CHAPTER 15: THE ONE DAY DEMONS PART 1

The Nagoya port in Japan.

The midday sun was still scorching and despite the seawater and the heat within the air, the spirits of these policemen were high.

The police surrounded a pillar of four large Intermodal containers that were stacked high. They pried these forty-foot long shipping containers one by one.

At the end of the unboxing they had unmasked over five thousand pounds of cocaine in each box. They were holding over forty individuals as suspects related to the drug bust today which was led by Superintendent Yujiro Sato.

On this day he was one euphoric high as it relates to his career and life.

“Superintendent Yujiro Sato, do you have any comments on the largest drug bust in Japan's history?”

“Today’s Operation was intelligence-driven.

Thanks to investigations and hard working members of the police force it has led to almost the full shut down of the local drug trade and lockdown of the Sumiyoshi-kai gang within this area.

I assure the public this is only the beginning of our operations.

We will be attacking select locals where we know these criminal elements are thriving.

We will take Japan back from these criminals!”

The superintendent walked back to his vehicle with praise following behind him as he entered his police car. When he arrived at the precinct cheers were heard all around.

He had been working tirelessly for the past two years to make this grant bust; now that it was finally completed he only wanted his rest.

After taking an early leave from work he reached home in the early afternoon.

He wasn’t his usual serious self like at work. The moment he stepped through the door he loosened his black tie, removed his jacket, and unbuttoned the top button from his white undershirt.

“Honey I’m home!”

He greeted his wife within the kitchen, before she could respond or turn around his sons Riku and Haru came sliding down and running from upstairs, with their congratulations.

Haru was only nine years old, still half the height of Riku at the time. His eyes were still big and brown with a glimmer of a child unknowing of the world surrounding, his toddlers face still prevalent through his chubby cheeks and smooth baby hair, not yet grown out.

Haru was the first to hug his father though young he understood his father had just made an astronomical breakthrough career-wise.

While Riku being the oldest spoke bluntly instead of hugging his father first,

“Dad, well I guess they’ll put your name on a plaque or something for taking down a whole yakuza wing.

The news is saying it’s the biggest drug bust in Japans’ history…

Even I have to admit… That's pretty cool.”

Riku gave his father a thumbs up with a bright smile then drew a seat next to his father.

“So what does that mean now?”

His father exhaled and replied as he ran his fingers through his high top dark hair,

“Well I’ll be taking two months off from work to finally spend some time with you guys. It's the least after all the work I’ve put in.”

Yujiro felt like a huge burden was off his shoulder and let out another sign of relief.

His wife smiled, her long flowing deep dark brown hair swayed with her body as she moved about the kitchen.

Yujiro’s wife in the kitchen was blissfully preparing her husband’s favorite meal, her beef curry.

As the aroma filled the house, a sense of peace and calm was present that had not been there for a long while.

The family sat down cheerfully catching up and laughing blissfully at their demeanors over the delicious curry.

The atmosphere was soft and the togetherness within the family that had long been absent because of the workaholic father had finally been torn down. Now they could finally enjoy a decent meal together.

“Ri I’ve been told you haven’t been to the marksman club meeting in a week and you’re supposed to be the vice-president”

Yujiro said as he closed his eyes and chewed his food, suddenly breaking the blissful atmosphere that had been floating about.

His mother glanced over at Riku, who suddenly started choking on the rice grain that seemed to have wandered down the wrong pipe. Haru adorably covered his head knowing of his big brother’s indiscretions.

“Dadd… Dadd! Well you see what happened was-”

Before giving him the chance to muster up an excuse Yujiro draped him by the collar of his shirt, shaking him vigorously.

“If you keep skipping your club meetings I won’t take you to the shooting range you enjoy so much anymore!”

His father changing from a drape to a chokehold still casually continued,

“I brought you into this world and I can take you out. I’m still young. I think I could make more of you, and there’s always, cute little Haru who can replace you.”

The night despite this family-friendly banter ended relatively peacefully, Yujiro smiled as he turned off the lights of the house after putting Haru safely to bed.

Yujiro smiled as he took a final look at his peaceful home before heading to bed with his wife.

The next morning after a long night with his wife Yujiro was hurriedly getting ready to report to work, he had overslept. Similarly, Riku had overslept and now both of them were hurrying about the place trying to make up for the lost time.

Regardless of them being late, his wife pulled him by his tie and pulled some of her looped brown hair from her face as she kissed her husband.

She sent him off knowing he would return to spend a long while home soon.

Ruki being even later than his father had to skip such chivalry with his mother, his morning hug was unfortunately too time consuming.

Left at home was his wife and son Haru. Haru did not have school today, so he stayed with his mother at home and kept each other company.

By now it was roughly ten o'clock in the morning when Yujiro’s wife heard the doorbell ring.

She was halfway into dicing her vegetables for her lunch. She peeped through the peephole of her door and saw her neighbor, a dear friend of the family.

Aika was her name, oftentimes both households would plan double dates or both wives would visit each other to speculate their husbands.

She was casually dressed holding a basket in her overlapping arms. It seemed like a gift to congratulate her husband.

Aika had a bad habit of always wearing her hair down, almost covering her eyes, and today was the same. Her dark blue hair acted as curtains over her face covering any facial expressions. She opened the door to welcome her neighbor.

As the door opened she was greeted with a crooked smile and widely opened eyes.

Slightly petrified by such a horrendous expression on her friend she stood frozen.

Aika dropped the basket to the ground and revealed a large broad bladed kitchen knife with a deep black handle.

The knife was raised above Mrs. Saito’s head.

Mrs. Saito involuntarily raised her hands to cover her face, however the brute weight and force of the broad kitchen knife still accomplished its designed purpose. As Aika hacked at her neighbor the white creamy parts beyond flesh and muscles became more and more visible.

When Mrs. Saito tried to scream in agony her muscles connecting her jaws and head were severed by another slash forcing her to maintain her petrified expression as her face was diced open.

Her arms that had provided a temporary shield were now down to bones, blood and veins, while most of her fingers were already laying on the ground. What remained of her fingers connected to her hand were dangling by a lone ligament.

As Aika hacked and slashed the blood slatted and spread engulfing her blue dress in a crimson red hue, both their shadows had been doubled by the blood surrounding them.

Aika watched as her once dear friend fell to the floor. She watched as she coiled up on the floor wriggling in agony screaming in horror bathing in her own blood.

Aika watched as her neighbor tried to cover her face with her hands that only had half the phalanges remaining.

Tears over took Aika as her murder weapon dripped blood she trembled and screamed at her friend,

“I.. I’m.. I’m sorry, but it’s either your family or mine!”

As she spoke and trembled, from behind her came a group of four men, wearing black suits

“Very good work Miss Aika, now as promised your husband and children will be very safe…”

Before ending his sentence a sharp short sword perturbed from Aika’s abdomen. Her knife fell as her eyes opened even wider, feeling the cold foreign object her head tilted slightly down as she saw the end of the sword protruding below her stomach.

She only began to scream in agony when the sword shifted and turned inside her allowing space for her intestines to slide out, they dangled like loose shoelaces.

She trembled as she shrieked in anguish until- from her perspective looking down on the blade that had shifted within her guts allowing the octopus legs like guts to dangle out had suddenly began to move closer to her eyes.

Her final shriek was turned into a sharp oxygen deprived whimper as the sword moved up to slice her in half from the abdomen upward.

Now laying above the bloody Mrs. Saito was Aika equally drenched in blood.

Aika was sliced in two from the waist upward allowing her internals to collapse inwards to leak out onto her friend below.

Still alive and now wrapped in Aika's bowels while feeling her stomach and liver sliding slightly on her back, Mrs Yujiro screamed in agony as she held onto life.

The gang of men took turns stabbing and piercing both bodies until no screams or tremble or involuntary muscle spasm could be conjured.
