“Get up, hey Gust get up.” I opened my eyes and looked over and saw Jekyll looking at me “You need to eat.” Jekyll said, I sat up, looked over and saw Jekyll had found a few apples.
“Where'd you find those?” I said, “I found them while I was out for a walk this morning, You've been sleeping all morning it's almost lunch time.
I sat up straight and grabbed one of the apples Jekyll had found, I normally would have been a picky eater but this was nice to have especially considering I had only had venison to eat for the past few weeks.
“There's something I should explain to you, Gust.” I looked at Jekyll and said “What is it?” “You know how I told you about the four elements.”,”Yeah.” I said
“Well there's more to magic than what I have told you, I should have told you but I didn't think you would need to know, I may seem very powerful to you but there's a lot I don't know about I have never had a teacher and that has not helped me.”
I looked at Jekyll and said “Thanks for telling me Jekyll, I don't care if you know everything you have been a great teacher to me, but I need to get a lot stronger. I want to find a way to help my friend Cal, do you know how I would find someone who could teach me the other parts of magic?”
Jekyll then responded “Yes I know there are schools where humans can go to learn magic, but to get into most of these schools you have to fight to earn a spot. And you still need to learn how to use a mana defense shell if you want to have a chance to get in.”
“I need to start practicing now if I want to get in.” I said, I started to get up but I couldnt I stand
Jekyll looked at me for a second and said “You need to relax, you're still exhausted from your fight yesterday, you wont start training till tomorrow.”

I listened to what Jekyll had to say and layed back down and continued to eat the apple Jekyll had given to me. “I wonder how much Jekyll doesn't know.” I thought to myself. After I had finished my apple I tossed it away “Hey Jekyll, when we rescued those dogs why didn't they talk?”
“I'm not sure, I assume they just didn't have much to say. plus it's not normal for a human to talk to animals.” Jekyll then laid down “Yeah. I suppose you're right.”
I laid my head down and closed my eyes and was back asleep just as fast as I had woke up.
“Cal!, Cal!, Cal this isn't funny man, where are you?!” I looked at the rapids trying to spot anything but I found nothing,”NO Cal !” I fell down to the ground and began to cry “This is my fault, why did I think I could get through those rapids!”
I sprung awake and Jekyll was looking at me with a worried expression. “Are you ok Gust?” I put my hands over my face and said “Yeah just some bad nightmares.” Jekyll then said “You want to talk about it?”
“No… I'll be ok.” I said, I stood up slowly and stretched out my legs that were sore from not moving. Jekyll followed me as I walked out from the cave we were at and said “Where going to take it easy today so you don't stress yourself too much, now sit down and cross your legs like I told you and try to form your mana around your body.” I did what he said and began to clear my head.
After an hour of trying this It still felt the same as always, almost like there was something holding me back. “I can't get it Jekyll, no matter how hard I try it just doesn't work.”
“You're not clearing your head, when you do it there's something you're holding on to, you just won't let it leave. Ignore it” Jekyll said in response with a commanding voice.
I began to clear my head again this time trying my hardest to ignore even the smallest thoughts. I began, I kept my focus purely on my mana as I moved it throughout my body. This time something was different, I felt my mana on the outer edge of my body. “I got it!” I yelled
“Good job Gust, now do it again and keep it there for as long as you can.” Jekyll said. I did as he said and started to do it again.
Almost right after I started to do it, it stopped “Go again.” Jekyll said. I kept at it for hours only holding for ten seconds at the longest. “Nice work Gust, you'll need to practice this every day till you can hold your defense without even trying, eventually it will come to you like breathing.”
“Easy for you to say it took me forever just to do it let alone hold it.” I said, “Just keep at it, Gust you should be happy right now it took me months to be able to do that.”
Jekyll then said “Go ahead and practice your elements. I'm going to go back to the cave and rest.” I stood back up and began to practice my electricity element. I shot a bolt of lightning out of my hand and it exploded hitting a tree fifty feet away from me.
