Chapter 28: Journey

Chapter 27: Journey

Reina and Lucian walked through the small garden located on the east wing of the tyrant team base. They already packed up and just needed to wait for orders before his sister sent them to a place close to the marsh.

Leylah was usually quiet and easy going since they joined the team and she also shared the desire to beat Aaron up when they had the chance and were strong enough. According to Xander and Aaron, Leylah was the best in leading a newcomer to the marsh due to her high affinity to divination related abilities.

“We already trained so hard for this moment, I really can’t wait for it. What about you? Reina who couldn’t hold back her excitement asked.

Lucian smiled looking at the early morning glow the floweres were emitting. “If we did not take the time to visit George yesterday, I might have thought you are eager for death. Do you think those places are easy pickings!?

Why do you think we only allowed to guard the entrance?” Lucian asked scoffing.

Reina stuck out her tongue, she didn’t think there was anything wrong in her words. She wanted to experience the excitement of the awakened world or she would have just joined the escort and guard teams that populated different shelters.

Leylah walked out with her luggage, she smiled at the duo while turning her gaze downward.

The two nodded in realisation, they went separate ways to get their luggage.

Aster, Xander, John and Aaron walked to Leylah’s side looking in the direction the duo went.

John exclaimed, “I don’t think those two are going to feel the impact of our absence at all, they only have eyes for each other. Leylah you should try to communicate with me so you won’t be lonely.

Aster and Leylah have him a look of disdain but the idiot pretended not to see. Aster always argued those on the sun path had their brains purified by the sun so they had problems with their emotional quotient.

They were either strangely brave or most of the times usually stupid.

….

Xander was stern as he address the trio going to the marsh, “the entire mercenary teams on the district are on our side. That is under the condition that the interest is not worth keeping each other at odds.

But now things have changed, be vigilant throughout the trip, ensure you have back up plans if anything goes awry. Communication is difficult in this isolated places but I will trust that Leylah will understand what to do.”

Aster did not even be bother glancing at her brother, apart from the dense abyssal aura that seemed to exist everywhere, she had no concern for anything else. “Xander, stop nagging and let’s leave now, you know it is the best time to leave.

Starlight swept across the entire team and they soon found themselves in the shed where they kept their carriages. John and Leylah nodded at Xander after checking the carriages. Leylah signalled to Lucian and Reina, “I am going to use a spatial artifact to carry everyone’s luggage, give me yours. Don’t worry, I am not going to open it.”

Did you know this text is from a different site? Read the official version to support the creator.

She raised a bead that had stars and greyish mist rolling inside it. The mist spread over the luggage and carriage, storing them in it spatial pocket.

Lucian marvelled at how convenient this artifact was.

Aster’s eyes became pure blue, different symbols, runes and locations could be seen moving rapidly in her blue eyes.

Turning to the trio, she nodded at her brother and Reina before speaking, “be careful, apart from the normal schedule, always listen to Leylah’s instructions.” The duo nodded.

Aster raised her right hand and grabbed at the void in front of her. Her hand weighed down and became heavy. Xander looked worried, the distance between the mine and the tyrant team base was very long and besides, the places with spatial distortions along the way were not few. Transporting the team in phases was better so that she could better conserve her energy.

He wanted to stop her actions but he paused, Aster would not do it if she could not, he could only place his trust on her ability.

In the direction Aster grabbed, a tunnel filled with starlight gradually took form, the endpoint of the tunnel could not be seen but the force emanating from it made Lucian’s heart race. The tunnel seemed to reach a very far and unknown place.

“Reaching the mine directly from here is difficult because of the heavy influence from the shallow marshes. This tunnel will lead to a place closer to a mine storage camp.”

Aaron exclaimed, “wow!, You are really impressive. That’s more than five days from here.”

John also said, “not mentioning the time that will be wasted if we encounter any monster on the way.”

Aster looked cold but did not reply, she focused on the slowly stabilising tunnel before she motioned to the trio leaving for the mission to enter.

Lucian thought he would have an idea of what was going on in the tunnel before he entered, he wanted to closely observe the details of the tunnel after entering.

He only felt a strong suctioning force that made feel nauseating. He felt like he needed something to hold on to so he could steady himself. The entire tunnel had a dazzling golden and bluish interior, and after Aster entered the tunnel, behind her, the revolving opening tunnel slowly closed.

Her eyes reflected Lucian’s figure as he experienced a different feeling of traveling through space, she bent part of the tunnel while also displacing his position, leaving him in his predicament.

….

Bottom of a hill near a storage camp.

A small starlight drilled out of the void close to the bottom of the hill, the starlight expanded into a star revolving door. Four people emerged from it, one retching with the others snickering at his bad luck.

Lucian glared at his sister, he couldn’t believe she pulled up such an antic at the moment when he least had his guard up, throughout the journey in the tunnel, he found it difficult to mobilise any form of energy from his consciousness. Time and space seemed to have interwined, keeping him stuck in a loop.

Aster looked into the distance, not bothering at her younger brother’s anger, her lips curled up in a smile showing her satisfaction of pulling off a successful prank. She waved her hands at them and vanished from the spot.

After advancing to rank 8, awakened from all the paths will develop a core that closely resemble the prehistoric representation of their paths, this core also serves as an energy source for the awakened.

Lucian knew his sister was a rank 6, but crossing such a large distance made him suspicious, but thinking of the mutated skill she had, it began to make sense to him.

“I need to advance to rank 7 so I can have a mutated skill like this, she looks so cool whenever she is focused on opening doors.”

Leylah pointed her hand forward, “we only need to go forward from her for about two hours before we arrive at our destination. We need to stop by at the storage camp tonsee if there are any new development that we need to know.”

As they crossed the hill, space seemed to have become distorted, they could only use their abilities to offset the force before continuing to walk forward. Lucian frowned slightly, he had the feeling that a gaze from far away was settled on him, and he felt like it was his sister.
