Traveling down a forgotten road in an overgrown forest, your group comes across an abandoned crossroads. With a single lit lantern atop the myriad signs, you find a single individual in the light. A Weavile, staring hopelessly at the lantern above. He says not a word as you approach, and when he turns to face you, a strange feeling hits the group.
He introduces himself simply: he is a pokemon for hire. A mercenary. Though he is unsure how he came to find himself at the crossroads, nor how he found himself in the company of you and your fellows, he expresses an interest in joining you. Claiming to feel a strange pull towards you group, you can deny him should you so wish. If so, he will leave into the darkness of the woods- never to be seen again.
He is a quiet 'mon, you soon find. He often speaks nary a word upon the road, and camp often only works out a few quiet, if morbid, jokes from the Weavile. His demeanor shifts, however, upon the sighting of any who would harm the innocent or defenseless. Cruel and vicious with both claw and pistol alike, he rips into the party's foes with wild fury and unerring determination.
Taking the time to talk with him, despite his silence each and every time, he eventually begins to open up to the party. He speaks of his past life- that of a Highwayman, a Brigand. Regaling his time within a prison of some unnamed town and of the life he lived upon the Hunt, he grows silent upon the question of why he left that life behind. Though it takes many quiet moments over many quiet nights, he pulls you aside one evening to speak a short ways from the camp.

Sitting down along the side of some long-forgotten creek, he tells you of his final heist. Done in desperation by a sick and starving man on the run, he took up the offer of an unscrupulous employer. It was a simple job- a carriage, said to be loaded with the spoils of a noble. All he had to do was kill the guards and break open the convoy.
He tells you of the horror he felt upon seeing the bloodied and bullet-ridden bodies of a mother and her child within the broken door of the carriage. Guilt, he reminisced, was a pursuer he found he could not escape. It was that chain that led him to the crossroads on that quiet night, and that led him to your group.
Looking at you, he asks a simple question: knowing his ultimate crime, and the sins he bears, would you still allow him to accompany you unto the end of your task? Would you help him achieve the redemption he dearly sought for his deeds?
With a single nod and an embrace, the Weavile breaks. Shuddering and sobbing in your arms, he pledges himself to your cause... and to you. For allowing him a chance to make up for his sins. For allowing him to find a new friend... a new partner in you.
