The sun flew down as its ray of light turned darkish orange indicating the time to be afternoon. The cloud fluttered around as its fluffiness filled the sky with a hint of tangerine color mixed with dim yet gloomy clouds flowing towards our direction.
I looked across the sky and sighed. My second day of being transported in another world was cut short by a looming presence of rain.
I stared at Kara besides me as she was done eating lunch and saw the dark cloud with worry. A thunderous sound soared in the distance as it gave a fright to nearby wild forest fauna. The sky boasted hundreds of birds that could be seen flying off erratically.
I looked at the sky once more, an ominous figure could be seen flying around in the distance as its wings flap majestically as it flies closer above us, the graceful gesture made by the creature was followed by a deafening sound of thunder.
The rain was inching closer to us as the figure flew almost directly above us. The creature's big eyes skimmed the surrounding forest below it. Its tough scales could be seen brimming with a hint of light blue and azure color. Kara was observing the creature with great interest and excitement.
"It's a dragon! Miss Yuzu! A thunder dragon!" Kara screamed excitedly as she pointed at the creature that flew right by us. Her eyes were brimming with enthusiasm as her mouse ears twitched frantically in eagerness.
As the dragon flew away, I could barely see anything around its neck as its wings were brimming with light of azure blue. The object around its neck flashed a bright red light followed by the shriek of the dragon right before it left our vision.
Right before the rain poured down to drench our clothes, I immediately materialized my house back from earth into existence as I grabbed Kara's hand and ran toward the front door.
We sighed in relief at the same beat as we arrived on the inside of a typical looking house that you can find anywhere in Japan. Kara looked amazed at the sight of inside a modern house filled with furniture and sofa, even TV. Although it didn’t have any network connection, it can still work even though it only plays past TV programs that I remembered watching using my memories as the catalyst to turn the TV on. I didn’t have the intention to do that though.
Looking inside the house gave me a nostalgic feeling even though I've only been away from earth for two days. The lights were on even though there was no electricity supply. Every electronic device still functioned as normal.
"I'm home," I said as I walked toward the living room. Kara followed me while hesitating as she walked while observing everything carefully inside my house which made me self-conscious.
"P-pardon the intrusion," Kara nervously said while glancing at her surroundings, as it was her first time entering my house. She visited my room before as I only materialized my bedroom yesterday, however this time she could see the entirety of my house. She walked towards the window to see a heavy rain outside the window.
Kara sighed at the scenery as she muttered, "Mr. Dragon was so cool..." The heavy rain continued to fall down without any sign of stopping.
I watched her in silence as her eyes were brimming with traces of excitement from before.
"Is it normal for a dragon to have a collar?" I asked curiously, which was met with a look of puzzlement crossed her face. Her mouse ears fluttered in confusion as she fell in deep thought
"I... I'm not sure about that," the mouse girl replied. Her expression was puzzled, perhaps she didn't see the collar that the dragon was wearing before, even though the collar was completely visible. Considering Kara was a mouse girl, perhaps her eyesight might be poor just like a mouse, if that was the case I should’ve made glasses for her.
I tried to imagine Kara with different kinds of glasses and every imagination I got was met with an adorable little princess of Kara. She would look cute in anything. As I was daydreaming, Kara stared at me with a confused expression on her face.
The clock on the wall gave an indicator that the time was 4:30 PM, yet the sky was filled with dimmed clouds. The rain intensity increased as the lightning struck the ground more frequently.
"It's a bit early, but oh well, let's take a bath!" I yelled with enthusiasm as my voice was overwhelmed by the sound of the rain.
Kara's expression sprung into excitement as I took her hand into the bathroom. Kara took her time at first observing the bathroom, however she quickly followed my lead as I started to undress.
"You're so beautiful, Miss Yuzu," Kara stated as she watched intensely at me.
The sudden compliment made me embarrassed. I simply couldn't let her see that, so I simply just answered her with, "You're cuter, Kara." which was met with a reverberating yet adorable squeal from Kara.
I sat down in the pre-heated bathtub as Kara followed suit. It was a little cramped for two people. However, she was small enough for it to not have any effect on space. After we were done, we took turns washing each other's backs. Kara was scared of the shower at first, but the warmth of the water calmed her down.
"Here's your towel," I said while giving her a towel. Kara took it gently as she started to rub her hair and ears adorably.
As the time was setting into evening, I took some pajamas and gave it to her. It was a little too big, yet she looked comfortable with it as she smiled.
We wore matching hooded pajamas. She wore yellow pajamas with mouse ears hood to match with her ears, while I wore a blue hooded pajama with cat ears hood.
As the rain grew weaker, I guided Kara to the living room to sit on the sofa. She sat down awkwardly.
"I'll make dinner, so be comfortable for a moment, okay?" I said as I was leaving to the kitchen, only to be stopped before I could even walk.
"I, um, let me cook for dinner instead," Kara requested nervously. Her expression was pale. She uncomfortably twitched as her hand touched her neck reflexively with an unpleasant expression. Her wrists were trembling, and her eyes were filled with fear.
"Are you okay?" I asked worryingly as I held her hand to check for any abnormality within her health, however there doesn't seem to be anything particularly wrong with her physically, "I-I'm fine," Kara weakly responded.
"L-let me handle it, I can cook!" Kara insisted, I thought to myself for a while.
Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
"Alright, you're gonna help me, okay? How does that sound?" I asked which was replied immediately with a nod by Kara.
I couldn't possibly let an adorable little girl like her to cook alone. But, I didn't want her to be left out as well, so this was a fair compromise, I thought. Also, the cooking utensils might differ a little from this world standard.
We made dinner in a swift moment. I was worried before to let her use a sharp knife, however she managed to chop and cut vegetables skillfully better than I was.
I gave her direction on what ingredients to pick from the fridge. She was having trouble at first for finding ingredients she wasn't used to, as this world's food and plants differ from earth. Even then, she learned it quickly, maybe a little bit too quickly.
While wearing hooded pajamas, we put our dinner in the dining room. We ate dinner in silence. The dinner consisted of simple curry chicken salad. Kara gobbled it up in just a few moments with a tear in her eyes.
"Is... Is this a dream?" Kara's eyes were filled with doubt as she looked at her surroundings once more. I could only smile at her reaction. Her pure eyes stared at me innocently as she ate dinner.
"Well, what do you want to do now?" I asked, Kara fell into deep thoughts as her eyes filled with question and contemplation.
"I... don't know, I have nowhere else to go,” Kara answered with a weak voice. Her eyes looked a lot like a lost puppy. Her mouse ears stoop down weakly.
I looked across the window. The rain finally stopped as the sky gave a bright, beautiful starlight. The moonlight appeared as the dark clouds dissipated after the rain.
"Well, let's think about that tomorrow, let's sleep first." I said as I grabbed her hand while we walked towards my room upstairs.
I opened the door to get inside. Kara as usual looked around the room first. This was her second visit to my room. Her eyes were filled with somewhat familiarity.
"Welcome to my room!" I welcomed her with a warm smile, similar to how Sekai-chan introduced me into her room before I got into this universe. It was met by Kara smiling at my words. She looked around curiously as she caught a glimpse of a nostalgic picture of my high school friends and I on a field trip.
"Um, I-is this a painting of Miss Yuzu and other goddesses?" Kara asked curiously as she looked closer towards the portrait. I subtly sighed at her question.
"Kara, I forgot to tell you this, but I'm not the goddess," I explained before she thought too highly of me, which was met with a confused expression of Kara.
"B-but, everything about Miss Yuzu is otherworldly!" Kara questioned further.
"Well, you're right about that, however in this world, I only came here to have fun." I explained further truthfully. I'm not from this world after all, so it's not unusual for her to have that kind of reasoning. Kara took a second before she gave a satisfied nod of understanding.
"I see, um, s-so that means Miss Yuzu is disguising herself to visit the mortal realm!" Kara smiled as she gave a conclusion. I tried to correct her immediately however she gave an adorable yawn that stopped me. She rubbed her eyes in sleepiness.
"Oh well, it's time to sleep." I escorted Kara into her bed. It barely fit two people, however Kara's figure was small enough for the bed to feel spacious even with Kara in it. Her pajamas snuck adorably as she made her way laying in the bed.
"Are you not gonna sleep, Miss Yuzu?" Kara asked as her petite body laid down comfortably in my bed covered with a fluffy blanket.
I looked across the window once more, as the beautiful tranquil atmosphere filled the forest, I closed the window curtain.
"I'll sleep later, I still have something to do," I said. Kara yawned once more as her eyes couldn't take it anymore. She went into the deep slumber as her mouth muttered "good night," without her realizing it
"Good night, sweetie," I replied as I patted her while she's asleep. I stared at her one more time before turning the lights off.

"I don't remember ever inviting a guest to come over." I stared calmly at the person in front of me. A young looking adult with relatively average facial features, although somewhat handsome with long blonde hair.
He calmly assessed my figure with a rational look in his eyes. A tall looking guy was standing beside him as his figure was towering the group behind him. It was a party of eight people. They all wore different kinds of equipment and weapons.
I was still wearing hooded pajamas with a cat ears hood as it covered my hair. It was a comfy pair of pajamas I treasured as my first purchase of light novel merchandise, which was Sekai-chan's pajamas. I'd like to think it made me feel intimidated. The hooded pajamas somewhat hid a little bit of my facial expression and features.
I took a quick glance back behind me. I could see the front door of my house, while Kara was sleeping inside. I could hear an annoyed sigh from the tall person in the party of eight in front of me. He looked agitated.
The somewhat handsome guy I was staring at calmed the tall guy down as he looked at my house. Annoyed, I asked with an irritated tone, "Do you need something?" as the moon luminates the group in front of me. The light from my house shone brightly as the light encompassed the presence of the party in front of me.
"Is this your house, little kitten?" the handsome guy asked with an infuriating tone. It seemed like he was the leader of the group. I couldn't care less as I shot him an icy glance at his remark.
"Yes, and if you don't need anything else, please leave," I said with a harsh tone. Their eyes were filled with rage after hearing that. I really couldn't care less. They were wasting my precious time sleeping with Kara.
"Give respect to your elders!" a small looking boy warned. He couldn't be taller than Kara. However, his age might be even higher than mine.
The entire group consisted of a key feature that unified them all. Their ears were long and pointy. There was no mistake. They must be a group of elves, creatures that only existed in stories and light novels.
The tall guy couldn't hold his anger any longer as he walked toward me, which was stopped by the handsome guy.
"Calm down, we're not here to fight, we're here to search for someone,” the handsome guy calmly explained.
I sighed, "Explain, and make it quick.”
"We're looking for a mouse tribe roughly the size of a small child, do you have any clue of where she is?" the somewhat handsome elves explained further.
I pretended to recall any info, and gave a simple shrug. I simply answered, "no."
Hearing my answer, the tall elves felt irritated as he walked closer toward me. "If we found out that you killed her, I'll slice you into pieces you damn cat tribe monster!" His angry tone was followed by him unsheathing a greatsword he carried on his back. He pointed the greatsword toward me as his eyes glimmered with rage.
"Calm down, Clay, we're not here to fight." The somewhat handsome guy stepped in as he stopped the tall guy from pointing his greatsword at me.
The tense atmospheric situation dissipated slowly as the tall guy sheathed his greatsword back as he moved away from me creating a distance.
"We'll take our leave for now, but if you do find out anything about her, please let us know." The handsome guy said with a gentle smile. He led the group into the deep part of the forest in the middle of the starry night.
I looked around at my surroundings, there doesn't seem to be a nearby camp around my house, traveling at night in the deep dark forest sounds scary, yet it seems like those guys were able to do that just fine, was it perhaps because they're elves?
They appeared so suddenly. I could sense some hostility and caution behind their words and actions, yet their tone sounded condescending or perhaps they were simply bad at conversation. Either way, I couldn't accept myself to bring them some hospitality unless they stop themselves with their animosity and annoying tone towards me.
Perhaps they were good people, but their attitudes needed work, or maybe I was being childish. Anyway, based on the information they gave and the description of the person they were searching for, it seemed that they were looking for Kara, or similar girl like her.
In the end, I still didn't know Kara's side of the story, I could simply talk about it with her tomorrow. For now, sleeping with Kara is my priority.
I stared at the normal looking modern house in the middle of the forest, perhaps the light gave away its location as it sticks out like a sore thumb. I didn't consider that at all.
I already placed countermeasures to protect my house with some convenient spell using my imagination. No one should be able to break or cause any damage to the exterior of the house. However, I forgot the key feature to hide the house itself.
I yawned sleepily, as I opened the door into my house. I walked towards the bedroom as I prepared to go to bed. Kara slept noisily as her face fell into uncomfortable expression while her eyes were shut as she was sleeping.
"Mom... Dad... Where are you...?" Kara talked while her eyes were shut tight uncomfortably. I reflexively comforted her by patting her softly. Her eyes relaxed as she continued to sleep.
