Your sword is thrust towards Musashi's chest.
A thrust faster than you've managed to pull off before.
But something feels… off with the movement.
You can't tell what, but your body almost hesitates to thrust as fast as you want, as deep as you want.
It does hit. It hits pretty hard indeed.
But Mushashi takes it with barely a grunt, pushing through the hit and kicking towards you.
You can barely pull the sword into a block, the movement flowing far more naturally then your strange stab.
His foot meets the flat of [Curtana], but that doesn't stop the mountain of force it imparts.
The kick launches you backwards. Far more raw force behind it then you were expecting.
His sword chases you as you get launched off your feet, and you barely twist enough to bring [Curtana] up again.
It snaps into place and meets the greatsword, this time batting you to the side and through a crate.
You back smashes into another, [Babr-e Bayan]'s barriers flaring to reduce the impact to a hard thump that flips you over it.
You pick yourself up after a silent groan. Forcing yourself to your feet as quickly as you can.
But Musashi doesn't chase you. Calming standing there with a look of focus and his sword over his shoulder.
"I believe that's one point in my favor, Demon."
You stare at the man after glancing over yourself, a cut on thigh being the only real evidence of your brief exchange… a piece of debris maybe? Or had his blade sliced into you as you were thrown…
You roll your eyes at him. Settling back into a stance as he brings his blade down.
Holding it with both hands.
"Once more!"
Idly, you wonder why he didn't chase you after that successful launch… but your pride bubbles at the idea…
You can sort of agree, you suppose… giving the opponent in a duel a chance to fight back does make it more fun… and you can probably learn something from the fight this way… or just annoy them further.
A good villain is both annoying and good at teaching.
You switch tactics. Raw offense doesn't seem to be working.
Something… clicks for lack of a better word.
[Curtana]'s humming slightly increases.
And your body flows into a parry that meets his blade as it comes at you from the side.
You shift it up in a spray of sparks.
[Curtana]'s humming picks up even more as the heavy swing becomes easier to shift.
You stumble a bit at the difference, missing your chance for a counterattack as his blade swings back along the same arc but in reverse.
You duck under and to the side of that, stepping back into a defensive stance once more.
[Curtana] seems to favor defense it seems.
Alright, you can play to that.
More sparks fly as you parry and deflect more and more blows.
It's less of a storm of sparks and more akin to heavy blow after heavy blow.
Some fly into the air harmlessly, others into the ground with enough force to create small craters.
But you manage to shift each of them just far enough to where they don't do any more damage to you. [Curtana]'s humming picking up in intensity with each block and parry until it reaches an incredibly sharp piercing noise.
The last blow you block shifts so easily it's as though it was never there.
And as it move, Musashi stumbles himself, probably not expecting you to parry it with such ease.
You'd be surprised if you weren't so absolutely focused on this one moment.
You surge forwards.
Your blade shrieks.
And you swing the blade towards his…
