Me and Jekyll trained for hours till I was able to form the fire without it being too hard.Jekyll then spoke” Alright, you need to learn how to block spells if you want to have any chance of not dying immediately in a battle, first you will need to take the mana in your body and use as a sort of shell, how you do this is taking the mana and imagine it expanding inside you moving to every edge of your body and keeping it their, this will take you at least a few days to get down.”

Jekyll then walked back into the den.”Where are you going?” I said,”inside you don't need my help for this you're just going to have to learn this one on your own.” Jekyll said in an affirming tone, I sat down with my legs crossed and closed my eyes and tried to clear my head. I sat there with the sound of a small breeze blowing and the birds chirping, sitting there longer the sounds began to fade, I felt my mana begin to spread but it stopped almost like there was a barrier stopping me from getting my mana where it needs to be.

I had been sitting there for what seemed like hours, but it didn't seem to make a difference. Before I even realized it had already gotten dark. “ It’s getting dark out, you need to come inside.” Jekyll said, I stood up slowly stretching my legs out that were sore from being in the same position for hours, then i walked inside

Jekyll looked at me as I crawled in then spoke.” We need to get some rest. I've got some more training for you, you'll just have to work on the defense part of the magic at the end of training every day till you get it down.” I didn’t have any response for him as I layed down in the same spot as the night before. Laying there I thought of how my world had been turned upside down with no hint, I had been so focused on just staying safe that I hadn't even had time to adjust.

I kept on thinking of what had led me to where I was now, before I had even realized I was asleep.”Keep on running Gust, don’t stop!” Jekyll yelled, I turned around and saw a terrifying sight. The monster that was chasing us was right behind Jekyll. Then it hit him, Jekyll slided to the side hitting a tree hard, luckily at the last second he had used mana to strengthen his defense. While it stopped a lot of the damage he was slow to get up. Standing there he opened his muzzle and shot out a GIANT ball of flame hitting the monster, but it didn't stop its pursuit of Jekyll. I stopped in my tracks mustering up the strongest fire stream I could and shot it at the monster, it met its mark. The monster looked at me almost with a look of surprise but it seemed to think that it wasn't even worth the effort to attack me, it kept its pursuit of Jekyll, the monster grabbed Jekyll and threw him into the ground with a hard THUD.

I woke up sweating hard, I looked around the dim den and saw Jekyll sleeping soundly.

“God, I'm having some wild nightmares.” I sat up and crossed my legs and thought to myself” I might as well try to practice my mana defense since im awake now” Not seconds into starting Jekyll jumped up and yelled “Whose their”, I jumped up being startled by him and said “ what’s wrong he looked at me then said “ What are you doing?” “i'm practicing my defense i couldn't sleep.”,Jekyll then spoke “ I should have explained this before, Focusing any sort of mana will alert most people or animals that are even slightly skilled in the ways of magic to your presence, unless you are strong enough to hide it.”,” sorry Jekyll.” I said,” It’s fine I should have explained that to you earlier, it just slipped my mind...You can continue your practice, I'm going back to sleep.”, I sat back down and closed my eyes, continuing the practice till morning. After what seemed like a few hours I heard birds chirping outside and right on queue Jekyll woke up and stood up stretching his front legs out and said.”I'm starving. I don't know about you but I could go for a good piece of deer meat.”,”yeah me t-growl-” Jekyll then chuckled and said “yep I bet i'll go and try to get us a deer, you stay here and get a fire going outside.”Jekyll walked outside and got to work. I followed soon after and began picking up sticks and small branches.

After probably twenty minutes, I started to wonder where Jekyll was and then not three minutes later I heard some rustling off to my side and saw Jekyll carrying a doe. He walked up to me then dropped the doe by my side then sat down. I then said,”Looks like a successful hunt Jekyll.”,”Thanks Gust, it usually takes me a good bit longer but I got lucky.” He then began to eat and he tore out a piece of meat and tossed it to me. I picked up the raw piece of meat and used my mana to start the fire. I took the meat and used one of the sticks and shoved it through the meat to use as a kabob to cook my food with.

“Make sure you eat good your going to need the energy for today's training.” Jekyll said with blood staining the white fur around his muzzle.
