System Uruq: Land Battle

Currently we are around the planet double checking our plans and equipment. The Dark Eldars have gone to ground in most places once they lost the Fleet battle. There are only 2 hotspots where there is heavy fighting going on. As you probably guessed it, its in the urban part or city as you would say. That rules out killing them via orbital bombardment so we are going to be dropping on them directly, going for the shock and awe tactics. Local air cover/support will be provided by the thunder hawks initially before more air assets are brought in planet.

This will be a a two phase battle where we hammer the two hot spots and then it will mostly be hunting for the Dark Eldars. I presume this will be time consuming. We will stay and help till we are sure there is not too may of these Xenos left before heading off.

5 Squads of sun spears, 10,000 Guardsmen and 300,000 (Imperial Guardsmen) will be initially used for the fighting in the two hotspots. We expect to route them with in 2-5 hours. Once they are pushed out side the main urban area then its death by Orbital bombardment.

While the land battle goes on most of the resources will be focused on repairing our ships specially the salvaged ships. I will also see if the Adeptus Mechanicus on the Imperial Fleet are open to trading in Tech/equipment. This could be hard to do so the alternate plan is to leave what equipment/plans we can with them. Hopefully some one in Adeptus Mechanicus will get curious and will adapt/incorporate these equipment. Of course more than likely they might just destroy the equipment.

Landing

Using the Drop Pods is a trip in its own way. We were doing so much G that if I was an normal human I would be dead on landing. We were aiming for the high grounds aka tall building. I had to do some manual adjustment as the drop pod was coming down as a lot of the building were damaged and would probably collapse if we landed on top of it.

I landed with a squad of Sun spears while I saw the other squads land on other building. When we were landing we did get some AA fire but not much. I had loaded out some of the decoy drop pods with drones and now that they had landed they started flying in the air. We had landed around the local park in the city that we would use as the staging ground for the follow up troops to land. Our goal was to secure this landing zone in the next 10 min as the follow up troops were already on there way. We started allocating the drones to there kill/recon zones when I noticed a group of eldar making there way towards our building. I decided to ambush them downstairs as that allowed more tactical flexibility.

As the eldar made there way into our kill zone we started firing at them. I managed to kill 2 of them myself but then lost track of the others as the eldar moved to quick to get a lock on. Although they looked thin/squishy they were powerful nonetheless. This group had about 25 eldars when it started and by the time they made it to melee range there was 17 of them. The drones also made there presence known by lobbying high explosive nades at us. As we were in full armour it did not matter to us, where as the same could not be said to the eldar. This was a short fight and we killed all of them.

We had secured the landing zone and the chapter/Imperial Guardsmen were able to land un-contested. As soon as the drones/weapon platforms landed we were sending them out to scout/harass the eldars. We were trying to harass/coral them into a group so that we could then smash them and push them out. This took us a few hours and then using the Sun Spears squads we charged/smashed the eldars. This was quite thrilling as having melee fight with them was quite dangerous, I think we would have lost quite a few of my brothers if we did not have the drones constantly firing at them. Once we had pushed them out we then fortified these positions and waited for the light show (orbital bombardment). As expected this was the quick part done.

Now the rest of the Imperial Guardsmen went through the city making sure any hidden Eldars were taken care of. For the ones out in the country side it was decided to use the air assets with infantry scouts for covered areas. Once they find the Elders it will be either heavy air attack or if possible death from Orbital bombardment.

One of my plans to spread the tech we had was put into play. All the scouts group sent were made up of mixed Chapter/Imperial Guardsmen. All the scout group were heavily loaded out with the drones/weapon platforms. I had also ordered the Chapter guards men to teach the Imperial Guardsmen on how to use them. As this part of the war would take around 4-6 months, just due to the amount of ground they had to cover. By the time this operation was over I expected the Imperial guards men to be qualified drone operators and when Chapter Guardsmen leave the Scout groups they will be leaving the drones/weapon platforms. I had also left the plans on how to build them with any Imperial forces that were interested.

The 4-6 months would be enough time to have our ships (including the salvaged ones) repaired enough for the journey back home. To speed up the repairs I have seconded the Chapter Guardsmen (excluding that are deployed with the Scouts) it also helps that nearly all of the chapter Guardsmen have some education.

I had been keeping my power busy working on making some plasma based weapon. As I had access to a plasma gun/pistol I was mostly done with this research. Once it was finsished I would have the knowledge to create otehr plasma guns and aslo to manufacture them en mass. If this works out I was hoping to upgrade all the Sun Spears/Chapter Guardsmen and the Fleet with plasma based weapons. This would essentially allow even the Guardsmen to fight effectively against traitor space marines/ xenos.

I had been hoping to get access to get access to some blackstone/noctilith but so far had not managed to get any. Once I had these I was going to spend how ever long it took to replicate these. I was also hoping to start some research on creating some form of communication device that would allow us to communicate light years apart with out the warp being involved. I was hoping quantum entanglement would help.
