Chapter 15: The Guildmaster

All three jumped. Dricea held on tightly to Sat, she would never have allowed the wind to take him away. In any case, after being sucked through the two pillars, they found themselves not beyond them, but near a lake, into which a small river flowed.

"Here we are, we have arrived." in saying this, he adjusted his hat, then got up from the ground. He also wiped his clothes with a handkerchief, they were soiled with earth. Sat and Dricea did the same, but with their hands instead of a cloth handkerchief.

"Where are we? It doesn't look like the same grove as before..." Sat looked around "The trees are different, taller and thicker... Not much light comes in."

Dricea also looked around. Where had they gone? She was sure magic had something to do with it, as the magical density during the wind and then the sucking had increased dramatically. Could it have been one of the so-called magic portals?

To remove his doubt, she asked Fracius the following question "That was a magic portal just now, wasn't it?"

"Yes, but nothing to do with yours."

"What do you mean?" asked Sat.

The answer was Fracius, who explained how he too had been transported to this world through a magic portal, only extremely more powerful and complex.

However, at that point Dricea intervened "You are mistaken, the one I used to summon him and the first and second heroes was not a magic portal, but a summoning ritual."

"Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that the same thing as a magic portal?"

"No, since for a summoning ritual you don't just use magic, or the aether, as it were, but something else as well."

"Meaning?"

"Yeah, or rather?" even Sat was curious to know.

"That I cannot tell you, as I am no longer aware of it either. I only remember that something else was needed, but not what specifically."

"Wait, wait. Did you forget?"

"That's right, in this way I will never be able to do another one."

After that, they continued on their way until they stopped at a sign that read 'No entry for non-friends'.

At that point, the demon raised his voice, shouting "Prionzo! Are you there?! Are you home?!"

Which house was he referring to? There, beyond the signpost, was nothing, only forest.

"Prionzo!" he stopped shouting "Wait for me here, I'll be right back." he passed the sign, disappearing into thin air. He literally became invisible.

"Wow!" unbelievable, thought Sat. He, too, wanted to become invisible, so he put his hand in the direction of the airspace above the sign, but an instant before he could step into it Dricea grabbed his arm.

"Try that, and you'll lose it."

"What are you referring to?"

"The arm."

"Oh!" he withdrew it immediately, he didn't want to lose it.

A few minutes later, Fracius reappeared, and with him also a good-looking human, but dressed like someone who had just finished fishing. He was even holding a sort of DIY fishing rod.

The newcomer looked down on them. He was no more than two metres tall, Sat no more than six feet, and Dricea no more than five feet.

He also had a well-groomed beard, almost down to zero. And he was also bald.

"So, you're the new guy." he said, referring to Sat, then patted him on the arm "Nice to meet you, I'm Prionzo Patuto, the guildmaster of the adventurer's guild in the city of Scelevo."

"I Sat, the pleasure is mine," what a raspy voice the tall man had.

"Who are you, instead, young lady?"

Dricea, just before he arrived, had put her hood back on "Triva, the youngest of Sat's three sisters."

"I see. Nice to meet you too, Triva." to her he didn't pat her arm, he didn't want to risk hurting her.

"So, Sat! I've been told by my friend here that you're very good at being an adventurer, which is why you decided to join my guild."

"Brought in to be an adventurer? Let's not exaggerate..." he understood perfectly well that the demon had lied to him in order to make him look good, in fact, he smiled at him with a certain satisfaction, and nodded at the tall man's every word "I get by, let's say... Or at least trying to."

Prionzo burst out laughing "Come on, don't be modest, Sat!" then, he became as serious as at first all of a sudden "I was only joking. I understand Fracius wanted to do you a favour by speaking well of you, but I know a good adventurer from someone like you."

Fracius was speechless, his friend was making him look bad in front of the last of the ancestral golems and the third hero, but this Prionzo could not have known, he had not revealed to him the true identity of the two in front of him.

"Like me? Meaning?" Sat crossed his arms, he was ready to attack.

"Hey, tone it down, brat. I'm still older than you, so at least show me some respect."

"Respect?" he pointed his shoveled right hand at him "Fuck off!"
