I was the only one around. Kira was that you? “What do you mean master?” Nothing, forget it I must be imagining things. It’s better not to question good fortune otherwise it may bite me in the ass. Let’s start hauling the metal sheets to the corridor.
After an hour of floating back and forth between the corridor and the supply room I finally got what looks like enough metal sheets to fix the breach, but I have to figure out how to move the meteor first. Also if there was a big war that devastated the planet so much back then why is there only one hull breach from a meteor? Oh well maybe I’ll find out later. I search all around the meteor on the side of the corridor that I was on and racked my brain on how to dislodge it without sending myself out into space. “May I make a suggestion master?”
As much as I would like your help Kira I really need to start figuring these things out on my own. I’m glad you are here and you will definitely be a great help when it comes to science and magic, but I would like to try and figure out some things on my own. So for now unless I’m about to do something stupid or my life is in danger please let me try and figure things out. If you have some interesting info about the laws, information about a place, an animal, or something that I need to know to survive then feel free to speak up. She sounded depressed, but she still accented. “Yes master.”
Congratulations! You have unlocked the stat [Wisdom]!
Wisdom has been increased by five points.
What? I can unlock more stats too? Damn why do I feel like a cheat character in a game. “Actually master; anybody in this universe can essentially unlock stats, skills, and obviously level up.” Jeez why couldn’t you just let me feel superior for once huh? I sighed in my heart; anyways let’s get back to the problem at hand. After checking the amount of oxygen I have left which is around sixteen hours I start to reexamine the meteor. An hour later I finally decided just to cut the interior wall of the corridor and fix it after I move the meteor. Grabbing the floating cutting torch I check the digital screen to see how much energy it had and it was surprisingly full. I start cutting away at the wall on my side of the meteor, but as I get to the point of the wall that I can’t cut without floating in front of the meteor I have to rethink my strategy some.
Congratulations! Construction has reached level 2!
Sweet, my construction skill has leveled up to level two! I’ll check it later thought, because I need to finish this hole. I head back to the supply room and look for anything I may be able to secure myself to the rail on the wall and to my delight I find a metal braided cable with metal rods on the end. It kind of looked like a giant metal jump rope. I went to pick up the metal rod and discovered that the rods were actually big magnets with an on and off switch, depending on the strength this might be even better. Inside the supply room I turned on one end of the magnet and it immediately shot to the floor. If there was air in the room the noise would have been deafening. I braced myself and start tugging with all my might and the magnet doesn’t move I begin to wonder if maybe I might not be strong enough so to test my strength I punch the metal table in the middle of the room. The table immediately bows under the pressure of my punch and leaves a massive dent in the middle of it. Wow, if the it wasn’t bolted to the ground it may have flown to the roof due to the rebound, but with the experiment done, I discovered that the magnet was indeed strong enough to do what I needed it to do.
I take the cable out to the corridor and hook it to the wall just inside the cut I made near the meteor. Now I just got to find a way to wrap it around myself. I wrap the cable around my waste and discovered that the cable actually wasn’t a metal that could be magnetized to I ended up having to do some Boy Scout engineering to tie the cable around myself. As I set to float in front of the meteor; Kira chimes in. “Master if I may, you said if your life was endanger then I should speak up so I am exercising that right now. The knot you tied is not enough to hold you if you get shot into space with the meteor. I suggest that you feel around on your space suit’s belt on your back.”
I do as Kira says and to my surprise I find a round metal disk built into the belt of the suit that is just big enough for the magnet. Maybe this cable is a portable suspension cable for someone to use. I bring the magnet around to my backside and activate the magnet and the magnet shoots into my back slamming me into the wall and bouncing me back to the opposite wall. Good thing I wasn’t facing outside when I did that. Thank you Kira. “You’re welcome master.”
Finally being secured to the wall I float in front of the meteor, using the meteor itself as a hand hold, and start to continue my cut in the wall from the other side. After a couple hours and 3 more levels in construction I have successfully cut around the meteor and all that is left is to try and move it. Double checking my safety line I grab ahold of the bar on the wall and start kicking the meteor trying to dislodge it. After what seems like hours of kicking I finally get the meteor to budge a little bit making enough room for me to get my hands into the cut that I made. Bracing myself against the wall I use every amount of strength I can muster to pull on the meteor and after about five minutes of pulling the meteor starts to move towards space grabbing a hold of the bar I give the meteor one last good kick finally sending it out into space.
Now onto fixing the wall; I look at the hole I cut in the wall and it looks like I cut a hole into an electrical room with a big round tower in the middle. I entered the room and examine the tower and I immediately said a few prayers of thanks to Chronos, who is the only god that I personally know, that I didn’t cause any extra damage to the room I cut into because looking at the giant tower the words on it nearly gave me a heart attack on the spot.
Looking at the tower it read “Danger Nuclear Core!” in capital letters. If realizing you were cutting into a room, with anything nuclear in it, doesn’t scare you then you my friend have balls the size of Jupiter. Based on the fact that there is a nuclear core in this room; I have to say that my luck is amazing and I found the power room by looking at the schematic in my field of view it now says the name of the room on the screen and sure enough it’s the power room. I looked around for a computer of some sort and find one on the tower itself. I log into the system using my master credentials and try to find a way to restore the power. I found what I was looking for and I enter the command to turn the power on.
The monitor starts to show different messages and lights all over the space station start to turn on at the end of the messages, I’m left with three messages. Two say that the life support and gravity are still offline due to the hull breach in the north corridor, but the third says some information that I need to see.
Power Status
Nuclear Core Life Left: 2 Years, 7 Months, 25 Days, 17 Hours, and 5 Minutes Remaining
Recommending Core replacement in 2 years or alternate power source
Great if I remember right the average Nuclear Cores life span on earth was around forty years meaning that they put the core in thirty-seven plus years before the system auto shut down and the core stopped using its life up. Well I have two years to find a new power source or another nuclear core. Hopefully I can find something or figure something out. I look at the hole in the wall and then look at the tower in front of me and I once again say a few prayers and curses as well. Thanks Chronos, but you aren’t able to kill me off that easy!
I hear that same damn giggle again. If that’s you Chronos and you are watching, just you wait and when I can I’ll make you mine and I’ll make you holler my name loud enough for all the universes to hear, you damn she devil!
