Chapter 06: The Celestial Envoy

Two days had passed since Bill was detained. He had been taken to a holding cell underneath the Village Leader's house.

Thomas had suffered some serious injuries, according to what he heard, but he was going to recover in a few weeks.

Zephyr had hoped he suffered some more. If it wasn't for him, Bill would not be in so much trouble.

Today, the village would be receiving an envoy from the elven capital of Thalindor, who had come to take Bill away.

“There he is!” Someone pointed into the distance.

The villagers started to murmur and had to be shushed by the Village Leader.

They were all standing at the sides of the road, right next to the entrance to the village.

It was customary to welcome any envoys from any of the four Celestial races in such a way.

Not that they got many.

Everyone was present.

Everyone except Thomas, who could not leave his bed, Bill who could not leave his cell, and the old fisherman who had always been kind to him… because he passed away last night.

He wanted to be sadder about that fact, but he knew it was coming since the day of the temple.

The old fisherman had already lived past the average human life expectancy.

Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.

He was already fifty-seven years old, and no one really expected to live even that long.

Zephyr poked his head from behind a large man, hoping to catch a glimpse of the envoy.

“Ah!” There he was. He could see him walking through the middle of the road.

'Wait, he came by foot?... No way. There is a week of walking to the nearest town, and he came from the elven capital, which is on another continent.'

He could only reach the conclusion that the envoy must have used some special means of transportation, which left him very close to the village, and then decided to walk for a bit.

Zephyr had heard stories about Celestials riding flying carriages powered by their magic.

Considering everything they can accomplish with their powers, he was willing to believe that tale but would like to see one of those flying vehicles one day.

His eyes focused on the envoy now. He knew it was bad to stare too much but could not help himself. This being was like nothing he had seen before, except maybe in his dreams.

He was a tall Elf with their usual long blonde hair and green eyes, but unlike the ones he had seen prior to this, the envoy was extremely muscular and wore armor made of leather and some metal that resembled silver.

He carried a longbow on his back and a short sword attached to his belt.

In his dreams, he has seen a lot of incredible weapons and could tell the ones wielded by this Elf were not simple ones.

This was not a scholar or a priest… this was an Elven warrior of a very high caliber.

Zephyr could feel the hair on his arms standing up. This Celestial emanated an aura of danger like nothing he felt before.

And he had not arrived alone at their village yet.

Behind him were two more individuals.

On his left was a Dwarf. The second one that Zephyr had seen in his lifetime.

But this was no craftsman. Like the Elf, this Dwarf looked like a seasoned warrior.

He wore plated armor and carried a massive axe on his back, one almost as big as the dwarf himself.

On the other side was a huge Celestial Beastman, almost three meters tall. He only wore simple leather armor, exposing his arms and feet completely. Despite the dark thick fur on his body, one could clearly discern his bulging muscles.

His orange eyes scanned the crowd of humans, searching for any threat among them.

Zephyr could not see any weapon on the Beastman, but considering how long and sharp his claws looked, he probably didn't need one.

Any of these three individuals would surely be enough to annihilate their entire village by themselves and with little effort.

‘Why would they send such powerful beings just to pick up Bill? Do they think he is that dangerous, or… is there another reason for it?’ He could not guess the motives of the Celestial beings.

“Welcome to Varian Village, oh great Celestial Envoy.” The Village Leader bowed to him, bending his back ninety degrees.

The rest of the village kneeled down and kept their faces looking at the ground.

The envoy made a displeased expression.

“Show me the awakened boy, and hurry! I want to get this matter over with.”

The Village Leader was surprised by his aggressive attitude but made no comment on it.

“Of course… allow me to guide you. The boy is well-secured in a holding cell, specially designed to contain any awakened human.” The leader bowed again.

“Haha! Don't take offense, human… He is in a bad mood because he hates the smell of fish,” the dwarf said in a jovial tone.

Of course, no one dared to laugh at the Envoy or even smile at the jest from the dwarf. It was clear to them who was in charge.

“Shut your mouth!” The envoy grumbled, showing his displeasure. “Let's go already!”

The Celestial Beastman walked last. His eyes moved around constantly, making everyone nervous. It made them feel like they were being stared at by the most dangerous predator...ready to pounce at them at any moment.

The Village Leader entered the village, followed by the three Celestial Beings.

Since they were not given permission to leave, the entire village had to stay at the entrance, waiting for them to return and finish their business first.
