Chapter 1: Small Beginnings

Chapter 1: Small Beginnings

It's the year 4051 on the land of Titan Falls. One of its capital proudly named- Evergreen, people can be spotted walking around its streets. Merchants, shoppers, adventurers and passerby, all were human.

Sounds of argument can be heard near an apple store. The voice comes from a young boy, seems to be around 7 or 8 years old. The other is from a middle aged traveling merchant selling foods.

"Oi, oi! Be careful of who yer doing businesses here! I can't lower the cost below 5 copper coins,"

"B-But, I only have 2! Can't you lower it a bit more for me?"

"Tch, are you trying to run me out of business here?! Get lost if you don't have any money, ye hear me!"

The merchant then pushes the boy, he then falls on the dirty ground.

"Hey! Cut him some slack, won't you?" A voice rang out from behind the boy. It was a tall, hooded figure, the brown hood covered his eyes and body, only his mouth and chin are visible to others. As well as a massive sword behind his back, giving out a dangerous yet mysterious aura.

"What do you know about running a business, stupid swordsman?"

"Ehh, not much? I skipped school soo-"

"So, you know nothing! I can't have broke people at my stall, get lost!"

The hooded swordsman then threw a small pouch of coins at him. He spoke "Money, eh? I'll buy about hmm... A dozen or so apples, sounds good?"

The merchant gulped as he opened up the pouch to see over a hundred of copper coins. "Hehe, pleasure doing business with you," smiled the merchant mischievously.

Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

The wandering swordsman then turned to the kid and spoke "Didn't your parents say that you need money to buy things, kiddo?"

"I'm sorry, mister! B-But my mom, she's sick s-so I thought that buying her an apple with the money I got would cure her!"

"Sick, huh? No doctors around where you live? Or anyone with healing spells?"

"N-No, we live in a village far away from the capital, near the borders actually sir..."

"Oh ho! That's.... Really far away, wait... How did you get from there to here?"

"Oh uh... W-Well, I stowed away on some trains to get here,"

"Why didn't you go ask some adventures crossing by the towns there? I'm pretty sure there's a guild or two there, right?"

"R-Right, w-well I did ask but they charged me with a ridiculous amount of money!"

"Tsk! Those pesky no gooders! Alright, you know what? Take me to your mother, let's see what I can do for her,"

"H-Huh? Y-You... would really do that for me, mister? B-But-"

"No need to repay me! Haha! I got time to spare!"

The wandering swordsman pat the kid on the head gently and smiled. The warmth of his hand and the sun shinning, gave the boy a tingly sensation as he cried.

When they traveled to a train station, the boy remembered that he didn't ask his saviour's name or gave his own.

"Oh um... I apologize for my rude manners, sir! M-My name is Krey! A-And, might I ask yours?"

"Oh? Sure kid... The name's Troy, I'm an S-class swordsman! This beauty behind me is Rachel- a sword made out of red dragon scales, I found her in a dungeon"

"Oh wow! So cool~" the boy named Krey said with his eyes shinning with admiration.

"Hehe, of course it is!" Said Troy with a toothy grin.

"S-So, do they sing songs about you mister Troy?"

"Call me Troy, kid! And uh... Not yet but someday they will! I bet my whole life on it! Hahaha!"

"Your a nobody then! Fufufu!"

"Tsk! Why you little!"

"Hahaha,"

"Hahahaha,"

The two laughed and joked along the way, as they took the train and rode off to Dunshin village near the borders. A couple of hours pass...

"That was a long ride! So, where's your house?"

"Oh um... It's there!" Said the boy pointing at a brokedown wooden cabin near the edge of the village.

"Sheesh, where's your father?"

"He's um... he was killed by a monster..."

"Oh... My bad, sorry for your lost, kid"

"It's fine... It's been 3 years since then, I've toughen up a bit! So I can protect my mother!"

"Haha! Atta boy! Now those are some big boy words right there!"

The village is definitely rural to say the least, with its house made out of woods and straws, some are made out of bricks. There's an Adventurer's Guild near the middle of the town and what seems to look like a Chieftain's house besides it with medic hut. There are less people walking around here than at the capital but it still look lively. Since it was near the border, the Adventurer's Guild looked a bit deserted, seems like not many adventurers would go out here to take on some tasks like near the capital.

Krey led you through the village, showing its sights and friendly people. A small wooden cabin can be spotted near the outskirt of the village, cozy looking with fire coming out of the small stone chimney.
