* Chapter 9 – Work Ⅲ

The moment the women’s restroom door firmly closed shut the female clerical aides indignantly shriek, “That bit** is crazy!” “It’s because she’s a self-entitled Usonian!” “She won’t really hurt us, will she?” The women all frantically crowd their leader who silences them with a single hand gesture.

Hú Jiao delicately says, “We shouldn’t be wasting our time on her, it’s not as if any of the eligible bachelors are interested in her. They may be interested in dating her, but only to play around. We all know they will never dare bring a Usonian woman to meet their parents.”

The women all nod their heads smugly at their leader’s wise words and chime like parrots together, “You’re absolutely right, Hú Jiao. That slut isn’t worth any of our time!” The women then return to what they were doing as they fix their makeup and continue to gossip, before heading out. But as the women do, they all nervously eye the subtle dent in the bathroom wall. It didn’t pay to annoy violent Usonian women.

However, the delicate office beauty, Hú Jiao wasn’t one take such a face-slapping incident down. One way or another, Hú Jiao would see that bit** destroyed. Hú Jiao confidently trots out of the woman’s restroom with a plan in mind to be set in motion that very evening to be completed during the weekend and to unfold on Monday morning.

After work, Hú Jiao stops at her apartment to take a quick shower and dress up, before heading out to a high-rise hotel. Ordering champagne, Hú Jiao coyishly sits on the bed to wait. Minutes after a nicely dressed older gentlemen lets himself into the room and lets out a groan at seeing, Hú Jiao already on the bed. “Are you trying to make me go mad?” The finely dressed man asked.

Hú Jiao seductively licks her lips and croons, “Gāo Jin, I am just trying to look my best for you.” Hú Jiao climbs to her feet and purposefully bends over at the table to allow the Gāo Jin a glimpse of her perked backside. Gāo Jin’s eyes are glued to her swaying bottom as Hú Jiao pours a glass of champagne for them both.

Hú Jiao returns with a glass in each hand and carefully hands one to Gāo Jin. “To us,” Hú Jiao said as she raises her glass in a proposed toast.

“To us,” Gāo Jin chimed back, before drinking the champagne in a single gulp. While Hú Jiao delicately sips her drink, Gāo Jin wraps himself around her as his hands hungrily roam her body. Gāo Jin nibbles on Hú Jiao’s flawless neck as Hú Jiao unhappily murmurs, “Honey, I am being accosted at work.”

Gāo Jin halts and glances with concern at Hú Jiao. “Who is it? Is it a man!?” Gāo Jin growled in fury.

“It’s not a man, it’s a western woman. She’s the newest accountant at the company and she doesn’t bully me, but all the women on the floor. She thinks that we’re lesser than her because she is a Usonian woman with a degree and we’re merely ordinary Anatolia office workers,” Hú Jiao dejectedly said as her lips tremble with pain.

Support creative writers by reading their stories on Royal Road, not stolen versions.

Gāo Jin’s eyes darken with fury at the injustice! As a proud Anatolia citizen, how could he tolerate or allow a foreigner to bully his woman and people?! “I’ll see to it that’s she’s fired by Monday!” Gāo Jin solemnly promised.

“Thank you!” Hú Jiao happily said as she tilts her head upward to be kissed. The conversation completely ceased afterward as they began to pull at their clothes and everything ended up on the floor as their limbs intertwine on the bed.

On a roof of a building opposite from that room stands Reyn invisible to the naked eye. Reyn narrows her eyes at the disgusting scene before her, but what really filled her with fury was Hú Jiao’s hateful words. As if Reyn was so biased to judge humans by merely the color of their skin! If anything, Reyn was biased towards all humanity simply for the reason of their being humans!

Reyn turns away as she leisurely glides across the city’s rooftops completely unseen and poetically muses to herself, “Now in the past, I’ve tried forgetting and my foes I could forgive; Trouble is I know it’s petty, but I hate to let them live.”

Snickering to herself, Reyn glances down at her watch that reads 11:30 p.m. as she quietly lands on the veranda of her apartment. Letting herself in with a dark smile on her face, Reyn dials Lisa’s phone as it is Friday, 10:30 a.m. back in the States. Despite being at work, Lisa does not hesitate to take an urgent break to answer her best friends call.

Lisa sneaks to the empty employee lounge and says, “Okay, what’s wrong?”

“Nothing really, but I just have a girl who’s trying to get me fired by Monday. Do you have a pen and paper?” Reyn asked.

Lisa hurriedly grabs a sticky note and pen from the office just outside of employee lounge. “Okay, I have one. What do you want me to do?” Lisa knowingly asked.

“Her name is Hú Jiao and Gāo Jin is the man she’s sleeping with. Did you get all of that?” Reyn confirmed.

“Yes,” Lisa muttered back.

“Thanks. Now, Hú Jiao is a clerical aide on the accounting floor, while Gāo Jin is a board member of sorts within the company. Check your inbox, I uploaded the pictures I took of them and I sent their current location to you. On a quick note, can you make this viral?” Reyn pointedly asked.

Lisa snorts and says, “Darling, I can better than that. And don’t worry, Reyn, you’re in safe hands.”

“I know, that’s why I called,” Reyn replied.

“Okay, then I gotta get to work. Talk to you soon,” Lisa happily chimed, before ending the call.

Lisa scurries to her computer and takes a moment to stretch her fingers. An unknown fact to most people was that Lisa Penn was one of the youngest hackers in the world. When Lisa was ten years old, she defrauded a national cooperate bank. Given her age, Lisa was merely put on probation and banned from touching a computer for over five years.

After probation, Lisa got wiser as a hacker. Mostly Lisa lay low, but everyone now and again the spark would come back, and Lisa would have the urge to commit a crime. In this case, Lisa was just ensuring that justice was served and protecting a friend. And that certainly was not a crime, but an act of community service!

And so, with a smile on Lisa’s face and unknown to the rest of the office, Lisa would not be doing spreadsheets at work today. Lisa would be saving the world one person at a time and ruining it for others. Hey, but in her defense, they deserved it!
