Chapter 9: Troy The Inferno Conquerer pt.2

"A-An Obsidian?!"

"Leader ain't joking around, you saw his face right?"

"Hm? What seems to be a problem? Is it a high class Rock Dragon or what?"

"O-Oh right... You haven't heard of it"

"Listen closely lass, it's an Inferno Magma Dragon. The most dangerous of them all, well they're only praised for their teamwork while hunting as a pack. But when one is alone, we called them Obsidian! It's a low tier S-rank monster but even 3 parties of S-ranks ain't even gonna hurt the damn thing!"

"Huh..."

I came back to the group when finished my scouting on the Obsidian.

"Troy! There you are!"

"How's the situation, leader?"

"Just like you said, it's all weaken. The lava and heat from its body are all gone and its aimlessly walking around the forest, burning down trees to keep itself from going out"

"Heh, even if it's stronger than Ember it's weak when it has nothing to absorb heat from..."

"So... How are we going to do this, leader?"

"Helen!"

"H-Huh?"

"You cast Earth Shackles to immobilized it!"

"G-Got it!"

"Hector, you charge in with me and Kokoharu, make sure to watch our backs and Helen's!"

"Bahaha, it's a good day to die!"

"Understood!"

A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

I had set the plan into motion, I was sure that our success was set in stone. The timing of everything was just so perfect that I couldn't let it go, bringing the head and location back to the Guild would be enough to last us for a life time!

We were setting up the ambush, hiding behind the rocks and trees. With Kokoharu applying Camouflage and me adding Stealth, we blended into our surroundings perfectly.

"Ready?" I said as I looked into Helen's eyes as she finished preparing her spell. "Ready!" She said with no hesitation and looked at me with confidence in her eyes and a slight hint of fear.

Obsidian had walked to the opening area that Hector had predicted by using its walking patterns.

"Gyooohh!" It produced a terrifying roar that the birds all flew away in an instant. Because it got caught by Helen's Earth Shackle holding it in place, there's no stopping us from going in.

Hector heard its cries as a signal. He rushed in and hit the beast with his signature move "Mountain Slash", he didn't yell it out but as soon as I heard *Clang* I followed in afterwards. I unsheathed my trusty Rachel, using the One-hand Sword technique I made a decisive swing at its neck *Clank!*. It bounced off like it was nothing and our camouflage disappeared right after we attacked so there was no helping it.

I saw that Hector didn't even barely scratch as well but he wasn't stopping there. He kept on slashing away at the thing. I moved back a bit, on high alert and watched as it didn't do anything but kept his head low. Was it admitting defeat? Was it that weak to do nothing? Or... Was it something else entirely? I couldn't keep my head straight with an S-rank monster and I decided to slash away at its neck. While Helen boosted our attacks with Strengthening Magic, making our blows now easier to tear away at its scale.

I quickly smirked confidently while looking at the hopelessly beast "Hehh, you're nothing when you don't have your heat!" I raised Rachel up into the air, both my hands were grabbing on tightly to the hilt and was about to performed my Heavy Two-handed Sword technique "Guillotine" right at its neck.

"GYYOOOOOHHHH!!!!!!" But it suddenly gave way for an ear splitting roar, shaking the ground beneath it making my stand unstable for a little bit. And when it ended, I saw Hector was thrown back from his position and was slammed against trees after trees as they all broke from his impact. That guy whose weight and body must be hard to even lift up the ground had been easily taken care of by the Obsidian's one tail swing.

Seeing this I decided to finish my move because for damn sure I knew that Hector wasn't going down by just a measly slap from a dragon's behind. Both of my hands were as steady and firm as ever as slammed it down onto its neck with the sheer force of intent to kill.

*Clangggggg!*

Again! I hit it with all of my might and yet it still bounced right off. And before I knew it, its tail came into contact with stomach and got sent flying through the air before blacking out entirely.
