Chapter 18: The Gluttonous Queen

Chapter 18: The Gluttonous Queen

Lilian, after leaving the guild, went straight to her house. She thought about how sad it was not to receive a reward for this mission, since she wasn't officially part of it, just showed up hidden. "I gained other things, so it's not a problem," murmured Lilian as she opened her system.

"I've become stronger by killing so many zombies, and the amount of XP I got from helping with the flesh-eating zombie was really good. It's a shame Odin didn't participate, otherwise, he would have gained some too," murmured Lilian.

Lilian packed her things and went to bed, waiting for the dawn of a new day. When she woke up, she grabbed her things and headed to the guild. There she found Keito and Zyra sitting and chatting. "Good morning, guys!" said Lilian.

"Hahahaha! Lilian, who would have thought you would show up on a mission of that level? Zyra told me everything. You shouldn't do that again," said Keito, laughing at the situation.

Lilian laughed a little embarrassed but still happy to have helped. "I know, Keito. I didn't plan on participating, but Zyra ended up finding me. I'm glad it all worked out," Lilian said, smiling. "And you guys, what are you doing here? Any new missions?" she asked curiously.

"No mission," replied Zyra. "We're just curious about Louise's situation," she said, looking at a letter.

"Louise? I was just about to ask about him. Where is he? I was hoping he could help me with some fencing practice," said Lilian, curious.

Zyra, seeing that Lilian was eager to train with Louise, said, "Well, we don't really know the situation. He was here when someone came in and delivered a letter to him. Then, his mood changed drastically, and he left in a hurry, leaving this letter behind," she handed the letter to Lilian.

Lilian took the letter and began to read: "I hope this letter reaches you safely and that you can read it before it's too late. I'm being pursued by a zombie that I can't see clearly, but I know it's always watching me from afar. I feel its constant presence, and it's like it's always waiting for an opportune moment to attack me.

At first, I thought I was just being paranoid, but now I know this threat is real. I've tried to run to different places, but it seems like it always finds me. I hear its footsteps behind me and feel its breath on my neck. It's like it's enjoying my fear.

I don't know what else to do. I feel like I'm running out of time. I beg you to help me. Please come find me as soon as possible. I don't want to die at the hands of this cruel and sadistic zombie.

I hope you can save me.

With love and desperation,

Geovanni"

Lilian read the letter carefully and felt a pang of concern. She didn't know Geovanni, but she couldn't ignore the desperate plea for help. "We need to find Louise and figure out what's going on. If Geovanni is really in danger, we can't leave him alone," she said, determined.

Zyra and Keito looked at Lilian with concern. "Lilian, this letter could be a trap. We don't know anything about Geovanni, and it could be dangerous to go out there looking for him," said Keito. Zyra agreed. "We have to be cautious. We can't risk our lives for a stranger. Louise is an adult, he can take care of himself," she said.

Lilian understood her friends' concern, but she couldn't ignore the plea for help. She thought for a moment and had an idea. "What if we go to the guild and ask for help from our comrades? They can help us search for Geovanni safely," she suggested.

"You are a child, but you act like an adult," said Keito.

Zyra, after seeing Lilian's pleading look, decided to go talk to the master and ask him to send someone to accompany Louise.

The guild master looked at Zyra with concerned eyes. "We can't, Zyra," he said.

"We can't? Why can't we?" asked Zyra curiously. With a city full of people, it was very strange to refuse to send just one person.

Seeing Zyra's discontented look, the guild master said, "Remember the rumors that were circulating in other cities about those powerful zombies called the Seven Deadly Sins?" he sighed. "We found one, the rumor was true."

Zyra, surprised by the news, asked, "How can we be so sure about this!? Weren't they just myths?"

The guild master shook his head. "Unfortunately, they weren't just myths. We believe there are seven of these powerful zombies, each representing a deadly sin. So far, we've only found one, which represents gluttony," he explained.

"What are we going to do? Are the other cities also aware of this zombie?" asked Zyra.

"Yes, we're sharing information with other guilds and cities so that everyone is aware of the danger," replied the guild master. "But that doesn't mean we should underestimate the threat. It's important for everyone to stay vigilant and take precautions."

Zyra nodded, understanding the gravity of the situation. "And what about Louise and Geovanni? What can we do to help them without putting our lives at risk?" she asked.

The guild master thought for a moment. “Perhaps we can send a search team to look for them, but with great care and preparation. We need to make sure everyone will be safe”, he suggested.

Zyra agreed with the guild master's suggestion. “Great, send some people to help Louise.”

Concerned about the sin of gluttony, Zyra asked the guild master for more information.

“When the explorers arrived, they found an entire kingdom abandoned under a huge forest. No one imagined there was such a large kingdom in that place. The information we obtained was about the past of that place,” said the guild master. “That kingdom had been there for hundreds of years, probably even before the zombie apocalypse began. There was a princess there, her name was Gorgonia, and she was known for her insatiable and voracious hunger. Since she was young, Gorgonia showed signs of excessive gluttony, consuming huge amounts of food and leaving little for the other members of the court. When she became queen, the situation only worsened, with her demanding ever more extravagant banquets and devouring everything that was placed in front of her”, he continued.

“So, the sin of gluttony is Gorgonia. How did she come to this state?” asked Zyra.

“With the beginning of the zombie apocalypse, food began to become scarce, and Gorgonia became even more desperate to satisfy her hunger. Without hesitation, she began to devour her own subjects, one by one, until there was no one left in her kingdom. But still, her hunger was not satisfied, and she began to feed on zombies, the only beings that still roamed her kingdom”, the guild master replied. “Over time, her body became increasingly enormous, and she could barely move. Her skin became pale and flabby, with multiple mouths opening and closing on her body to devour everything it could. However, despite her monstrous size and putrid state, Gorgonia is still alive, trapped in her disfigured body and condemned to eternal agony for her insatiable hunger. She now uses her magic to lure people closer to her, seducing them with her enchanting voice and promises of wealth and power, only to devour them afterwards”, he said with an apparent grimace.

Zyra saw the concern on the guild master's face. "Right after the Butcher Zombie, something like this happens, things are getting increasingly difficult," she commented.

"The biggest problem is that this kingdom is only two days' travel from our city. From what we know, she is not able to leave that castle, but she may have the ability to control other zombies," the guild master added. "We also have no idea of her strength, but a monster that has been alive for hundreds of years cannot be weak."

Zyra nodded in agreement, worried about the threat Gorgonia posed. "We need to do something before she attacks our city, but how can we defeat her?" she asked.

"That's a good question," the guild master replied, scratching his chin thoughtfully. "We need more information about Gorgonia's powers and weaknesses before we try anything. Maybe it's better to gather a group of explorers and send them to investigate her castle along with the other cities. What do you think?"

"Yes, that's a good idea," agreed Zyra.
