[17:42] [23/12/1276] [The Oak’s House, Pallet Town, Kanto]
Bruno was currently in his bedroom, he was sitting in the chair at the front of his desk while having countless books making mountains in his front and sides.
It was currently a little over his second month in the pokemon world, he has studied a lot of books he got from gramps and tried absorbing more he could ever think about this pokemon world, which was a difficult task since there was too many things going on in this place.
Bruno sighed while saying, “This world is too grand, the animations never truly showed everything that could be seen in here.” He then picked up his anotations and started reciting the most important factors to himself.
The league had been installed in this wold for hundreds of years, there has also been countless ruins that indicated human cities from even before the first registers of the league, like Hisui ruins found in sinnoh and some tribes that lived in the alola regions.
Humanity in the pokemon world actually only stabilished itself in 4% of the world’s surface, there’s also the need to point that the sea is not in this calculation.
There was also the way the league came to be in here, at first, the gym leaders, elite four and the champion were figure heads that only moved in times of crisis, basically on wars and huge pokemon tides trying to take over human cities, towns and villages.
These rulers existed in all regions in different numbers, they kept accumulating resources and initiated trades with each other, modulating good relationships over time and also instauring the Major Pokemon League, where all champions, professors and major families went to yearly so they could discuss matters between them. Bruno doesn’t have the knowledge of what they talk about since Oak never really told him because he was ‘too young for this’, according to gramps.
After this big group up of the regions, they made the first trainer tournament where the young civilians could train themselves up and try to challenge them while not needing to be from some important family to get a pokeball. They started building trainer schools, the joy family started acting as free healers for the populace, the jenny family became the world police, others made pokeballs and other items more acessible and the Pokemon League Circuit started taking shape in every region.
The rulers of each area became the Gym leaders, the main council became the elite four and the head of the region became the champion. The circuit started happening with everyone trying to gather eight badges so they could compete in the regional tournament, that way they can gain a chance challenge the elite four and the champion if they win it, the time limit to such a challenge is apparently 3 years for you to prepare yourself and start the gauntlet battles.
If you don’t beat the first elite 4, you are disqualified of attempting again for two years, the tournament you’ll have to participate next to try the gauntlet against the elite four again will also be made of only winners of the regional tournament, being one of the few different forms to battle against the elite four and champion in the year if you’re not a beginner trainer.
From being able of beating all the trainers of elite four and the champion, the winner is qualified for the World Tournament, which only happens one time every ten years, the biggest and mostly incredible place to demonstrate your talents in being the best trainer of the decade.
In such tournaments you can only use 6 pokemon in the battles, but the carry limit in your travels is a different story. Bruno then remembered he had a specific note for this, which he found it after searching in the middle of his books.
- When you are an 8 or under badge trainer, you can carry 6 pokemon with you.
- If you reach 3 years of actively travelling and battling against gyms while not getting more than 8 bages in a year, you become a Veteran Trainer and can carry 8 pokemon with you.
- When you reach the top 8 in any regional tournament, the carry limit also becomes 8.
- If you win a region tournament, you become an Ace Trainer and are able to carry 10 pokemons with you.
- If you beat at least one elite 4, you become an Elite Trainer and are able to carry 18 pokemon with you, every sequential elite four you beat, more 4 slots are added to that number, with 30 being the limit.
- From beating a champion of a region, you become a Champion Trainer and get an unlimited cap for to the pokemon you can carry.
- The rangers, police, joy family, professors, licensed breeders, gym leaders, every elite four and the champion also don’t have a carry limit to them.
This was a rule installed that he was a little confused about but he kinda understood it, a newbie trainer that had money for as much food as he could walking around with more than twenty pokemon would be something pretty dangerous to see.
Along with this trainer carry limit, there was also what people called the ‘Field Support Slot’, which was three extra pokemon you could carry if you were a sponsored trainer. These three pokemon had to be registered in the pokemon center and were not able to participate in tournaments, they can only aid in your self defence in the wilds, participate in personal battles and their most important function was to be your locomotion and main helpers along the wilderness. Trainers that had this carry limit mostly picked up a flyer, a surfer and a runner pokemon to help them, but people also liked tunnel travellers, mountain climbers and darkness explorers a lot, it mostly depended on what type of trainer you are and what your main pokemon could already do.

This whole circuit and the league was a way to make stronger trainers for the defense of the region, the moment you registered yourself as a trainer, you become a type of military troop for your starting region. Trainers can travel almost freely between regions and expand their team, but if some problem happens in their first region and they are called back, it was a law that forced you to either accept the call or to not enter any side of the conflict. Being a traitor, thief or terrorist is not well seen by any regions for obvious regions and being caught can get you a dose of alakazam mind reading to check why you made that choice, something that Bruno is trying to stay far away from.
The wilds seen in all regions were a place that could be described as peaceful and extremely dangerous at the same time, pokemon usually didn’t meddle with humans, they only went after you because they were either hungry, you invaded their territory or because they have some grievance with you. Even a ratatta can be troublesome if you’re not prepared for it, that’s why the starting age for trainers is at 16 years old, they’re more bulky, have more time to study what to do in the wilds and also can think before doing stupid actions, they still do stupid things though, people at this age just know exactly when they did something stupid and can better try to correct their flaws and their actions, there is bad people everywhere so you also need a degree of maturity to not fall as prey to some schemes happening in the background.
Pokemon is the grand sport in this world, magical beasts are that amazing after all. From trainers to coordinators, pokemon movie actors, breeders, stylists, cooks, explorers, cleaners, fisherman, rangers and much more, every job in this world had some interation with pokemon.
In this world, every pokemon can also learn moves that seem to follow the same pattern in Bruno’s world when raised in nature, trainers can change it up and focus on specific moves they want their pokemon to have.
Abilities are also able to be trained, all pokemon can have all of their abilities if they don’t interfere with one another.
There’s also something that Bruno was scared about, which was talents from each pokemon. But he made some searches and discovered that it doesn’t truly exist. All pokemon have a chance of reaching the peak of their species, what will change is the grade of how their experiences and bloodline will aid them. Bruno thought a lot about this and the closest he could arrive to it’s definition was marking it as the titles.
Titles can be gained upon the start of a being’s life depending on who are your parents, they are also something that you might gain after doing a grand action and maybe receiving some type of baptism of the world? He would have to see someone gaining a title to be sure about his guesses.
But Bruno felt that his guess was probably right, the more titles you have, the faster you will advance and they also help you with boosts, like Thorn and Ember’s ones.
The strength level of pokemon was a strange topic he delved in at the beginning, the system commonly used was the 1 to 8 badge level, which indicated which gym level you could beat with your pokemon. After this, it changed to the Ace and Elite levels, those were dependent on how your pokemon fought in the regional tournament and elite four gauntlet, next was the Regional Champion level in being able to beat a champion’s pokemon.
The next level is the World Champion level, which indicated you being able to participate alongside other champions and emerging victorious between battles. It was at this point that it stopped being simple, a pokemon could then become a Master from the growing of it’s power at a level where it could easily create it’s own type energy, exclusive to itself and also giving a boost when being used in tandem with normal type energy. The final objective was marked as the Legend level, where you could stand in front of a mythical or legendary pokemon and battle with it on equal grounds.
Legendary and mythical pokemon were also a thing, they existed and were way more overpowered than what Bruno knew from the games. There was also packs of the legendary beings in the wilds not fully explored, his search for information varied wildly depending on what type of legendary he searched though. The trio of dogs and birds, victini, celebi, mew and many others existed in quite the great number, there was some different legendaries like ho-oh, lugia and rayquaza who mostly stayed alone in their territories and had fewer individuals.
Arceus was seen as a god and no one has met it before from the documents he has read, the only visage of the legendary where certain visions some people had and ancient murals in ruins around the world, the trio of creation were also singular individuals but they were seen before.
Such beings were marked as the top strength of this world when reaching their peak, few trainers were able to go against them, Bruno had some greater knowledge in these topics since Oak had captured a freaking mew some years ago, it helped him a lot on the studies of legendaries, which was the biggest active research being done in the lab. The little pink blob was really mischievous and loved to play praks with everyone, Bruno also saw it beating up an ace trainer’s dragonite in the ranch like it was dealing with a kid.
To grow to such strengths, diligent training and a good diet were the most important aspects he found on Oak’s notes. Relaxing is also marked as being an important part, but Bruno knew he had to focus completely on the growth of their base at the start, he already started studying nutrition and became more and more skilled in making such nutritious foods for them.
He had recently even gained some skills related to these topics, so he should be in the right path. The training part was something he found pretty easy to follow and train them in, it was modulated by type energy manipulation, physical strenghtening, mental strenghtening, skill mastery, ability mastery and thei focus while doing those, when all of these topics advanced in a pokemon, it’s strength would keep rising through the roof if proper food and relaxing times are provided.
The ranking of skills from the pokemon was a pretty direct gauge of their strength, specially in the wilds since the pokemon living there don’t have much time for training. The levels of skill he could see as of now was common, uncommon and rare, which common was the base of the skill where a pokemon could only use it while being in the ground, uncommon allowed movement while performing it and the attack or support skill became stronger, rare was when the first peak of the skill was reached, meaning it was at an even greater power and could be used alongside other skills.
The information of higher ranked skills was closed off for Bruno, but he saw in some notes in his gramps books that to go above this mark, the pokemon needed to add something about itself in the skill, to change it’s function to better aid itself.
Natures were also a pretty underdeveloped research in this world, there has been no association made about the flavors pokemon like to eat linked to their personalities and specific growth tied to them, Bruno has been writing some papers relationed to this while also showing them to Oak who looked impressed at them and also said he was going to forward them to some of his friends while having Bruno’s name marked as the leading researcher of this field.
Bruno then closed his book and put it over his table, he rapidly went out of his room and started making dinner downstairs, he was going for a quick sandwich for himself and the same for his pokemon, he was starting to get hungry and was feeling groggy from reading too much.
He quickly looked outside and saw both of his pokemon training together, he smiled and shouted, “Thorn and Ember, stop training and get inside for dinner!” Receiving an enthusiastic ‘Char!’ and ‘Ferro!’ response from both of his pokemon, they rapidly stormed into the house and sat on the chairs in front of the table while waiting for their food.
