Chapter 10: Earths Fame

Chapter 10: Earths Fame

Earth paraded through the gates into the capital, which caught the attention of many people nearby and afar. Thanks to the armor he wore he was the center of attention where ever he went. He had went roaming around the entire capital, including the thug infested slums which he had unknowing beaten up known criminals that tried rob him with superior numbers.

He took his time examining everything, such as armor, people, and buildings.

During his small adventures Earth was approached by a number of women trying to flirt with him, and a number of men that picked a fight with him. He had either just ignored or dealt with most of them as he continue on his exploring.

While Earth was on his little adventure Zadia who was being controlled, wasn't enjoying the fact that Earth was leisurely strolling around in her body and was criticizing him.

[Earth! I thought we needed to warn the capital of the impending attack!! What are you doing!?]

Earth approaches an impressive building with several windows outside, inside were book shelves that seem to number in the hundreds. The impressive building was a library that had a well-designed exterior and interior. It had piqued Earths interest, and he became curious on what the humans had written.

“Oh, that… There wasn’t really any need to warn them. Remember? They have the best rangers which means, a bunch of dragons flying through the air. Would be pretty much be impossible for them not to spot. I thought you were just humoring me, believing in such a blatant lie. How would this country survive if it could not see such a large number of dragons passing their borders? Especially when the dragons aren’t even trying to be covert.” Earth uncaring answers back as he enters the library. Passing by the awoken librarian, who didn’t seem to care enough to bother them, he just gave them a glance then returned to sleeping.

[So… what was the point of the getting the ring?] Zadia becoming annoyed, having been tricked so easily

“Isn’t it oblivious? To spend time with my favorite partner!” Earth mentions as he heads to one of the wooden shelves located in the far back. The center of the library had 30 aisles, with books to the far right and far left. There was also a second floor and a back wall filled with books. What connected the second floor with the first floor was a single ladder against the wall.

[Is that the real reason? Forget it. I have a feeling your just going to avoid it.] Zadia concluded in frustration.

Earth was enjoying himself, as he was immersed in reading the books that he found in the library. He had been ignoring all of Zadias’ complaints, while he had been reading. So Zadia had given up on making him respond to her, instead Zadia had started to noticed that Earth seemed to be waiting for something.

“Hmm… it’s almost time.” Earth casually informs Zadia

[Almost time for what?]

While Earth was reading, a group of three men in chainmail had entered the library. They looked around seemingly searching for someone, until they laid their eyes on Earth. They started heading towards Earth with quick steps, it seemed like they were in a hurry. Zadia noticed these men wore the armor of the full-fledged members of the Order of the White Knights.

The one who led the group, was a man with black hair and brown eyes. He had a regular build and was shorter than Zadias current form, which Earth was controlling.

“You are the one named Earth? Correct?” The man announced as he approached, Earth closes his book and turns to face him. His presence intimidated the three as he faced them.

“I am. How can I help you?” Earth responds while he turns to place the book back on the shelf. The knights glanced at one another, before the man in front speaks up.

“I've been sent here personally, by the request of the king to recruit you in aid to our great kingdom.” The man says proudly

“I’m not interested in being recruited, but I’ll at least hear what he has to say.” Earth stated, redirecting himself, he headed towards the door leading out of the library. The men were a bit shocked to see him react so calmly. They followed him out in confusion, while Earth stood in front of the library. A crowd had gather outside, they had gathered in curiosity to see why the White Knights had entered the library.

Some of them knew the reason and cheered when Earth had appeared. Apparently rumors of a hero in red armor saving a village nearby had begun to spread. Also among those rumors were ones about him bravely patrolling around the slums, knocking out criminals that were later imprison by the city guard.

Zadia was shocked on how Earth rose to fame quickly within the capital. She was a bit annoyed by the fact.

“Umm… We will take you to the king then. Allow us to lead the way.” The men had suggested as they took Earth to a small carriage, with two strong horses pulling on it. Earth got in with the leader of the men as the other two sat out in front.

The carriage had started moving as people got out of its way. The ride was bumpy at first, but it soon smoothed over.  The knight that sat across of Earth, stared at Earth with curiosity. Eyeing his armor, he was impressed by it and seemed to have showed him sighs of respect.

“It most have taken a lot of hard work.” The knight said in admiration.

“No, not at all.” Earth responded casually as he turned his head staring outwards. Looking at the surroundings they were passing by.

An hour had passed and they had arrived at a large wooden gate leading to an enormous building. That towered over the capital. This building had its’ own walls within the walls of the capital.

The Guards standing guard on the top of the walls sent a signal to open the gate. After a few more moments the gate started to open slowly.

“Here we are.” The knight breaks the silence as the carriage approaches the main doors of the building, In front of it were 10 knights standing in rolls of five facing each other. The knight gets out of the carriage, Earth follows closely behind.

They walked into a huge building with walls that had delicate designs and expensive artistry. The floor they walked on was a smooth red rug, with designs knitted in them.

While admiring the scenery the knight took them deeper in, to two wooden doors decorated in gold. The two guards standing by the door opens it as the knight steps inside. Earth followed him in, seeing a spacious place with four chairs directly across the doors.

The two chairs in middle were biggest, seated there was a man and women with grey hair, who were the king and queen. Next to the two of them on the right was a beautiful young girl around the age of sixteen and on the left was a boy who was younger at the age of thirteen.

All around the sides were nobles wearing their fanciest garments, it seemed that this was a special occasion. They all had started to whisper, many of them were already impressed by the armor and its design. It was really one in a kind with its unique appearance.

Zadia was amazed by how grand the throne room was. She let out thoughts of excitement which were all heard by Earth.

As they approached the knight bowed to the king and took his leave, stepping aside. Earth was now standing before the king and had all eyes on him, Zadia felt uncomfortable making her glad she wasn’t alone. The king eyed Earth, letting out a smile.

“So you are the hero that defeated the undead laying waste to one of our villages, and the one that has helped captured several criminals that evaded the city guards for months.” The king showing his admiration as he spoke.

“I am.” Earth said uninterested while he observed the room, he noticed the daughter was staring at him intensely. The nobles showing envy, and the son seemingly annoyed by Earths presence.

“So what if he is?” The kings’ son sitting next to him rudely interrupted. The king glared at him, which made him go quiet. The kings’ daughter on the other hand seemed ashamed to be related to the boy. Earths observation skills were mostly if not always spot on.

“Please excuse him. Anyways, onto important matters. What I’m about to say may come as a shock to you, but our kingdom is about to be invaded by an army of dragons.” The king declared sternly. Earth had thought about acting surprised but didn't want to put any effort in it. So he just stood there unfazed.

“Ok.” Earth said calmly he didn't bothered to read the mood and answered uncaringly. This had shocked the king and the other nobles, they started to misunderstand and admired him more. Thinking that this was the courage of a true hero. Earth on the other hand just wanted to speed things up as fast as possible.

“Hahah! Your courage is outstanding! Here I am being shaken by the mention of a dragon, but you aren't even fazed by an invasion of them! Hahah!’ The kings’ laugh filled the room, Earth was getting extremely bored of the conversation. Still he needed them to help Zadia kill the dragon hero.

Since after the 24 hours is up, he can only give her advice through her dreams. Zadia will only be able to change into her armor form then on, since she hasn’t yet reach her potential of 150. Earth finally spoke out, offering a plan of action.

“The dragons are being led, if we go while they are still building their army. We can kill their leader and the rest will leave, they only follow the strong.” Earth proposed, the king thought about it and called out a ranger who seemed to have appeared out of nowhere, but in fact Earth had notice all of them that were hidden in the room. He was the only one to have noticed them, all 20 of them. They were Rowiens Devil Rangers, Earth could tell they were quite skilled but were no match for him of course.

The ranger the king had called gave his opinion on Earths proposal. He seemed to agree with Earths plan. The reason why the king has the rangers give their opinion on matters of war, was because they were masters of gathering information.

The ranger had told the king the habits of the dragons, how many there were, and how many there were going to be. Also how many more would arrive next week and the week after. He suggested they leave as soon as possible with tomorrow being the soonest. Since they could easily kill one dragon compared to an army. The ranger had assured the king, that the dragons would leave after their leader was slain. Dragons have a lot of pride which means that they wouldn’t follow anyone weaker than them. So fights would break out after their leader is killed.

The king hearing all this came to a conclusion.

“Bring me the kingdoms best! We are sending to them to end this war before it starts!” The king declared. Whispers emerged once again, they all started talking about strong warriors inside their capital. Juliannes’ name appeared in dozens of conversations.

[Earth! They are going to send Julianne! She could die!] Zadia tries to get his attention in panic.

“Well, than protect her.” Earth responded

[H-how?]

“Easy, get stronger.” Earth responds in his usual calm tone.
