Yep, there it was. The fearsome dragon which harbored the ancient sword Gram was a girl probably sixteen or seventeen at the most. While the two stood there dumbfounded the dragon pointed at them very threateningly. Well, it would have been if they could take her seriously.
“Y-you’re trespassing!”
“Trespassing?! In a cave?!”
“C’mon Feffy this ain’t the dragon. It can’t be! She’s so small! Gahaha!”
At this, the girl puffed her cheeks and walked right up to the laughing Seph, giving him a searing flick on the forehead.
“Gah! Yo, that’s some powerful flick you got there girly!”
“I’m a dragon!”
“Well, you do look like a little girl.”
“I didn’t ask you!”
Fefnir shrugged, putting his sword back into the scabbard. She wasn’t seeming to threaten them, so for the moment there was nothing to be worried about. Sadly, Seph wasn’t going to keep his mouth shut.
“A little girl! Seriously! Where’s the dragon!”
Stamping her foot she replied.
“I am the dragon!”
“So you got Gram?”
“Yes! It’s in my personal space you stupid exorcist.”
At this, Fefnir turned around.
“Wait, how do you know we’re exorcists.”
“The armor? The magic swords? You coming here? It’s obvious isn’t it? You’ve come here to fight me for Gram.”
“Wait a minute you saw us in town and heard us talking didn’t you…”
“W-w-wha-!”
Seph began another fit of laughter and Fefnir sat down on a rock. They couldn’t very well murder a little girl, no matter how much they wanted the sword. The only way to open up her person space would be if she died through… and it didn’t seem as if she would just hand the sword over to them. He motioned to Seph and he walked over, wiping his tears.
“Oh man this is just too hilarious innit!”
“Yes, absolutely. Sadly, this might actually make things harder.”
“Harder? Why?”
“She won’t just give us the sword and I don’t really see her fighting anyone any time soon. So how do we get the sword?”
“We can’t just kill her?”
“You’d kill a little girl?!”
“Wait she’s not a dragon?”
“Look at her! She is no dragon.”
Seph looked back at her, shrugging.
“Yeah but she still has Gram.”
If you come across this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
Fefnir put his hands to his temples. Evidently this was taking more brainpower than Seph had. Seph himself just stared at the girl. It was strange, how the hell did she have the sword? Did nobody else even attempt to kill her for it? She looked like she could get killed in one hit.
“What are you guys talking about over there!”
“Nothin girly!”
“I’m not girly! I’m Letta.”
“Letta? What kinda name is that?”
Taunting her further, the little girl ran up to him and lightly pounded on his arm. She was evidently actually angry, so if this was her power how the hell did she have the sword? Seph raised a good point, therefore Fefnir acted upon it.
“Are you powerful?”
“Of course I am! I can breath fire, and fly, and chomp intruders up with my fangs!”
“Can you show us that?”
As soon as Fefnir said this however, the girl shied away.
“I’d rather not…”
“Why?”
Looking around, she gave her answer softly.
“You’ll…. Kill me if I do, right?”
Seph, obviously, wasn’t going to keep his mouth shut on this one.
“Yeah we’re gonna kill ya! Just turn into a dragon already!”
“I can’t transform! Not at the moment. I’m stuck like this.”
Hearing this, both of their jaws dropped.
“Wait, yer serious?”
“I am.”
“How did you get stuck like this?”
“I failed at making a potion… pretty badly…”
Fefnir sighed again.
“We’re done here aren’t we.”
“Huh?! But we don’t have Gram!”
“You can’t intrude upon a private space as long as someone is alive and I’m not killing a little girl. There you go.”
“W-what?! Well then we have to kidnap her!”
“Kidnap me?!”
At this, Fefnir scratched his chin.
“Not a bad idea, we could bring her back to Clavicus and see if there’s any way to undo the potions effects.”
“Whoah wait a second!”
“Hm?”
“You can’t be serious, kidnap me?!”
“Too late, ahem, girly.”
Before the dragon could even respond, Seph threw a large sack around the girl and tied the knot, slinging it over his shoulder.
“Man this has gotta be the lightest dragon I’ve ever carried.”
“You’ve never carried a dragon.”
“Yeah I did! Back in Glauchen! I almost killed that sucker too!”
Seph, not hearing any struggling, rapped on the bag with his knuckles, looking for a response.
“Comfortable?”
“...”
Fefnir saw no movement either, and started to get slightly scared.
“Dammit you knocked her out you idiot!”
Seph didn’t really care however, and was looking through her belongings, taking anything that looked slightly valuable.
“Seph you really are scum you know that!”
“No dear Feffy, I’m poor scum. This dragon is rich scum. Poor scum feeds off rich scum, you know that.”
“You aren’t poor scum you’re pond scum..”
Though he said that Fefnir started to look through the belongings as well, in traditional LeVay fashion. Pillage and steal, two of the standing pillars of LeVay intuitiveness. As they looked through silver cups and gold forks and knives Seph heard something from the opening of the cave once again.
“Who is it?”
He said it in almost a homely manner, but the only reply was a shrewd snarling.
“Hold on. Seph, draw your sword. It looks like we’re fighting after all.”
“Huh? Oh shit, wyverns?”
“Looks like it. They always like to attack dragon’s caves. We had best get rid of them for our host.”
Seph chuckled and drew Joyeuse from it’s scabbard.
“I’m really glad that we actually got to put some fightin in today. When I realized we weren’t gonna get to fight a dragon I was kinda disappointed!”
“Speak for yourself…”
Fefnir and Seph ran towards the beasts, swords raised, and their blades met hard scales. Wyverns were no joke, usually traveling in packs. They would have to try and avoid alerting the rest of their entourage. Fighting so many wouldn’t be possible, even with their powerful weapons. One of the wyverns struck at Seph, who deftly dodged it and cut the beast's head off before it could retract it’s neck. They didn’t seem to want to attack head on after that and kept in a group together, forming a practical wall of claws and teeth. Seph wasn’t sure how they were going to get past them if they stayed like that… not to mention the unconscious dragon in the sack over there...
