The scarred man parks his car in front of the new apartment complex. The scarred man quietly makes his way up to the woman’s apartment on the third floor. Carefully checking both ways, the man carefully uses a spare pair of keys to open the door. The door creeps open as the scarred man slowly make his way inside.
A loud meow causes the scarred man to flinch as he finds a black cat with large blue eyes staring at him from across the living room on top of the cat tower. The cat’s ears flatten back as it lets out a loud warning hiss at the first intruder, but quickly shivers as it hides away at the scent of the second intruder.
The scarred man ignores the cat’s warning as he heads into the bedroom and quietly searches the bedroom and bathroom but finds nothing signaling a male living in the apartment. Checking the second bedroom results in same identical finding except that the second bedroom is filled with cat toys and items. The scarred man quietly let’s himself back out and heads down to the apartment manager’s office.
At this hour the manager would be in as the short polite man glances up with surprise at seeing the large, scarred man in a black suit and sunglasses. “Yes, can I help you?” The apartment manager asked.
“I was just wondering if the tenant of #301 has anyone else living with her?” The scarred man asked.
The apartment manager swiftly assumes this must be a registration household civic member says, “No, she is quite the excellent tenant. Miss Mephistopheles is always in on time and promptly disposes of her trash on the correct trash days. Rent is automatically paid every month and the only new change in her residency is that she adopted a cat. But that is acceptable given that small pets are permitted in the apartment complex.”
The scarred man nods his head in reply, before briskly walking out of the apartment. At that time, a second dim shadow belonging to an unknown person can be seen in the light following the scarred man a distance away. With a troubled sigh, the scarred man sends a message to his boss, before departing from the scene.
Sūn Lì hides his frowns at the message that reads, “Apartment is all clear. It would appear to be true for the moment that there is no connection between the two of them.”
Sūn Lì politely excuses himself from the table for a moment as his eyes dark coldly. It would seem that was the case and if so, that meant that bastard was still alive. Out of earshot from anyone, Sūn Lì dials the number of his man.
The scarred man quickly answers, “Yes, sir?”
“I want him found and killed!” Sūn Lì icily uttered the merciless death sentence of Ye Ming.
“It will be done, sir. But are all restraints removed on the operation?” The scarred man asked.

“Yes, you may use all the forces at your disposal to find and eliminate him,” Sūn Lì icily growled. The scared man grunts in reply, before doing as he is told and immediately heading out.
Sūn Lì’s eyes are frigid icebergs as Sūn Lì turns back and returns to the table. Only pausing to compose himself, but even then, there was an icy chill in his eyes upon his return. Sensing there was something wrong Chief Chén swiftly wrapped up the meal and excused himself with the company members.
On the way back one of the company members complains, “Chief Chén, why did we leave so early? I still wanted to taste some of the more rarer wines offered at the Phoenix Restaurant!” The other men murmur in agreement with the shared complaint. After all, it wasn’t every day they got to eat at such a fancy restaurant with the company footing the bill. Why not make the most out of the event?
Chief Chén sternly barks, “Did you not see, Mr. Sūn’s expression upon his return? Mr. Sūn clearly did not want to see us anymore. Besides we would be more the fools to make fools out of ourselves before such a man in such an irritable state.”
The company senior member blinks in surprise and doesn’t reply as he remains stunned at the thought. He wasn’t the only one as the rest of the office members pale at Chief Chén’s words. Some of them even gaze with admiration and respect at Chief Chén for his prompt thinking and action. It was times like that these that left them in awe as they realized why Chief Chén was their superior.
The rest of trip is silent in contemplation as they make their way back to the office. With some relief, Chief Chén makes his way back into the office and only pauses at seeing the russet colored-haired woman typing away at her office. Chief Chén makes his way over to her office doorway and pauses.
“Miss Mephistopheles is there something I should be aware of?” Chief Chén quietly asked.
Reyn pauses from her work and glances up at the question. “If your referring to Mr. Sūn’s question, it came as a surprise to me too. I only told Mr. Sūn the truth and as for anything else, I would prefer to not further involve myself. Surely, Mr. Sūn wouldn’t be asking that question for no reason. I fear there is something worse going on, but I really don’t want to know. Therefore, you won’t be seeing me asking any questions on the subject nor making a further inquire with the police. I know my place, Chief Chén, and I shan’t jeopardize my position for something I’m not even certain I saw or over heard,” Reyn honestly answered back.
Chief Chén nods his head in approval at the wise reply. “Yes, it would be best to leave things just as they are,” Chief Chén replied, before turning away and returning to his work that much more confident that everything would be well.
Reyn hums faintly to herself as she works and recalls the wonderful camera footage taken by Ye Ming’s shadow clone. Should Sūn Lì try anything in the future, Reyn would make sure to make it public. The act of trespassing would never be connected to Sūn Lì, but those that knew him would know. Such an act would surely cause Sūn Lì to lose face in front of all those that knew him. And humans were so stupid to care for such things and knowing Sūn Lì, he would be sure to make a public apology to her remedy the situation. And then-, well, things would become a lot more fun for everyone.
However, despite Reyn’s good mood her smile disappears as she recalls the second intruder. No matter how much Reyn disliked admitting it, she knew far too little of this side of the world. It was becoming rather pertinent that she gained actual knowledge of the cultivator world as Ye Ming’s memories were not very reliable as he was self-taught. And with that in mind, Reyn gets back to work as the wheels of thought begin to churn in her mind.
