Chapter 21: Advancement
Xander nearly curse out loud when he saw Aster taking action. The reason he was so confident about leaving this damned ruin was because her abilities were reliable. Aster always delivered when needed.
Trying to take independent action before consulting the team leader especially in an important exploration like this likely means a problem and if she had problems, the entire team would be dragged into it with her.
Aster’s outstretched hand seemed to clamp the space where the voodoo doll occupied giving the illusion of time slowing down around the hall way.
She turned to Xander without a change in her expression, “triggering this voodoo will alert something dangerous but I can’t tell it’s location. I suggest we keep it like this while we explore the temple.”
Xander heaved a sigh of relief he did not know he had been holding, Aster must understand what was at stake so he was sure she was not messing with him.
He silently nodded in consent to her actions. He signalled to John pointing at the dark hall way, John who understood his meaning walked in front of the group.
They walked down the hallway slowly while carefully checking their surroundings, John emitted light but kept it controlled. They needed to ensure their safety every way possible when exploring a new ruin.
A dark bony creature was lying languidly in front of a door that looked like a vault, dense energy came out of the room despite being locked.
The team looked at themselves, the target for their customer was here.
Xander clenched his left hand and slammed it on the floor, nothing happened for about three seconds. Outside the temple, a bluish shield slowly took form, part water and partial domain force seemed to act on the temple in a bid to pull it into a world.
Xander used an artifact to enhance this ability while Leylah complimented it by imbuing his actions with luck increasing the probability.
Fighting the bony creature that was emitted so much energy could destabilise the ruin causing it collapse. He wanted to avoid this by first separating the temple from the outside world.
Aster’s eyes mirrored the creature as she blinked directly to it side, her right hand became deeper as she clenched them while throwing a punch. The force behind her hands seemed to dragged something heavy but it was extremely fast.
The creature immediately used a dark energy shield in an attempt to deflect the strike, but at the key moment the shield took form, a blinding sun lit up the temple.

John pressed his two hands to gather the dense sun light that poured out of the void forming a sword that was capable of splitting mountains, he raised the sword high and plunged it down.
Aster who was about to punch suddenly stopped when she saw Leylah taking the same action, one eye reflected the sun sword that was about to strike the monster and another reflected the structure of the monster.
The sword on John’s hands suddenly burned through space and slammed the door.
The void lit up around them as the team were all pulled in, the force that came out of the door completely shattered the monster while also shaking the void around and dissipating the shield Xander set up.
Aster became even more focused on her sea of consciousness as stars with doors and mirrors with other symbols representing a dark cosmos rapidly formed in them.
At this moment, Aster, team member of the tyrant team advanced to rank 6. The force wave of her advancement coupled with the energy front the vault drowned the entire ruin destroying the suction force and also destroying the foundation.
Taking advantage of the energy that seemed to be everywhere, Aster enveloped everything in starlight and promptly vanished from there. Just as they left, a phantom of an island filled indescribable images silently sailed out of the void.
The golden lions were grateful for Aster’s help, if she did not take action at that moment, they would have all been lost in the chaotic void, besides she also helped them bring along their spoils of war which meant that their exploration was not in vain.
The team did not see off the golden lions, instead they used the time to recuperate.
The exploration was a success, in Xander’s hand, a small black box made of sand and metals contained their spoils including the awakening tome.
…
Tyrant team headquarters
Reina silently absorbed energy from the void, this action equivalent to poisoning in the world of the awakened was being done calmly without fear by the young lady.
The crescent moon that took shape in her sea of consciousness made her extremely sensitive to energy but she couldn’t grasp a hold of it even if she was sensitive to it.
But a few days ago, her intuition became sharp and she glimpsed a silver light ball flashing through the void. The crescent moon that was struggling to take shape finally took form. She no longer needed to fear the chaotic energy from the void because the moon will process every form of energy that entered her system.
…
Lucian could feel his spirit lift easily this days, he could now concentrate his energy on absorbing energy from the while staring at the sun meditating painting in front of him.
This painting made him focus and he knew he was not far from advancing to rank 8.
…
Waves of energy travelled through the entire building signifying the advancement of Reina and Lucian simultaneously, this energy seemed to stimulate Adam as he also began to advance at this moment.
….
The phantom like seed could not find an opportunity to enter the island, just when it was about to take action, waves of abyssal force attracted it’s attention. The dark abyssal fog immediately made the seed attempt connecting with this mysterious space.
After receiving a positive feedback, the seed drilled through the chaotic space and entered the realm. The realm filled with dark fog and monsters that gave one chills became even more violent, they seemed to be welcoming their king.
In the depth of space, a palm sized mirror silently reflected everything.
