Chapter 6: The Hangout

Chapter 6: The Hangout

Alice wakes up from her sleep to check her phone's calendar and realizes that she has to go to school again after December's month's break.

"Ugh, school is the worst!" She mumbled to herself as she reluctantly got up and got ready.

She took a shower, dried her hair, and wore her school uniform. She heads down the stairs and greets her grandfather at the table as he listens to the morning radio.

"Morning Grandpa." She said while yawning.

"Good morning darling, I made breakfast for you." Her grandpa told her.

She went to sit down with her grandpa and began eating whilst drowsy.

"You seem tired Alice, did you get enough sleep last night?" He asked her about her wellbeing.

"I thought I did, I guess I need to get used to sleeping a bit earlier since school is starting again." She said while rubbing her eyes.

"I see, so you're finally going into 11th grade this year right?" He asked.

Alice nodded as she chewed on her strawberry jam sandwich.

"I see, I remember back then when you used to be so small when you first started middle school. You haven't grown since" He said while wiping his tears.

Her grandpa's comment struck a nerve in Alice and she gave her grandpa a death glare.

"S-scary..." Her grandpa muttered.

After she finished breakfast, Alice waved goodbye to her grandpa and left the house. She began walking to school and encountered a stray cat along the way. Her school isn't far from her home so she walked there every day since she entered high school. Alice soon arrived at her school and went to her new classroom where she met up with her friends.

"Allie, Allie over here!" A girl calls Alice by her nickname.

Alice began walking over towards her friend. Two other girls crept up on her and hugged her as she got there.

"Alice it's been so long!" One of the girls said while hugging her tightly.

"Raani it's only been a month, you're so clingy at times." Alice said while enduring her hug.

"You don't miss us?" The other girl said, beginning to feel a bit down.

"Of course I do Airi, it's just that I've been busy with stuff that's all." She told them trying to get out of their hug.

Her friend from earlier felt a bit left out and went over to join in the fun.

"AINI NOT YOU TOO!" Alice screams while being drowned by her friends.

Alice scolded them after the hug and sat down at her desk which was reserved for her by her friends. During recess, the gang brought their tables together and ate lunch together.

"So how did your vacation go guys? I recently climbed Mount Akinabalu!" Raani said and showed them a picture of her climbing the mountain.

"Must be tough right? But you are quite the athlete so I guess it was good for you." Airi said to Raani.

"Yup, it was a hard hike, but the hikers there were pretty helpful, how about you three?" Raani asked them.

"I went to the Peninsular with my parents to visit my grandfather. The village air felt so fresh there!" Aini told them.

"Your hometown is in Setar, right? must be great to live there" Airi said while she envisioned herself running in the soft breeze in the paddy fields of Keldah.

"How about you Airi?" Aini asked curiously.

"I went to Port Island and visited many heritage sites there. I also saw some crabs and I messed around with them." Airi told them with a mischievous grin.

Alice ponders as she doesn't have anything interesting when compared to them. Alice tries to stay quiet, but her friends stare at her while waiting for her to speak.

"What?" Alice asked and looked at them confused.

"What about your vacation Alice, didn't you recently sign in with a professional racing team?" She asked.

"Yeah, it's just a local team here so it's nothing special really." Alice told them while sipping a box of apple juice.

The gang seemed a bit displeased with her response but reluctantly accepted it.

"Alice you've always been busy with racing ever since you were young, you never really hung out with us." Airi told Alice.

"Well my dad used to push me to get into Formula A but things changed after he passed away." Alice responds casually.

"S-sorry for bringing it up Alice." Airi said feeling regretful about asking her that.

"Nah it's okay, sorry I didn't hang out with all of you as much." She said while regretting taking their friendship for granted.

They began eating their lunch until Aini suddenly had an idea.

"Hey, how about we go shopping after school" Airi told them.

"I'm not busy after school so I guess I can join you guys, I also want to see that new badminton racket for a while now." Raani said and agreed to join her.

"Sure, I also want to buy some new clothes as well!" Aini agrees to join them.

The gang looks towards Alice who is just drinking her juice box.

"W-well I don't have any training today so I guess it's fine." She answered reluctantly.

"Alright, it's settled!" Airi said and punched her first into the air.

After school, the girls took a train to a local mall and explored the mall. After that, they entered the clothing store, Aini being a fashion queen tried out many clothes and outfits while assisting the others including Alice who she dreamt of dressing her up.

"Aini I know you like to dress up but isn't this many clothes a bit excessive?" Alice contemplated while being handed many clothes by Aini.

"Don't worry about that, just try them on and we'll be the judge." Aini's eyes sparkled as she said that and forced her inside the wardrobe.

Alice reluctantly changes her clothes and walks out. She's wearing a white cotton shirt with short blue jeans that make her look modern.

"So modern." Airi gives a 9/10

"Fashionable." Raani gives 9/10

"She looks like those rich people in magazines." Aini gave a 10/10.

"These clothes show too much skin, to be honest." Alice said giving her opinion.

Alice soon went back and changed into another outfit. Alice got confused about a clothing part and pulled Aini in for assistance. Alice got out with Aini and she's wearing an orange hijab with flower patterns and a belt around her waist.

"She looks so modest" Raani gave her a 9/10

"She looks so small!" Airi jumps from her cuteness 9/10.

"You look just like me but smaller!" Aini hugged her and gave her a 10/10.

"This covers up too much!" Alice told them while being head rubbed by Aini.

Alice changed again and again until she finally changed for the final time. She walks out in a long white dress with a sun hat.

"C-cute!" they all blurted.

"Alright That's it I'm done!" She walks back into the wardrobe and changes into her normal attire.

Aini paid for her dresses and the gang walked out of the store. They went to the sports store and messed around there, while they were messing around, Alice noticed Sugimoto sitting down and trying on new shoes.

"Senpai is here too huh? Maybe it's time to get him back for scaring me that one time." Alice cheekily muttered to herself.

Alice slowly creeps behind and raises her hands about to give him a scare. Then suddenly she heard someone calling her name.

"Allie Allie, where did you go?" Aini calls Alice.

Aini saw Alice putting her hands right above Sugimoto from a distance. Alice panicked and accidentally slips and hugs Sugimoto from his back to break her fall. Aini looked at her and suddenly a burst of blood came from her nose and she fell backward.

"K-kid? What are you doing?" Sugimoto looks at the mirror where he sees Alice frozen solid.

Raani and Airi ran over towards Aini who was passed out on the floor in a pool of blood.

"Aini what the heck happened to you?" Raani and Airi looked over at Aini.

Aini weakly points at them while Alice is still frozen solid. Raani and Airi saw this and instantly a burst of blood came from their nose and they passed out on the floor.

"K-kid! Hurry up and let go of me, we need to help those girls!" Sugimoto told her.

"K-kill me..." Alice faintly muttered knowing that her future was going to be full of teasing.

Sugimoto and Alice called the girl's parents to pick them up and apologized to their parents for the inconvenience. They understood and came over to pick them up and they all went home. After returning home, Alice hid under her blankets and heard hundreds of notifications blasting through her phone nonstop.
