Annie part 28 (Revengeful rivals...)

Meanwhile, Glenn and Sophie sat in their Mind Class, having finished their assignment early. They leaned in close to each other, their whispers a quiet murmur in the otherwise silent room.

"I bet Levi wants Annie to hate us," Sophie said, her voice tinged with frustration as she glanced over her shoulder, making sure no one was listening.

Glenn raised an eyebrow, looking puzzled. "How the hell am I involved?" she asked quietly, genuinely confused about why she was being dragged into this rivalry.

"Because you're with me, right?" Sophie replied, her tone slightly irritated as if Glenn should understand the unspoken rules of their alliance.

Glenn sighed, feeling the weight of the ongoing feud. "Of course I am... But don't you think this rivalry is a bit much?" she asked gently, remembering how Sophie and Levi's animosity had begun all the way back in the third grade.

"No!" Sophie snapped, her voice rising slightly in her frustration, drawing a few curious glances from their classmates. Ignoring the attention, she continued in a lower voice, "That guy crossed the line when he sabotaged me! I was supposed to get a 90, but that little piece of shit distracted me, and I got an 87! And then I got a two-day ban for not chatting with you!" Sophie's eyes flashed with a mix of anger and hurt, holding onto her grudge against Levi.

Glenn frowned, trying to soothe her friend. "Look, I know it's been tough, but if you both stop fighting, maybe things will get better?" she suggested, hoping to diffuse the situation.

Sophie shook her head vehemently, her expression hardening. "Nope, not happening! Not over my dead body! He's still whining about that time I made Alan cry and blamed it on Levi... He got what he deserved, a one-week ban from his computer!" Sophie said, a mix of pride and guilt flickering in her eyes as she recalled the incident.

Glenn sighed deeply, feeling disappointed. She knew Sophie was capable of being better than this vengeful behavior. But who was she to judge? She wasn't as smart or as involved in these conflicts as Sophie and Levi. Their teacher, Ms. Apple, approached them, looking stern.

As they exited, they spotted Levi nearby, his expression dark and brooding. He muttered under his breath, clenching his fists. "Bitch..." he hissed, clearly harboring his own anger.

Sophie shot him a scathing look, muttering back, "Son of a bitch..." Her eyes narrowed with a dangerous glint, and for a moment, it seemed like they might come to blows.

This feud was both problematic and childish, a brewing storm of emotions. As they passed the lockers, Sophie suddenly got an idea. Her face lit up with a mischievous grin, and she hurried to Annie's locker, pulling out a tube of elephant toothpaste—a chemical concoction known for its dramatic foamy eruption.

"What are you doing?" Glenn whispered urgently, watching in horror as Sophie planted the paste in Annie's locker, rigging it to spill out when the locker was opened. Sophie even added Levi's fingerprints to the handle, framing him for the prank.

"Are you insane?! Don't bring Annie into this!" Glenn scolded, her voice a mix of shock and anger. She grabbed Sophie's arm, trying to pull her away.

Sophie shrugged off Glenn's hand, her expression annoyed. "Happy now? I didn't mess with her stuff," she snapped, putting Annie's belongings aside. "Now be quiet, or you'll attract attention," she added, her voice dripping with irritation.

Glenn looked at her friend, disappointment and frustration clear in her eyes. "I'm leaving," she said firmly, turning on her heel and walking away, not wanting to be part of this drama.

"FINE! I DON'T NEED YOU ANYWAY!" Sophie shouted after her, her voice echoing in the hallway. She felt a pang of loneliness as Glenn walked away, but she quickly pushed it aside, clinging to her anger.

Meanwhile, Levi was sneaking back into their grade's classroom. He made his way to Annie's seat, his mind whirling with plans for retaliation. With a quick, practiced motion, he placed an invisible sticky trap on Annie's chair and then carefully positioned a strand of Sophie's hair nearby, ensuring she would be blamed for what was about to happen. He finished by setting up a small device that would squirt ink onto Annie's face when she sat down.

Levi stepped back, admiring his handiwork with a satisfied smirk. "Let's see how she likes this," he muttered to himself, picturing Sophie's reaction. The thought of her getting into trouble made him feel vindicated, a twisted sense of justice served.
