Chapter 23: Ominous

Leylah beat up Aaron when she saw he became victim of his own attack, everyone in the team have always wanted to beat up Aaron at least once and now that the opportunity presented itself, she was not going to let it slip.

Xander who was angry at not getting to see Aster’s attack punched and beat up this pigheaded teammate of his to vent his anger.

Aster quietly watched him get beat up while still ensuring he could not get out by augmenting him with sufficient amount of bad luck. She frowned slightly when she thought of what was going on in the outside world, she always felt like everything was under control, at least not to the extent where she could be caught by surprise by anything happening in the plane.

What happened to Reina, Lucian and Adam could not be detected by Leylah but she could. At some point in time, fate seemed to have changed, if anymore deviations had occurred, everything she had set up would have gone to waste.

And now, ominous signals is being felt all over the plane. Surprisingly she couldn’t get any idea where it started or how to go about it. That usually meant one thing, the abyss was at work.

…..

Xander became serious after frolicking for a while. What they needed now as a team was a way forward or a way out, and he had neither.

He raised his hands and signaled to Aaron, the latter nodded, his hands became heavy, filled with patterns that gave one the illusion of the highest strength.

The hands became capable of carrying a world. He held the handles of the double doors and slowly pushed them to a close.

The double doors, constructed from unknown materials were gotten from a ruin by an unknown leader of the team, another leader constructed the room they were going to use for this mini discussion.

“Planet path artifact: Tyrant dimension.

A fragment from the dead body of a planet path awakened who died in the forbidden realm.

The leader of the team who led the expedition thought the fragment was extraordinary so she along with her teammates, brought it back to the vault.

Due to the fact that most leaders of the tyrant team are usually planet path awakened due to the path versatility, most of them learnt forging to help them construct artifacts and also to help them determine if there is a danger in the integrity of the storage.

Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.

The leader developed the fragment into a new room world that was stable and she also sometimes used it as a defence artifact until her fall.

Most leaders after her became more dedicated to expanding the storage until the leader who brought the double doors, apart from the doors, he also used it as a foundation.

The tyrant dimension became known among the later generations as the room of concealment. Without sufficient authority, no one could enter this room.

….

Xander spoke first, “I believe we all have the same premonition and that’s the reason we are here. When did you start feeling this? He asked looking around.

Aaron became solemn, an unknown but present influence seemed to be silently directing the intuition of those in the tyrant team, he secretly tried to find out this information from outside forces but he ended up empty.

“Ever since you came back, I have been struggling to resist the urge to just leave everything and run away. I have gone around the other forces, but I found nothing.

Reina’s advancement also gives me concern, I know I am being too paranoid but don’t you think we should find out more?

Aster sat up when she saw Leylah about to talk, “there is no need for that. What if we find out what should not be known, our deaths won’t pay for it.

The current tyrant team barely has bones left, there is no need to grind it into powder. Besides, Leylah said it was fine and she did not anything wrong.”

Leylah nodded at Aster’s words, “I know something is wrong, but trying to alienate our new members despite our abilities and the effects of the artifacts we possess might backfire.

We should be more worried about John, his intuition has been suppressed. If things go wrong, another member of the team will die.”

Aaron who listened to them put his hand on his chin, he felt like he grabbed something from what Leylah said.

“Apart from John’s intuition that is suppressed, why don’t we check on those from the sun path. I feel like we will get our answer if we start with this objective.”

Xander’s heart started beating fast when he heard Aaron’s words, he wanted to avoid death as much as possible. Leaders of the team usually died prematurely and sometimes burying the team along with them.

Only brave or blood thirsty people turn to mercenary teams for work, the death rate was too high and most times the family cannot even recover the body.

Yet, tyrant team always seemed to have back up plans and members that will help them in carrying on their heritage.

His generation was the first that had survived multiple life and death battles and it was due to Aster.

“We have the material for rank 5 advancement, let Aster advance to rank 5 before we even dare to attempt this. If we go on this mission without recruiting new members and giving them time to grow, we will be doing great disservice to our predecessors.”

Xander quietly praised himself for the great and persuading speech he just made. He did not even dare to think he could face this unknown enemy without even reaching higher ranks.

The reason why the team used this room was because of this effect. A member of a past team was once controlled and he ended up dying. The leader who realised that the team’s judgement and thinking was being influenced tried all kinds of ways to escape until he found the tyrant dimension.

The tyrant dimension became the place for rational decisions for any team member.

Aster did not give her own opinion on what was going on, she wanted to stay under the radar in order to avoid drawing attention to herself.

From a proverb Lucian read to her, “the tallest tree catch the most wind…” she was at a critical moment in her plans but things were slowly slipping out of her hands.
