CHAPTER-7.....................AN INCIDENT

POLICE HQ...................................................................................................................................

After capturing the sniper, Team George brings him to the HQ and handcuff him to the table in the interrogation room and he is unconscious. Nicholas does exactly what George told him to do by evacuating the HQ but was keen to know why George told him to do that. George and the team were outside the interrogation room discussing about the sniper. Nicholas arrives there and certainly is aware that something is going on as everyone looks like they've seen a ghost. Nicholas then turns his head and looks into the interrogation room through the glass and saw the face of the sniper. Nicholas is not able to believe what he just saw. Nicholas leaves the room, George now definitely knows that his father is hiding something from him.

Meanwhile the sniper is regaining his consciousness and finds himself in the interrogation room handcuffed to the table. The team looks at him as he completely regains his consciousness. George wants to ask him some questions and was ready to go in and interrogate him. The team calls Nicholas and he comes back to the interrogation room. George goes in and the remaining stay outside. As there is a glass in between, the team can see both the sniper and George and can listen to them as well. George sits in front of the sniper. George is completely amazed by looking at someone who looks exactly like him and the only thing the only way the team can differentiate between them is by the clothes they wear.

Sniper : George..... Tell me, today must be the day you never saw coming.

George : It seems that you know me very well, and by that I mean you do know that I exist, we look alike way before I got to know.

Sniper : Indeed George. You were quite a celebrity in the past few years, joining the Thakur's, betraying them attacking the casino, capturing Thakur, joining the force. How come a man like me not be aware of a man like you.

George : Before starting the interrogation tell me about yourself Mr.............?

Sniper : David. My name is David. Look George, I know what you're going to ask me. But just let me ask you one question, what do you know about Riaz?

George : Enough to be sure that he poses a threat to the world.

David : Just let me take a look at all the evidence you've been gathering about him, (points the board which contains all the evidences against Riaz that George's been collecting).

(George releases David and he(David) looks at the board examining all the evidences)

David : Not bad George, you did manage to get hand on evidence against Riaz covering mostly all of his crimes, failed to link it to the NETWORK though. Yeah you didn't even manage to connect all these to Riaz directly. But both you and him(pointing Nicholas) failed to gather evidence against his worst crime, the crime after which he formed THE NETWORK.

George : What's that supposed to be?

David : The way he killed 37 members in a fire spreading village, 1985. Ring any bells Nicholas?

Nicholas : No way! It's him?

David : Yes it's him and you didn't recognize him because you never got a proper look at Riaz's face. Did you tell the truth to your son?

George : What truth?

David : You were found George. You are the only survivor that's left behind in the village. Others have escaped. Nicholas and Abraham found you, this is the truth that they've been hiding from you and it's only half of the truth. I am pretty sure they don't know the other half.

(George was still in shock to listen this, but Nicholas doesn't seem to respond)

George : What's the other half?

David : You.......sorry, we.............. are the sons of RIAZ. Believe me, this is the truth.

(George couldn't believe it neither can the team.)

David : It's ok if you suspect me, but a DNA test can prove us that we are brothers.

George : (to the team) Collect his blood and do it immediately. (to David)Now you're going to tell me everything you know. This DNA test can prove that we are brothers but it's up to to tell me what made you think that I will believe whatever you say.

David : Perhaps, I can prove that Riaz is our father in the same way.

George : How?

David : The bloody murder weapon axe found in the village. He(pointing Nicholas) has every detail about it. It's the only physical evidence Riaz has ever left in the crime scene. Compare the three of them.

( George walks out of the interrogation room)

George : (to the team)Do that, and (to Nicholas)dad I need to speak to you.

(George and Nicholas walk out of the room and make sure they're private)

George : Is it him?

Nicholas : Is it who?

George : Is Riaz the man who killed 37 members in 1985?

Nicholas : Yes.

George : Why didn't you tell me?

Nicholas : I even got to know now. It's been 29 years and we've only got a sketch of how Riaz might look like. You know the picture you gave us, it took 2 days to depixalate the image and obtaining a sketch. I couldn't recognize him. But now after what David said yeah I am able to see the similarities.

George : You were never married right?

Nicholas : I never wanted you to know the truth. But now you need to know it. we found you. I mean Abraham found you in the village, but you are far from danger. The fire was never near you. We took you and searched for your parents whom we never found. Even though I adopted you, Abraham took care of you until he was sent on this mission in the mid 2000's. David might be telling the truth George. I never compared your DNA with the killer. But David seems to know more.

(A team member walks in)

Team member: Sorry to interrupt sir but the DNA samples have matched. David is telling the truth.

Nicholas : Time to know the remaining part of the incident.

(George walks in to the interrogation room)

David : Convinced.....brother?

George : Tell me everything you know.

David : (David's exposition)

Very well. That night when the fire was spreading, everyone started vacating the village, but the rivals started to attack and kill them. Our mother was escaping too. She was carrying you in her hand and she was pregnant at that time. She couldn't(David becomes emotional) make it far until one of the rivals injured her on her head.

The villagers came to rescue her. She was escaping but due to the injury, she was losing her consciousness and sat beside a temple where she kept you behind went unconscious. The villagers in a hurry didn't notice you and took her. She regained consciousness and I was born. But you were not there and neither is Riaz.

She suffered from 'hydrocephalus' due to bleeding inside the brain caused by the injury. She was treated and doctors said that she will live no longer than 10 years. Lucky for me she lived 13 years. When she was on her deathbed, she revealed and told me everything about you and Riaz. She wanted me to join the Army because I never loved this country and she wanted me to. She died and months later, I've found photos of Riaz and her personal diary. I took them and left the house, joined the army in 2009.

But in 2013 when Riaz came into existence, it caught my attention and I confirmed that when the look was revealed. I left the army and came here to kill Riaz where I saw you alive, You looked just like me, at first I was not sure but you are working for Thakur, Riaz's brother at that time. I thought Riaz might've took you and which clearly explains why mother was never able to find you. I even thought of taking you out. But you were always switching sides, leaving the gang, attacking both Thakur's and Munna's which I never understood. But I left you as without you Riaz gang would be more vulnerable. I joined the syndicates too. I was in helicopter, technically piloting it since I was the only one in the group to know that. We were so close to killing him but you spoiled the plan.

I survived the crash and when I got out after recovering from the injuries, things were completely different. You are a cop and you ceased the ship, killed Thakur. Then I understood the complete situation. Enquiring a bit further, I got to know the truth about your journey. Enquiring about the ship, I got to know about the money and the 9 men. If they are dead, Riaz's life work would go kaboom and he is wasted. Then I would kill him. I was so close.

George : You were wrong. If none of them are alive, we can never prove that Riaz has connection with the NETWORK, he dies as a normal criminal.

David : Who cares!

George : Just wait a minute, I will be right here.

(George walks out of the interrogation room and Nicholas comes towards George)

Nicholas : Are you okay?

George : I am. Why did you ask that?

Nicholas : Well he just revealed your story, you were always keen to know about your mother...............anyways why did you come out.

George : Do you have any info about the rivals or why they've set the village on fire in the first place?

Nicholas : No. You're suspecting David?

George : A part of me. According to him, he was born in 1986, 13 years later his mother, well our mother dead that is in 1999 and in 2009 he joined the army. What do you think he might've done in that 10 year gap?

Nicholas : Seriously George? You really think a 13 year old went in search of his dad who is a criminal and the world at that time doesn't even know if he exists. Why do you even think like that.

George : There's too much going on in my mind right now.

Nicholas : Even if we we think he searched for Riaz in mid 2000's, he would've never found him.

George : I am looking forward to reading the diary, something tells me he met Riaz. The diary might've helped him.

Nicholas : George do not be a fool.

George : Now what should we do with him?

Nicholas : He will be a help to us when we are going to catch Riaz. Oh by the way, I completely forgot to tell you. The operation team might've got a lead on Riaz's location. I've send an officer to be sure.

George : Why didn't you tell me?

Nicholas : This interrogation, it just kept getting a bit worse for you and me. I completely forgot that.

(Nicholas checks his phone and he gets a text from the officer who confirms that the location is right and Riaz is in there)

Nicholas : George! we got Riaz's location. Time to engage.

George : Wait what about David?

Nicholas : He can be useful to us. Listen George, first we need to find a way to secure the remaining 2 men on the list. Without them we can't prove Riaz's connection to the NETWORK. We'll discuss that with David.

George and Nicholas move to the interrogation room,

George : We need a favour from you. You need to secure the remaining 2 men on the list.

David : What makes you even think that I would do such a thing?

Nicholas : We don't have a choice David.

George : Listen David, killing Riaz will not change anything. He will be punished but he has to pay for his crimes. The NETWORK has taken so many lives, we are not the only ones affected by him.

David : You will never know brother. He abandoned me, you and our mother. You don't even know what I went through. What we went through. He must be killed.

Nicholas : David, he will be killed one way or the other. But just work with us for This one time. You will secure the 2 men remaining in the list, George and I will capture Riaz, then we all get what we want. By this George can be in two places at once. Since capturing Riaz needs to done immediately George will come with me and you(David) along with George's team secure the 2 men.

David : Just this once.

George : Just this once.

Nicholas : Ok now we need to call the force and George you need to cover your Face masking your identity.

George : I know, I got used to that.

(Meanwhile a team member walks into the interrogation room)

Team member: Sir! We just got the news and the situation is pretty bad. The remaining 2 men were abducted.

David : Now what?

Team : Sir and there is a situation developing at the ship.

Nicholas : What's happening?

Team : The ship is under attack, we believe Riaz men are trying to steal the money.

George : They can never do that. We tried to take out the money, but They need to break open the ship to take out the money. How do you think they can transport the money?

David : What if they take the ship?

George : That's what happened before.

Team : No, they're not planning on taking the ship. Just listen to this, an unknown vessel entered Mumbai waters, we believe it's a sub and it's travelling towards the ship. The money was never meant to take outside. Riaz built the ship in such a way that in this crisis, he can directly move the money to the sub from the base of the ship and the sub vanishes to the deep waters.

Nicholas : How can he possibly transport the entire pile of money to the Sub in such a short interval?

Team : Sir, the attack is just a distraction while the money gets transferred to the sub.

Nicholas : What do we do now?

George : I have a plan, Nicholas, you and I will take you team and ambush Riaz while David(as George) and my team will secure the money.

David : We need to act quick.

Nicholas : Let's go!

George and Nicholas along with the S.W.A.T team move to Riaz's location while David and George's team move to the ship's location.

Location : Riaz's hideout.........................................................................around 12.00a.m.

George : I don't understand. Why did Riaz want to kill the 9 men if the money is under their name.

Nicholas : Even I got the same doubt, but the informer cleared it. Suppose if 8 out of 9 men were killed, then all the money goes to the remaining person. Riaz will do or did the same thing, he will kill 8 of 9 men and last person will give the money to Riaz so he can use it and he will kill him too.

George, Nicholas and the team were ready to ambush Riaz but suddenly they got attacked by Riaz's men as if they were expecting them. George took cover but Nicholas was captured and taken into a room. All of George's team were being killed. Meanwhile George got a call indicating that the situation as the ship was escalated and the team required his presence. George understood everything and encouraged the team to do the best they can to secure the money. George was too angry. He started to attack Riaz's men and killed every last one of them. Only George and some of his teammates were standing.

George ordered the remaining teammates to rig the place with explosives and move as far away as possible. If George couldn't make it out in time whole place comes down taking everyone in it. George's team follows his orders and left the building after planting the explosives. George walked into the room where Nicholas was being held.

In the room, Nicholas is tied to a chair and Riaz is pointing a gun to his(Nicholas's) head. David is standing beside Riaz and as soon as George has entered the room, David and George were pointing guns to each other.

George : Why? You(to David) informed him(Riaz) about the ambush. You did not show up at the ship. Now my team is out there alone!

Riaz : Because he is my son, and you are too.

George : So, what didn't you tell me?(to David)

David : After I recovered from the crash, I went to the safe house where S.W.A.T captured you. I was looking for something useful. But, I got captured because of the bounty. They took me to him(Riaz) where I confessed the truth when they were about to kill me. Then I got to know about his(Riaz's) story.

Riaz : I never wanted to leave my family. But the situations led me to. I was a wanted man to one of the worst crimes in history. I wanted my family to be safe. But my path lead me to become who I am now. I even searched for all of you. Since I've never been able found anyone of you, I thought all of you were dead in that accident. Believe me it haunted the hell out of me. I always loved my family and I still do.

David : Come with us George. We can have a new life, a better life.

Riaz : (sees a message in his phone) We got the money. The sub is safe and vanished. Come with us George.

(George's team failed)

George looks at Nicholas while out of nowhere David shoots Riaz. George is perplexed and so is Nicholas. David yells "I've been waiting for this" and he points his gun towards George and Nicholas pushes David. David fires his gun and the bullet grazes through the surface of George's left arm and breaks the opaque glass behind him.

Both George and David lose their guns and before George can recover, David wakes up, pushes Nicholas away and jumps towards George. Both of them launch breaking the remaining portion of the glass. George and David fight each other. An intense battle ensures between them but ultimately, David gains the upper hand.

George is on the floor, David brings back his gun and points his gun to George's head and says "He(Riaz) made us the owners of the money. Since he's gone, so the money belongs to us. But now, it only belongs to me. I finally got what I deserved. Good bye brother".

As David was about to pull the trigger, he gets shot in the back. As David was falling down to the ground, it is revealed that Riaz shot him(The explosives go off and the whole place got in flames). Riaz drops the gun and when he was about to fall, George catches him. Riaz is heavily bleeding and says

"(weakened tone) I don't know about him(David) but you(George) definitely got your mother's eyes. Believe me if you want to go after that money, you are going to face a major threat. Be safe. I will always love you."

Riaz gives George a drive and dies.

Nicholas comes to the scene and tells George "George, this is no time to mourn. The money is gone. You need to act quickly. Only you can retrieve the money. George!"

George : I am listening. But I have to go undercover again. But where I am going is the main problem. There will be a council of Riazs. Dad we have only one option. Do as I say, Get out of this place, it's about to fall apart, Tell everyone that I am dead. David's body can prove that. Cover up Riaz's death. It might bring some complications regarding the money. I need to go now. Leave this place immediately. This should be only between us.

Nicholas : George, The court already warned you. This time we are faking your Death! You be careful. Now go!

George and Nicholas leave the place and the safe house comes down. George is pronounced dead and Riaz's whereabouts are unknown now. George traces the sub and with the information on the drive given to him by Riaz, he goes on to retrieve the money. George's team is still safe and they along with Nicholas assist George with his mission.

An incident which took place in 1985 forged the ways of 3 individuals and led them to the very particular moment(when they met each other). Their choices affected their respective lives. The tale as of now ended exactly in the same way it began. But, a choice has to be made every time in order to know the unknown. George is now in the journey to know the unknown.
