Vanyel stood there silently for a minute, he remembered stepping through the portal, being swallowed by the mote of light, and not much else at first but the more he thought about it he realized there was more to the memory. He thought back to that book he had found in Fistandia’s Mansion. He recognized some of what he saw as he passed through the mote and back in to this plane. The mote of light that engulfed him had propelled him through the Astral Sea, across the vast expanses of different Material Planes until finally it stopped. This serene feminine form appeared before him.

“You’re not of this plane are you little owl?” The figure said to him.

Vanyel gazed up on the silvery-white figure before him, unable to discern much beyond her form he responded “No, I am from Arcavios. I stepped through a portal one day and found myself here.” The figure reached out a hand towards him.

The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

“Well shall we get you back there then?” The figure inquired. Vanyel’s mind raced, could he really just return home that easily? And who was this figure before him. He wasn’t familiar with too many of the deities of this world, maybe she was one of them.

“I’d like to sometime but not yet. My tribe will do fine without me, but the group I’ve met here could probably use my help for a bit longer.” Vanyel replied earnestly.

“Honorable little owl you are. I unfortunately can’t send you back directly myself anyway, but I can help you on your quest to find a way home.” The figure spoke gently as she reached out a bit further and brushed Vanyel’s cheek. “My name is Selune, and I shall grant you a portion of my power to aide you in your quest. When you need to you shall be able to find more of these portals. They’re not terribly common, and you will not know where they lead, but if you call upon my aide you shall be able to know where they are, within about a mile of you and which direction. The effect won’t last long but if you rest you shall be able to do it again.”
