Chapter 1 - To the Petra

Chapter 1

> The stars were trying to illuminate every corner of space with all their might. At a small point in this infinity, an iceberg-like boulder was floating in space.

This piece of rock did not look as if it had formed under normal conditions. Closer inspection can reveal that there was a large round table on top of the boulder. Oddly enough, a group of sentient beings was sitting at this table.

The people sitting at this strange table looked like they were in the middle of a vigorous argument, but neither side of the argument seemed to want to win this argument.

At that moment a dark blue vortex formed right next to the table. And two people came out. This incident was enough to silence everyone at the table. With the arrival of these two people, the attention of the table was diverted to a certain place.

This place was the person sitting in the largest seat. The man sitting on the stone-hewn armchair had a long white beard. But it was impossible to guess his age from his face. He looked like he might be a young man if he didn't have a white, long beard.

The man stood up.

"Have you done it?" His voice carried an eerie tone that mortals could never seem to reach.

"The runes have been engraved. Only the final ceremony remains. " the man said.

As he get his answer, the white-bearded man turned to the woman sitting to his right.

"And the other side?"

The woman opened her closed eyes.

"They're bringing the Earth Centers here."

When the bearded man got his answers, he studied the people sitting at the table. There was sadness and helplessness on everyone's face that is difficult to describe.

"We've done everything we can. Now the rest is in their hands. Brace yourselves, a war awaits us to fight."

These words were not enough to disperse the air of mourning at the table, but they were enough to lessen their sadness a little.

The sounds of the carriages echoed through the silent forest. The roads, which were not used much, turned into the mud because of the rain. But this did not affect the caravan of 20 vehicles. The caravan continued on its way, albeit slowly.

"Finally, this damn weather has cleared up, I don't think I could hold out any longer." Arden said, lifting the leather curtain behind the carriage and looking out.

He closed the curtain and walked over to Matt, who was sitting in the front of the carriage and sat down.

"How's your foot?" he said with a curious look in his eyes.

“As good as new. I think the potion they gave me really works.” There was a joy in his voice like that of a child discovering something new.

"We're really in a different world, huh?" said Arden. He still seemed to question the authenticity of what had happened to them.

“I guess so, Arden,” said Matt.

The two fell silent after this conversation and were immersed in the sound of the carriages. Both of them were thinking about what they had been through for the past week. The wheels rolled on muddy roads. The duo stayed like that for a while.

“What will we do now?” Matt broke the silence.

"We have to survive somehow, At least we were able to get some share of the bandits' money."

"I guess being a prisoner isn't so bad after all" said Matt

“Yeah, you're just getting a few bruises,” Arden said, pointing his head at Matt's leg.

The two burst into laughter at this.

Just then, a loud shout came.

“We stop for food!”

“We stop for food”

“We stop for food”

“Finally, I was starving!” said Matt, and poked his head out of the carriage to examine what was going on.

The caravan was heading towards a clearing ahead of the road.

After the carriages in the caravan were pulled into this opening in a circle, the people inside quickly got out of the carriages.

A fire was immediately lit with the wood unloaded from the carriages. O But the way the fire was lit was enough to stun the two of them who got off the carriages and were looking for a seat. After the woods were arranged to accelerate the air flow, a 15-16 year old worker in the caravan extended his hand towards the wood and muttered something.

Then the woods immediately caught fire.

“I guess I'll never get used to that,” Arden said.

Matt agreed. After the two friends found a dry place to sit, they began to wait for the food to be prepared.

“What are you planning to do when you get to Petra?” They had met about a week ago when they found themselves in this world.

Their meeting was a bit of a coincidence and a bit of fate. They both found themselves in this world at once. But the point where they were teleported to this world was not a very safe spot unless they were a bandit.

It wasn't long before they were caught when they landed near the bandits' hideout. When they saw each other's clothes in the cage they were locked in, they understood that they were in the same situation.

“Hmm… not quite decided, but…” pointing with his hand at the boy who lit the fire.

"I definitely have to learn magic,"

"And you?"

“I haven't made up my mind either, but I can get a job in a bar or something, I have some experience with that,” Arden said. Working at the bar his uncle owned since he was little had left him a way to earn his living.

“It's great to be able to understand their language. Remember the first day I almost lost my mind,” said Matt.

“Yeah man, That voice came to our rescue just in time.” ' Arden agreed.

“Did you learn anything about the voice?” asked Matt. Arden had done most of the talking to the caravan because of the injury to Matt's leg.

“I didn't learn much. I couldn't ask in too much detail so they wouldn't be suspicious. I couldn't take the risk of learning that we don't know anything about it. But I learned a few things. We are not the only ones has it. I think everyone living in this world can earn levels and Classes.”

Matt nodded.

“Well done, We just can't let them find out that we come from a different world.”

“Hey, the weird dressed duo, dinner's almost ready,” said the man running the caravan and walked over to them.

“Hello Mr.Kurt Thanks again for all you do”

"No need hahaha, everyone needs help sometimes," said Mr.Kurt. While on a journey to the north of Petra, Kurt and his team were attacked by bandits on the way, and the adventurers hired to protect the Caravan raided the bandit's hideout and freed Matt and Arden from the cage they were imprisoned in.

“How's your foot, M .. matt,” he said, seeming to have trouble remembering his name.

“I don't know how we're going to pay you back, It's fully recovered,” Matt said.

“Hahaha just a little healing potion is not a big deal,”

“Better hurry to eat, this will be our last meal before we get to Petra”

“Huh, are we that close?” ' Arden asked.

"Yes, we're trying to get there before the sun goes down, but these goddamn roads don't help us at all, if it gets dark and we don't get there, we'll have to sleep in the cold one more day, so you better eat your food fast," he said, and left them and started checking the carriages.

Matt and Arden wasted no time grabbing a bowl each of the prepared meal and returning to their seats. After they ate quickly, they headed towards the carriage reserved for them.

"We're on our way, anyone left behind will use their feet to reach Petra," announced Mr.Kurt. This warning hastened the caravan, which was almost ready, to make the final touches, and they set off once again.

--------------

“I think we're here,” Matt said.

Arden got up from his seat and approached the front of the carriage. He lifted the leather guard with his hand and looked out.

“This is Petra, huh,” he muttered.

For the duo, who saw modern world cities, this city, which was not very big, could be described as a town at most. But the stone walls of Petra also showed that it had little to do with anything like a modern city. The two of them began to watch with amazement and excitement the stone walls in front of them and the city guards walking on these walls.

With the help of their straightened path, the caravan approached the south gate of Petra. After Mr.Kurt spoke to the guards at the gate, the caravan was allowed to pass and the carriages began to enter through the gate.

This time, Arden and Matt began to watch the city from the back of the carriage. Rarely, pointy-eared elves and dwarves whose height did not exceed 1.5 m were seen on roads. And the two were trying to show each other what they saw.

Finally, the carriages stopped at the door of a large inn.

The people in the caravan began to unload the goods to be sold in the city. Such large caravans always had ready goods to be sold in the city where they stopped.

"Come on, finish things quickly, there's a big feast waiting for you to enjoy," Mr.Kurt shouted.

Even though most of the bandits' gold went to the adventurers who killed them, all the goods they couldn't transport were left to Mr. Kurt, and he had prepared a reward for his employees who survived the difficult journey.

Before long, things were over and everyone entered the grand inn.

Matt and Arden were able to find a corner seat at the big table.
