Chapter 6: Guild Entrance Exam

Chapter 6: Guild Entrance Exam

Lilian was very satisfied with the sword. She put it away next to the money and said goodbye to Keito, "Keito, I'm leaving, see you later."

Seeing Lilian saying goodbye Keito did the same, "See you later Lilian, don't forget to show up here tomorrow for the guild entrance exam."

"Tomorrow? Fine..., but why is an exam necessary?", asked Lilian, confused.

"An exam is required to measure your strength, then they will place you to a rank compatible with your strength and abilities. Of course then you can take quests of the same rank as you or lower," Keito explained.

"Thanks for the explanation", Lilian thanked him and went back to her house.

Arriving in the street of her house Lilian came across her neighbors talking, and when they saw her they quickly came to her.

"Lilian, where have you been? All the other children had already gone back to the house except you!", said a concerned lady.

"I was in the guild with Keito", explained Lilian.

"Did that barbarian take you to that place? Lilian be very careful... adventurers are very greedy", said another lady.

"But tell us why did you go there?", asked the worried lady.

"I went to heal my wounds and sign up for the guild", said Lilian.

"Oh yeah so - YOU WERE WOUNDED? That bastard Keito said he would make sure no one would get hurt with him there.";

"Exactly if we knew that would happen, we would never sign you up to go outside.";

"When I find Keito I'll make sure to give him a good beating!", said the indignant ladies.

Elsewhere...

Aatchoo!

"Looks like you have someone speaking well of me!", muttered Keito.

Going back to where Lilian was, she explained straight to them what happened, of course, she didn't tell the high-level zombie part. Lilian was afraid that she might end up giving one of the ladies heart attacks out of concern.

These ladies were like Mothers and Grandmothers to Lilian, always taking care of her after her parents no longer came back.

"So you got a reward for killing a zombie? And what a generous reward for just one zombie...", said one of the ladies as she narrowed her eyes at Lilian.

"But that's okay... you said you were going to take the guild exam, aren't you too young for that?", asked the third lady, she had a huge white hair pinned up with a clip.

"Yes, it was Keito's suggestion, but I would like to join the guild...I want to explore this world and not just be stuck here", Lilian explained.

"Hahaha! It had to be Keito, always sticking his nose where it doesn't belong... we won't stop you, Lilian, but remember this is not a world you can explore quietly, there will always be more, and more dangers."

"All right...", Lilian nodded and said goodbye.

Lilian entered her house and went straight to bed to sleep. Today was a very tiring day, days like this which were tiring only in her old life, when she had to work a lot for very little money.

In a large noble house.

An old man was sitting on a sofa in the study reading his book when someone opened the door and came shouting.

"Papa, you must seek revenge for me! Your son was bullied in the guild!", a fat man shouted.

If you find this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the infringement.

"Sigh... you little shit, you keep causing trouble, I've had enough, you're good for nothing but wooing women, eating and drinking all day, solve your problems yourself!", exclaimed the angry old man!

"B-But, Daddy!", the fat man tried to continue speaking when a book came flying at him and hit him in the face.

"Enough Todd! GET OUT OF HERE NOW! I don't want to see your face anymore. You are a disappointment of this family always causing trouble, you have already tarnished my name too much! Get out!", angrily the old man stood up and waved his hand and a huge gust of wind threw Todd out of the room.

All the servants who were walking around saw the situation and started whispering among themselves.

"Sigh... The young master has once again pissed off his father; he is already an adult and should be more responsible."

"Look at him. He is pitiful, he only knows how to eat and drink, he never even studies and yet he keeps causing problems for his father..."

"Hey you two keep it down, if he hears, we're in trouble!"

Todd knew they were talking about him. He turned red with anger, "This humiliation wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for that woman and that brat... they're going to pay" he muttered.

The next day Lilian just wake up, grabbed her sword and ran outside, seeing that the sun was almost in the middle of the sky she ran towards the guild, "Damn I overslept, I hope I won't be late... they didn't tell me what time I should be there", she grumbled.

Arriving at the guild, she saw that it was as crowded as last time. It seems that this is an extremely popular place. People come to eat, drink and chat when there is no mission they like or can do.

Sitting at a table, she saw Keito and Zyra waving to her. Lilian walked over to them and greeted them, "Hi, Zyra and Keito!".

"I thought you weren't going to come," Keito said as he sipped his beer.

"You didn't let me know the time I was supposed to come...", said Lilian.

"Uh? Wow, that's right, my mistake Buahahah", fell in laughter Keito realizing his mistake.

"..."

"His personality doesn't suit his looks...", thought Lilian as she looked at Keito.

"Lilian, what do you plan on coming here to the guild?" asked Zyra as she petted Lilian.

"Keito signed me up to take the guild entrance exam," Lilian said.

Zyra frowned at Keito, "Keito? She's just a child...how can you do something like that?", asked Zyra incredulously.

"Relax... She has talent and she'll do well in the guild! I'm sure", he said as he swallowed dryly at Zyra's penetrating gaze.

"Sigh... what to do with you Keito...", sighed Zyra, perplexed by the motive Keito gave her.

It didn't matter if she was talented, she was very young, she was only 12 years old and a girl, she would be greatly despised until she could prove herself, but what opportunities would she have? No adventuring group would want a 12-year-old girl helping them, it would be a burden.

They sat and talked for a while until Liza the receptionist announced that whoever was going to take the exam should go to the guild arena.

All the people who had been drinking, eating and talking went to the arena too, it was always a good 'show' to watch the fights that took place there.

Besides Lilian there were 6 other people who were going to take the exam, 2 women and 4 men.

One of the men who was already sitting inside waiting for the exam to start, saw Lilian entering and stared at her, "Hey brat, are you lost? This is no place for kids!", he said with a scowl.

"No, I'm going to take the exam", Lilian replied.

The man looked to be in his 23s, he had a good appearance and long beard, probably some nobleman wanting to be recognized.

"Tch... looks like the guild is crazy after members have lowered their standard so much", scoffed the man.

Normally the guild does not allow very young people to apply to join the guild, but in Lilian's case where Keito asked and the guild master also approved they made an exception, only in special cases like these under 15 year olds could apply to join the guild.

When the system was released, the children would have the option to go with a guide outside the wall and level up, so that by the time they could sign up for the guild they would have a better sense of survival and a little stronger.

"Please mister Harrison come to the arena!"shouted a boy who was standing in the center of the arena.

He was one of those who would test the participants, he was someone who specialized in fighting, melee, and there was another person who specialized in ranged fighting like bows and magic most of the time, since magic could also be used up close.

Lilian quickly measured his strength with [Evaluation]

Louise was someone above average for the people of this town, since it was a place with very little conflict against powerful zombies, people took too long to level up.

Unless one left for larger cities around the world, where the concentration of stronger zombies was much greater than here, they would continue to complete simple missions hunting ordinary zombies.

Rarely would a high level zombie appear that would earn you a good amount of experience.

The Battle between Harrison and Louise would begin, so Lilian sat down to pay attention to everything that was going to happen, it wasn't every day that you could see something that you would only see in movies.
