After work, Reyn leaves in quite a cheerful mood at noticing she wasn’t being followed. However, soon her smile vanishes as she remembers sensing the altercation between Zhū and Lín He. The old man was much more powerful than she originally thought and though he was no threat to her, she still she hated to leave loose ends as it is always better to nip them in the bud, now, rather than later. And with that in mind, Reyn returns to her apartment to change out of her work clothes.
Meanwhile, at the Blue Fist, Zhū ignores the messages from Yì asking to meet. Annoyed, Zhū swigs down a glass of scotch, before grabbing change for his bill and placing it onto the bar. Nodding to the bartender, Zhū makes his way out of the bar and heads towards his boss’s place. After thinking it over, Zhū decided it would be best to inform his boss.
With his cowl, carefully pulled up, Zhū swiftly makes his way through the city, before suddenly pausing on top of a lone building. Zhū slowly stretches his senses but does not sense any nearby presence but reaches for his knives at seeing a transparent like box appear overhead, surrounding the top of the building, and effectively trapping him inside. Zhū agitatedly glances around, before anxiously leaping back at seeing a figure standing a few feet in front of him. Zhū eyes widen in absolute shock as they recognize the standing figure before him, his target.
Reyn smiles at seeing her stalker retreat hastily back in shock. “I do suppose this is quite the nasty shock for you, isn’t it?” Reyn commented out loud.
Zhū sneers and says, “I knew there was something off about you and that old. Well, why are the two of you here in the city?”
“Oh, we’re not together. We just happened to meet up and become acquaintances of sorts,” Reyn truthfully replied.
Zhū snorts in disbelief and says, “Well, he’s not around to protect you is he now?” Not waiting for a response, Zhū dashes forward as sharp blades flash in the air in a crisscross pattern. To Zhū’s dismay, his blades merely pierce through the empty air before him. Swiftly turning around, Zhū spots his target leisurely standing some feet away with a tranquil smile.
“Well, I guess that should be expected given you are an assassin,” Reyn mused out loud. “But I admit, I am somewhat disappointed, I expected something better out of my stalker.”
Zhū chokes at the brutal statement, but no longer hesitates, concentrating his will into a sharp point, Zhū rushes forward and unleashes, One Thousand Blades of Fury! His blades rush through the air and turn into thousands of tiny needles like blades that pierce through the target and turn his enemy into mincemeat. Once the explosion of energy faded away there was nothing left as it should be.
The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
Zhū slowly releases his breath but does not lose his vigilance as he keeps his blades at his side. Turning at his side, Zhū freezes at seeing the still intact figure of his target. “Impossible,” Zhū said in disbelief.
A look of boredom can clearly be seen in Reyn’s eyes as she glances down at her watch. “Well, let’s get this over with I want to get back and finish watching my show,” Reyn mumbled out loud.
Zhū chokes in fury at being considered less than a measly TV show. Before he can react, suddenly a sharp pain is felt in his chest. Glancing down, Zhu glances down in horror at seeing a transparent hand easily digging through the inside his chest. With horror in his eyes and unable to scream, Zhū sees the pale hand retract with a glowing like golden core in her hand. Unable to scream, Zhū collapses onto the floor in shock at suddenly finding himself a mortal again.
Reyn cheerful pops the human core into her mouth and chews on it as if it were some sort of hard candy. Crunching sounds can be heard as Reyn rather muffled mused out loud, “Hmm, rather dull and tasteless, but at least crunchy.” With a loud gulp, Reyn swallows the remnants of the core and absorbs it within seconds. Reyn sighs in slight disappointment at the tiny amount of energy enclosed therein, but at least it was better than nothing.
Zhū glares hatefully at the figure before him and before he can scream a row of obscenities, Reyn fixes her eyes onto him, effectively causing Zhū to shut his mouth with a snap. Reyn stares at Zhū for a moment, before a tiny fire-fly sized flame appears in her hand. “We can’t have any more misunderstandings, now can we?” Reyn matter-of-factly stated, before tossing the tiny flame onto Zhū.
Zhū snorts in scorn at the comment as he sneers at the tiny flame. As if he would believe such a tiny flame could harm him, it was merely a bluff! But a tiny seed of unease filters through his heart, after all, this woman had not only destroyed his cultivation but eaten his core like candy. With bewildered eyes, Zhū watches the tiny ball of light float up into the air and gently fall towards him.
Zhū snickers for a moment until he feels the sudden heat wave released from the tiny ember. Zhū frantically tries to move away but finds he is unable to. Zhū anxiously opens his mouth to plead for his life, but much too late, the tiny ember touches the tip of his head. Literally bursting into a fiery blaze that consumes everything including the soul as not even a single flake of ash is left behind.
Reyn snaps her fingers and the invisible plane set up by her disappears as city noises can once more be heard. Reyn doesn’t react as she had already sensed the watching presence since from before. Rather than flee, Reyn had chosen to act first, before dealing with the other pest. Reyn calmly turns her head to the side to gaze at the nearby presence on a nearby building roof.
Lín He smiles at Reyn and says, “So, shall we have chat over a pot of tea, girlie?” Reyn studies Lín He for a moment too long causing Lín He’s cheerful smile to fade away. But after that awkward pause, Reyn gestures her hand in agreement and the two instantly vanish from view.
