CHAPTER 23: GRAND MASTER SHERR

CHAPTER 23: GRAND MASTER SHERR

Classes had just finished for the day and Riku was ready to sneak off to get some rest. Riku looked left and right before stepping out of his classroom.

‘Great the coast is clear.

I just need to make it to my dorm room and I’ll be home free.

Riku stepped off but suddenly felt his hairs stand on end when a voice popped up from behind him.

“You're heading the wrong way silly.”

Where the hell did she come from? she completely slipped through all my senses.

Nakita was right behind him with a broad smile as though it was natural to just appear behind people randomly.

“You wouldn’t want to make Okeeve upset right?

Afterall he’s already been waiting for you for so long.”

Nakita spoke but didn’t give Riku time to respond instead she pulled him by the arm and dragged him the other way.

Riku tried to break free but that’s when he realized Nakita despite her small stature was just as monstrous as anyone else at the school. Riku had forgotten that she was still ranked relatively high, not to mention the star on her shoulder.

Before long they were back in the training hall and Okeeve was there with Dante and Jose casually talking.

“Well looks like he’s finally here.

Oii Jose! you get the defibrillator this time.”

Okeeve adopted his tiger stance once again and Nakita threw his pistols at Riku.

“Okay let’s start.”

Nakita sat down on the bench to the side beside Dante who was calmingly sharpening his shurikens.

“So have you heard about it too?”

Nakita was the one to bring it up first.

“You mean the rumors about the killings and possible traitors at the school?”

Nakita nodded with a serious expression.

“H-” Dante’s response was cut short when he had to tilt his neck slightly.

[Swoosh] a bullet hole appeared where Dante’s head was a few seconds ago.

Riku and Okeeve were still at it and the sound of gunshots was still going off in the room. But Nakita, Dante and even Jose were unphased by it. They had grown immune to the sound of gun fire at their level of training.

“How couldn’t I have heard about it?

This content has been misappropriated from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.

It seems to be all everyone is talking about inside this place these days.

Even the rankings can’t cover up this one.”

“What do you think is going to happen this time?

Do you think it will be like before when we had to go to war?”

Nakita clenched her fist the thought of having to do what she did before brought back nightmares.

She never really liked the Assassin Academy lifestyle, she just did what she had to do to survive. Her being good at it was just a coincidence.

“You don’t have to worry about that.

This time we are dealing with a group of cowards.”

Dante closed his eyes and continued to speak,

“These ones are very selective about who they attack and they seem to be limited in numbers.”

Nakita eyes opened wide looking at Dante, she wondered how he already knew this much.

“You're not the only one with friends in the shadows Nakita,

Remember I already have two patrons, so of course I would have already been briefed and warned to remain vigilant.”

Dante paused as though he was trying to dig deeper into Nakita’s mind,

“I know what you’re scared of, but trust me if it ever comes to something like that again… we can definitely handle it this time.

After all that’s why we stayed here so long, to make sure we were strong enough for anything.”

Dante looked at Nakita with a smile trying to comfort her. They had a moment while their eyes locked onto each other.

[BAM!]

Riku was sent crashing into the wall, almost hitting the two of them.

Jose ran over with the defibrillators and revived Riku. Then threw him back into the lion's den with Okeeve.

Jose slumped down between Dante and Nakita.

“Come on guys you’re not talking about that too?”

Dante and Nakita nodded in unison.

“You don’t have to worry about it.

My sources say, it’s as good as handled.”

Jose puffed up his chest proud and continued

“Afterall you both know my girlfriend is never wrong.”

Nakita’s eyes widened once again.

“Did SHE really say that?!”

Even Dante was a little surprised, it had to be noted that Jose’s girlfriend was never wrong about these things. She over the last three years had a one hundred percent accuracy on all her predictions.

“How can she be so sure?”

Dante was still a little skeptical and needed some form of evidence.

“Well she says,

She heard that one of the top teachers was personally going to deal with it.”

Nakita scoffed,

“just one teacher?”

Dante rubbed his chin.

“If it’s just one then the only one strong enough to go it alone I would guess is…”

[Grand Master Sherr!]

The three of them came to the same conclusion at the same time. Grand Master Sherr the only man they knew who was several leagues above all the other teachers. He was an all rounder and could shine in any setting. He wasn’t someone like Billy who was better at covert battles or Okeeve who was better only at direct methods.

The normal student would not think that Grand Master Sherr was very strong. But Dante was his direct disciple and knew how monstrous he really was. Despite his age and only using a sword as his weapon he could go toe to toe with any teacher or student.

In fact he was the host of the last graduation passing ceremony. The graduation passing ceremony for the school was basically each student fighting a teacher and every student would lose horribly.

But Grand Master Sherr was different; he couldn't bother wasting time challenging everyone one by one and took on the entire graduation batch at once.

It went without saying they learnt the graduation lesson just the same or even worse.

The graduation passing ceremony was meant to show students that despite the last three years or so of training there was always more to learn but Grand Master Sherr left every student mortified and disconsolate.

They felt the years of training had carried them nowhere and that they were still ants playing in the dirt.

“If it’s him then it really is as good as solved then.”

The three nodded before turning around to see Riku flat on the ground again.

Jose ran over with the defibrillators ready to revive him again.
