Matt was jealous when he saw Arden's mana test. But he didn't let that feeling take over his feelings. Such was life, sometimes you didn't get what you wanted. he decided to gather himself and focus on what Edward had to say.
Seeing the low-spirited crowd, Edward began to speak, thinking he needed to freshen up a bit.
“I see some of you are upset. Do you know that some of the strongest adventurers in the world don't use mana. Do you want to know how they do it?"
Everyone expected to hear from Edward how they could do this.
“With levels, if you reach level 30 in the [warrior] class, you can sometimes be more useful than a mage.”
“Oky pep talk is over, pick one person for your partner. And pick wooden weapon from side“
Everyone was divided into groups of 2. Matt had chosen Alistair as his opponent. He had a wooden sword in his hand. Alistair also had a sword in his hand.
“We start with the basics. Is there anyone who hasn't picked up a sword?" said
Matt had raised his hand. He looked around and saw that only his own hand was in the air. Ed called Matt over to him.
"Grab the Sword and stop me from pushing it"
Edward tried to push the sword by the hilt with his hand. But the sword did not move. Then he slowly slid his hand up the blade and pushed, the blade moving swiftly towards Matt's shoulder.
“As you can see, you have to defend the incoming blows not by using the middle and tip of the sword, but by using the side near the hilt.”
Ed took a step back and looked at Matt's feet.
“You have to take a position with one foot in front and the other foot in the back, with your strong foot in front. If you need to move, you should start with your front foot in front and your back foot in the back.”
Ed thrust the wooden sword forward in his hand. “Another important thing in using swords is that you should never bring the enemy close to you, if the enemy comes too close to you to attack with the sword, consider yourself dead.”
Ed walked over to Matt. “Even though there are many ways to attack with a sword, I will show you four. The first one is right from the top, the second one is diagonally from the top, the 3rd one is from the side, and the 4th is from the bottom.”
When Ed showed these cuts' defense methods, he told him to take his place.
“First of all, we study what I have shown, pay attention to your form while doing the work.” he said, and the workspace began to echo with the sound of wooden swords banging against each other.

Keeping in mind what Edward had said, Matt began working with Alistair. When he started working, he realized that he was pretty good at it. The movements seemed to flow naturally. Actually, Matt had done many sports in the old world. He was on the basketball team in high school and now has a pretty limp body. They kept working, Matt was immersed in sword training, and he was enjoying it a lot. This focus even made Matt forget the disappointment in the morning's mana test.
Time passed quickly. Before Matt realized how time flies, the sun was directly overhead.
“Are you sure this is your first sword use?” said Alistair.
“I don't know, I guess I'm good at it,” said Matt and smiled.
When Zeke came along, they left the training area and went to the lobby of the guild. The lobby was a bit crowded since it was noon. Ava was waiting in the lobby.
“I thought Arden where you took lessons together.”
“He's staying to talk to Ms. Olivia, he'll be back in a minute,” she said.
The four of them left the lobby and began to wait for Arden. Arden was soon out the door.
“Here comes our genius?” said Zeke
“An innkeeper with 2 Elements?” said Ava
This comment made the whole team laugh.
"What are we doing, I'm hungry like a wolf?" alistair said, putting his hand on his stomach.
“Are you going to the inn building?” Matt said.
“No, I was planning to practice magic today.”
“Then we are together at dinner. How would you like to have dinner at our inn?” said Matt.
When everyone agreed, the 5 of them started walking towards the inn where Arden and Matt were staying.
As Matt walked down the road, Arden came up to him.
“Are you well mate, you've been waiting so long for this magic job.”
Matt could understand his friend's concern as he considered Arden's question. He had been talking about this day all week and had learned that he could not become a wizard today. But after Sword training, he was free of all frustration. It was as if he had fallen in love with using a sword.
"Don't worry man, I'm fine, I found a new way to get stronger," he said.
Matt saw Arden relax from his nervous face. Seeing Arden's concern for himself, Matt was very happy that he was not alone in this world. Although it was luck that they met Arden, she was happy that they were friends.
They had finally arrived at the inn where they were staying, chatting. When they pushed the door of the inn and entered, they saw Gordon serving food to a table.
"Hey old gordon, what's for dinner we brought our friends too?" said Arden.
During their stay, their relationship with the innkeeper Gordon had advanced to the level of Friendship.
“Oh, didn't you go to the Inn's construction today?”
“I found out today that I am prone to magic, so I want to practice magic this day.”
Seeing what was behind them, Gordon pointed to an empty table for them to sit at without further ado.
“What do you guys want to eat?”
There was no concept like a restaurant in this world. If you wanted to eat, you either made it yourself or went to an inn. In the inn, 3-4 kinds of food were served every day, you said what you wanted to eat.
“What's on the menu?” said Matt.
“Lamb Stew, Fish soup,…”
After Gordon said today's menu, everyone had chosen their meal. Before long, the food arrived.
“Arden, are you really determined to open an inn? Can you go to a magic academy?” said Ava
"It's always been my dream to open an inn, Ava, I don't want to give it up now that I've come this close."
Ava had a confused expression on her face after hearing Arden's answer.
“Arden I don't think you understand, mages with 2 elements are very rare and you managed to create a mana vortex in your body despite your first try, if you get proper training you will inevitably become an Archmage. Any team of adventurers will race to get you.”
"I don't want to live my life with constant wars and death, I want to live quietly in a place where everyone eats, relaxes and tells their stories"
Seeing Arden as determined, she stopped further scrutiny and turned to the meal in front of her.
“Matt, how about sword training after dinner?” Said Alistair
“Okay, there's a courtyard behind the inn where we can work,” said Matt.
“Will you join, zeke?” said Matt.
"Okay, I can work a dagger too"
“Ava, can you help me with a few things I don't understand about mana?” Arden said.
“I have nothing to do anyway.”
Everyone decided what to do, they quickly ate their food and went out to the back courtyard. There was a table and chairs at the edge of the courtyard. As Matt and the others began their weapons training, Ava and Arden began to sip tea and talk about mana and magic.
It went on like this until dark. Everyone was tired. After dinner, everyone dispersed, Matt and arden went up to their rooms to sleep. And when they closed their eyes, they heard a voice they had not heard for a long time.
