Chapter 4: OD

"Nanette get inside." Xtabay ordered. Nanette didn't hesitate and quickly left the balcony. "What's going on?" Xtabay asked Oya. Oya ignored her and kept her attention on Piasa. "What deal did Xochi make with you?" She asked Piasa. Piasa appeared behind Oya. "That's none of your business." She said cheerfully as she swung her scythe at Oya's head. Oya caught the blade with her hand. Piasa struggled to pull her weapon free but couldn't. "Answer me!" Oya demanded glaring over her shoulder at Piasa who had a wide grin on her face. "What was the deal?" Oya asked again, the patience missing from her voice. "This." Piasa answered. Xtabay then kicked Oya in her side, flinging her off the balcony and into the outer palace wall below. "Hahahaha she might not have been the perfect vessel but her power and body still belong to me." Piasa laughed. The symbol that was branded on Xtabay's chest appeared all over her body. Oya stood from the rubble and looked up at the duo and sighed.

The sound of keys rattling rang out through the dungeon. "What are you doing Nan?" Mul asked as Nanette fumbled to put the right key in the lock. Successful, Nanette slid open the cell doors and tossed Eurus inside. "Oya needs us." Mul walked out of the cell, his hair long and covering his face. His clothes were worn and tattered. "I doubt that but let's go see what's going on."

Oya avoided Xtabay's barrage of flaming punches and kicks but didn't fight back out of fear of hurting Xtabay. "Don't worry kid she's sturdier than she looks." Oya couldn't see him but she knew Mul's voice. "If you say so." Oya responded with a grin and kicked Xtabay into the bottom level of the palace. Piasa scowled at the sight of Mul and Nanette standing at the base of the palace steps. Mul held Eurus resting on his shoulder and Nanette gripped her grandmother's Notus in her right hand. "She's being controlled." Oya called out to the two of them. Rubble shot out from the hole Xtabay made as she stepped out of it. Nanette drew Notus from its sheath causing a hot gust of wind to swirl around her. "We'll hold off mother. You take out That Piasa bitch." Oya and Mul smiled simultaneously but when they looked up at the balcony Piasa was gone.

Piasa stood among the golden dunes of the Celestial plane. She scooped up a handful of sand and it formed into another mask. She stuck her scythe into the sand before placing the mask on her face. "So starting shit and bailing is kind of your thing huh?" Piasa spun around to find Oya standing behind her, the sand turning to glass under her feet. "How?" Piasa asked, pulling her weapon out of the sand. "You shouldn't have been able to follow me here." "And yet here I am." Oya punched Piasa again but this time her golden mask shattered like glass as Oya's fist smashed through it and connected with her face. The impact turned all the sand around them to glass which reflected the blackness of the sky. Piasa slid back to a stop on the now smooth surface. "You worthless, insignificant, sad, lonely, welp of existence dare strike me? The Daughter of Chaos! The Devourer of Men!?" Piasa's body grew and twisted as she shifted into a giant four legged golden winged dragon with the face of a six eyed lion with red antlers jutting out of her mane and tail twice the length of her body with a scythe's blade at the end. Oya scoffed as light began radiating from her, shattering the glass under them and illuminating the vast blackness of the celestial plane revealing an infinite expanse filled with previously unseen gigantic geometric shapes floating in the emptiness. "You are the reason I've been alone this entire time! You are the reason Death has been my only companion my whole life! My loneliness is the result of your... no, your father's will forced upon those around me! So allow my will to free you from him and everything else! Piasa let out a world shattering roar and lunged at her but Oya extended a ray of light that upon making contact with her peeled away her scales, then flesh, then muscles, then burned away her blood, then bones until a glowing orb remained floating in place. Thanata appeared and her presence caused the vast illuminated realm to revert back to its previous state of black sky and golden sand. "Oya? What are you doing here?" Thanata asked as she casually absorbed Piasa's orb into her while her attention was focused on Oya. "Do you even need to ask?" Oya answered bending down to pick Piasa's scythe out of the sand. A current of light washed over the blade and altered its form to Oya's liking. Thanata floated down to her friend. "Yes actually I do. I know Piasa dies here but I couldn't see who ended her, then I get here and it's you." Thanata closed her eyes for a second before continuing. "But you're still on Hyunda. How?" Oya admired her new scythe as she spoke. "After Aour did what she did, here, there, where your parents are, it's all the same to me now." Thanata's face grew more puzzled. "You met Aour? Where is she now?" Oya shrugged her shoulders. "Dunno. I figured she go back to wherever she came from." "But she didn't." Thanata replied "I'm worried." "I'll keep an eye out." Oya unconvincingly reassured. She then turned around and was back at the palace. Thanata still floating in the celestial plane sighed to herself. "Busy busy busy." And popped away.
