Chapter 22: First Mission
It has been two weeks since the return of Aster and the rest of the team, Lucian, Reina and Adam advanced to rank 8 at the same time surprising Aaron. He waited for Xander and the rest to arrive before checking if there was any external influence involved but they came up with nothing.
The newly admitted teammates began to consolidate their abilities while training to restrain the influence they exerted on their environment.
Surprisingly, Reina’s abilities received a boost… a huge boost after her advancement. She was just like a mage with infinite mana. Spamming spells without a care for the cost. Though no one asked for the reason behind this, they could all guess she must have received a moon path related inheritance.
Aster had seen her brother on her return while she was surprised at her brother’s quick advancement, she did not show it. She joined in the celebration, drinking and partying with the rest of the team.
On the day of the party, her dark eyes sparkled as she looked over the team, she frowned a little when she did not discover anything unusual but soon stopped thinking about it.
Of course, nobody in the team felt any change in the environment when she used her abilities. Including Leylah the expert in divination.
She sighed a sigh of relief when she did not discover any problem with Reina, she could only guess that what ever boosted Reina’s advancement benefitted everyone in the team.
For a star path awakened who just advanced to rank 6, she should not be able to hide her abilities so well unless she was well versed in it.
….
Lucian and Reina could only fight to a draw despite fighting with all their energy, Adam was finding it difficult to converge his consciousness after advancing so Aaron asked him to train with a star path soul awakening painting.
Leylah, Lucian and Reina were going to be given a mission by Xander, Adam will be given a chance to join later after he converges his conciousness.
Xander stood at the head clasping his hands with glee, he was very happy at the team’s fortune, he hoped that within five years, the team will finally find a way to advance to rank 4.
“This mission is customary for the team, apart from guarding the entrance area of the blood crystal mine, the team also needs to explore the shallow marshes.
Some of the low rank artifacts we have were gotten from this marsh and we may also discover threats that we did not know about before.
If you spot this story on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
Knowledge on the marsh is very valuable but apart from the mercenary teams, most of the other forces don’t value it due to only finding low ranked artifacts.
The entrance is also not safe, monsters come there regularly and the other teams might scheme against you if you discover anything useful to them.
He smiled at this point. The mercenary teams need to be united if we don’t want a disaster that comes with distrust but interest and benefits supercedes everything in Dell plane.
We will be in contact and Aster is also available for quick transport when our aid is needed so there is no need to be afraid of anything.
Ah… snapping his fingers, the only one person should go to the marshes, the space there is unstable and chaotic.
It will be difficult to look for yourselves if you are separated.
Rank 8 strength is enough to explore, the sun path is also known for their speed so I don’t have to worry about your safety.”
…
The merchant from Bruno plane was supposed to arrive about two weeks ago but he sent a correspondence to tyrant team about his unavailability. Xander who nearly went mad after seeing the message cooled when he saw the payment for the mission the day after he received the letter.
He had already planned on sending Aster to the delivery site to deliver the package, he was beginning to feel uneasy this days. Leylah who was always fascinated with divination seemed to have suddenly become quiet.
Her eyes that were usually golden were back to pitch black. Apart from sending her to the marshes so she could find her spirit, he also wanted to use the opportunity to talk to her and find out what was going on.
“I need to advance to rank 5 as soon as possible, who knows what is going to happen next.”
He beckoned to Leylah, walking towards the vault, Aster who remained silent throughout his address stood up and followed Leylah. Her partial blue hair flowing with the wind.
The door to a secret passage opened and after a few seconds, Aaron’s figure became clear as he seemed to have teleported to this location. He raised his head and suddenly curled his lips.
Xander did not wait for Aaron to try anything mischievous, he dragged him into the separate room and closed the door but to his surprise, what Aaron wanted to do was not interrupted. Xander suddenly felt heavy, he felt like every cell in his body had the weight of a world, Aster vanished from Aaron’s sight, reappearing beside him.
In the team, Aster rarely took direct action on the enemy, always serving a supporting role. She always got the job done so no one had any objections, Xander who was weighed down suddenly relaxed himself, he was quite curious on the choice Aster will make when she had no choice but to fight.
He still tried to use his world domain to resist the influence of Aaron’s bizarre ability but he did not feel threatened by it. After all, they were both rank 6 who were going to take the next step.
Aster’s right hand became heavy all of a sudden, the feeling of heaviness on Xander disappeared. Aster pressed her heavy hand back in the same direction. Her eyes mirrored Aaron’s action as she pressed it forward, in place of Xander, Aaron became the victim of his own attack.
At the critical moment, Aster reversed the fortune of the two fighting, changing the position and also changing the effect of the attack. From Aaron used a special skill against Xander to Xander used a special skill against Aaron through spatial displacement and Xander’s was successful.
Xander sighed in disappointment, Aster never failed to surprise him. She always had ways to ingeniously use her abilities while also annexing the abilities of her teammates.
