On the coastline, resting with your party, you see a Ducklett. From afar, it’s obvious something is amiss, and as you get closer, you realize her left wing is broken, and she seems to have been separated from her flock.
You can take it upon yourself to heal her and reunite her with her family, as a side quest, or you can leave.
After some potions, magic from your cleric, and a bit of time, her wing is fixed, but the muscles have still atrophied some.
Choosing the romance path sees you spending time with her, helping her build up her wing muscles and sense of balance, and catching her when she can no longer stay in the air. You catch fish with her and cook some for her to try, and she tells you about her family and aspirations over dinner.
Determined to repay you and the party for your kindness, she becomes a dedicated scout. Flying ahead, she identifies landmarks, potential threats, and foils ambushes with her keen eyesight time and time again.
Following her side quest, you track her flock and eventually catch up to them.
From here there, you have two paths. If you’ve not romanced her, she thanks you profusely for your help once again and rejoins her flock. At the end of the game, she and her flock arrive to assist you in the final confrontation against the BBEG.

If you’ve romanced her, when you locate her flock, she’s torn between going with them and remaining with you. She asks you what she should do, and you can tell her the decision is up to her. If you do, she reluctantly goes with her flock, but not before flying onto your shoulder and giving you a very long hug.
The next time you long rest by a body of water, you’re preparing to go to bed when you hear a familiar voice from the water. It’s her, but she’s evolved into a breathtakingly beautiful Swanna.
She walks up to you, rests her forehead on yours, and wraps her now much longer wings around you.
“I love my flock, my family. My parents, brothers, and sisters mean so much to me. But as I spent some time talking with them, I realized something. You’re my family, too, and I want to stay by your side.”
“Swanna mate for life. My parents have always said their most cherished memory is of performing their mating dance together, when they knew the other was the One.”
“Tav… May I have this dance?”
She becomes a permanent member of your party. You and every other member permanently gain the Swanna’s Keen Eyes characteristic - immune to surprise, cannot be blinded, and gain +5 to initiative rolls. Her flock assists you during the final battle against the BBEG, and your party gets a reputation boost with all flying types as the flock spreads stories of your love, generosity and exploits.
