Lia and Eysha greeted Annie with a smile as soon as she walked into the classroom.
"Hey, Annie! I heard you went to the new park! Is it any good?" Lia asked eagerly, her eyes full of excitement.
"Are there hot guys?" Eysha added, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.
Annie smiled as she slid into her seat. "Yeah, it's amazing. Perfect for hanging out with friends. And there's a skatepark connected to it, so there are definitely some pretty hot guys," she said with a wink.
Just then, Ms. Mell entered the room and started handing out a short quiz about diabetes. Annie couldn't help but roll her eyes. Was this a joke or a serious lesson? Despite the unexpected topic, Annie, being the smart girl she was, aced the test in no time. After the quiz, she headed to her next class: Dark Magic. On her way, she saw Grace leaving early and decided to catch up with her.
"Hey, Grace," Annie called out, startling her a bit.
"Oh, hey!" Grace responded kindly. Annie wondered if Grace was genuinely perfect or just two-faced.
"Do you know what the lesson is today?" Annie asked.
Grace nodded. "Yeah, we're going to learn trauma magic."
"Oh, right, I remember now," Annie replied, feeling a bit anxious about the upcoming lesson.
They reached the classroom, and Annie went to her seat from the previous day.
"Hello class, today we will delve into the complexities of trauma magic," Mr. Darwin announced, holding his wand. "We will divide the class based on your magic types. Today, those who use wands will learn outside. Tomorrow is for natural magic users, and the day after for those with divine spirits. Those who aren't using wands today, please answer the questions on page 5."
Mr. Darwin led the wand users outside. Unlike the plant magic class, this class was focused and quiet. The task was to write a poem about themselves. Annie, excellent at writing, finished in five minutes. It was no wonder she won every writing contest at her old school.

Poem
In whispers, Annie's story is told,Of a soul with a mind grown old,Sixteen years young, yet wise beyond her prime,A responsibility that feels like a heavy crime.
Her thoughts are mature, her heart beats fast,Like an 18-year-old's, in a world so vast,But amidst the crowds, she's lost and alone,A silent observer, with a story unknown.
Her days are filled with empty, hollow space,A mind so sharp, yet a life so gray and base,She longs for connection, for a hand to hold,For someone to understand, this heart of gold.
Her eyes are bright, like stars in the night,Shining bright, but hidden from the light,Her smile is rare, a fleeting glimpse of glee,A glimmer of hope, in a life that's not free.
Oh, Annie's story is one of quiet pain,A girl with a mind that's aged before its time in vain,She searches for her place, her voice in the crowd,A whisper in the wind, unheard and proud.
But still she waits, with hope in her heart,For someone to see, this 16-year-old work of art,To grasp the depth, of her mature soul,And set her free, from this life so cold.
Let her know she's not alone in this fight,That there are those who see, the beauty in her light,And though her journey's long, and winding may be,Her story's one of strength, and resilience can be.

Annie glanced around to see her classmates still writing. She noticed John, deep in thought and struggling. Feeling bored, Annie rested her head on the table. After 15 minutes, Mr. Darwin returned.
"Class dismissed," Mr. Darwin said, ending the lesson.
Annie got up and decided to make friends in the plant class, where she saw her grade classmates. She noticed a tall, handsome guy who looked like a high schooler getting books for the plant class. He noticed her and smiled charmingly.
"Nice to meet you. I'm Prinze," he grinned as he shook Annie's hand. But when Annie shook his hand, she felt a shock and pulled away.

This guy is a gangster! Annie thought, now annoyed and frustrated.
Prinze laughed hysterically and patted her back. "Sorry... But... HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
Annie was about to snap at him, but Prinze handed her an ice pack. Surprised, Annie thought, This guy is charming and an asshole.
"Annie, right? Nice to meet you," Prinze grinned. "Come on, let's go to class."
As they walked to class, Annie finally saw their plant teacher.
"Thank God it's a female teacher," she thought.
"Oh, you must be Annie! I'm Ms. Lotus!" Ms. Lotus said, smiling warmly as she led Annie to her seat.
"Okay boys and single girl!" Ms. Lotus greeted.

That's a weird greeting, Annie thought.
"What's more weird is you're the only girl," Bell whispered to Annie.
"Today, we will learn how to take care of plants! I'll partner you up. Since there are only 12 of you, I'll pair you into groups of 3!" Ms. Lotus clapped her hands proudly.
The boys groaned; it was too early for a big project.
"This is also your FIRST PT!" Ms. Lotus announced.
The boys groaned even louder.
"Here are the groups! Kyle, Steven, Benjamin; Leo, James, Finn; and lastly, Michael, Annie, and Prinze."
Leo laughed at Michael. "HAHAHAHA! MICHAEL GOT STUCK WITH THE YOUNGSTERS!"
Leo laughed, but the three rolled their eyes. Prinze flipped Leo off.
"Okay everyone, settle down," Ms. Lotus said, giving each group a plant.
The first group got a pink plant, the second group a yellow plant, the third group a blue plant, and Annie's group got a red plant.

"Ma'am, why are the little plants colored like that?" Prinze asked.
"These are magical plants, Prinze! But it will be a surprise when they grow, because they will develop fully in 2 weeks! Now, each group member will take turns bringing the plant home to take care of it. Okay, class, please read page 4 to get an idea of how to raise it!"
After 25 minutes of reading, Michael spoke up. "Guys, I think Annie should raise it for 4 days, then Leo for 4 days, and I'll take care of it for 3 days. Annie can have it for 1 day, Leo for 1 day, and I'll take the last day!"
"Sounds kinda unfair, but I'm in," Prinze said, looking at Annie, who was quiet. "You in?"
"I have no choice anyway," Annie replied.
Class was done, and they headed for lunch. Annie felt a mix of excitement and nerves about the project. As they entered the cafeteria, she spotted a table near the window and headed over with Prinze and Michael.
"So, Annie," Michael began, "What do you like to do for fun?"
Annie thought for a moment. "I love reading and writing. It helps me escape and explore new worlds. What about you guys?"
"I’m into sports," Michael said with a shrug. "Especially Golf."
"And I," Prinze said with a grin, "am a bit of an adrenaline junkie. Skateboarding, parkour, you name it."
Annie laughed. "Figures, given your shocker handshake."
Prinze chuckled. "Sorry about that. It’s a family thing. We all have a bit of magic in our touch."
As they ate, Annie found herself relaxing and enjoying their company. She realized that maybe this new school wouldn’t be so bad after all. After lunch, they headed back to class for their next lesson. Annie felt a growing sense of belonging.
