2 years later

It has been 2 years since we came to the Bermuda system. 2 years of hard work has seen miracle happen. Some update on what has been done so far.

Fleets

1 Battle Barge: Fully functional and resources has been topped off. Most of the ammunitions are 100% except for the once that are lacking critical parts that are still missing.

3 Strike cruiser: 2 of them are back at 100% with one at 85% readiness. Same situation as above for ammunitions.

7 Gladius Frigate: 2 are 100%, 4 are 90% or above and the last one is at 40%. We have had to scavenge a lot of parts from the abandoned Frigate and also from the most damaged but still space worthy Frigate. Same situation as above for ammunitions.

We are not able to build 100% of the parts yet but we have made massive progress in this field. Mostly it was scanning the current equipment and seeing if we are able to build it. More works needs to be done but in the next 10 year or so we should have the knowledge able to make a new Frigate or a Cruiser from scratch. The battle Barge will take more time.

Army

We have also raised 7 army units equivalent to the Imperial Guard unit. They are hosted in the Frigates, with each Frigate hosting one Army unit. There are 3,000 personal in each Army unit. Currently they are just army units with some support heavy vehicles and air units.

These units all are equipped with powered exo-skeleton suit. These suits are able to fully function for 3 days of heavy fighting before needing power change. The suits also provide enough armour to take a few hit from a bolter round and survive. New targeting system/communication system have also been developed and added to these suits.

With the use of the exo-suits it has made it possible for each unit to carry heavy weapon as default. This has also made it possible for the units to use the same type of bolter weapons (except heavy bolters) as space marines, which has made it more easy on the logistic front but more expensive to arm each individual unit. This has also meant the individual has to be more tech literate and also we have had to train more independent (sudo) tech priest for each army unit so that they can repair/maintain their equipment.

Mining

Asteroid mining has gone well. We now have over a million mining octopus devices that are being for asteroid mining. There is also space metallurgy plants built around the asteroid. There are currently 5 already built. For now we have reached maximum utilization due to the personal numbers.

Planet Mining has also progressed well. New mining rigs have been created as using octopus design was not efficient. Basically these machines are boring machine with a conveyor belt at the back. As they drill they bore huge tunnels and excavate the minerals. Then those tunnels can be reused to create habitats etc. There are currently 10 Metallurgy plants. Again we have reached maximum utilisation due to personal numbers. We could exponentially increase this if we had AI involved but this is a taboo that even I am afraid to get into.

Hydroponics

This has been a massive success. We have manged to build efficient and cheap planet Hydroponics system. The space Hydroponics system is also built and has passed the testing phase. It will be mass deployed to the Space stations soon. Current version that we are working on is the warp protected Hydroponics, it is already 90% ready just needs additional work and some components that wea re researching on how to make it ourself. We should have this ready with in the next 3-5 years.

Detection Satellites

These have been deployed through out the system and we have full coverage. We have built quite a few spare ones along with probes to replace what we deployed and also for the upcoming exploration journey.

Exploration

It has been agreed that one Cruiser and 3 Frigates that are at best readiness will go to the Rouge trader spot and see if we can get some critical components and updated star chart for this sector. We have also made a list of technology/devices that they are suppose to acquire if possible. I will not be going but one of the Chapter Captain (Hark) will be overseeing this. They have been told to take a round about route. They are expected to be away for 4-6 months. If we do not hear from them after that then we will have to go looking for them. They have also been told to look out for any ships that are for sale/ derelicts. When we are able to we might visit the derelicts and if possible buy other ships to expand our fleet. Another important task they have is to collect female of child bearing age and look for suitable recruits if possible. Over the coming years we will have to organically grow our population or collect them from other worlds if we are to expand.

Future research

After much thought I have decided to focus heavily towards the elite route rather than spreading my Research time in different directions. I have managed to get the support of the chapter behind me, I will be initially focusing on making sure that more neophytes survive to be Space marine. The initial goal is set to 10-20% survival rate. One of the reasons I have gotten the support of the chapter is the need to make up for the losses that we have had. This does not mean I will pause all research for anything else. I will continue creating new research groups that will be focused towards making us 100% independent. There are a few research Plans that I will be focusing on in the next 10 year.

Selection Criteria: The thought behind this is to be even more selective on the recruits and at an earlier age. Most recruits start receiving their implant at the age of 10-12 years old. The idea is to find recruits at an earlier age (6-10) and then train them up so that they can then successfully become Space Marine. I will be focusing heavily on diet and conditioning of the recruits to make sure they are at an optimal state before they start their journey to become a space marine.

Cogitator SM: The idea behind this is to munge through all the data that we have regarding how Space marines have been created and will be created. Then we can use this to pull out the successful methods. This will be a long term goal where we will possibly not see any benefit for the next 50-100 years.

Diagnostic Devices: I will be upgrading the diagnostic devices that are currently used and any equipment related to implantation of the Organs.

Armor: We will be working towards making new armour for the Space Marines. I shall work on the standard Armor first. The initial goal is to beef up its defences with out compromising the agility/speed. The Armor will also be updated with new tactical/communication system. This will allow the space marines to hit targets further, detect enemies quicker, be able to call out for support quicker/easier etc.

Energy shield: We have some examples of energy deployed by the Dreadnaughts. I will see if I can copy this and make it available for the new Armor. This will also mean having to upgrade the energy source to the same level as Dreadnaughts armour.

Drones: New drones that will be salved to each space marine. Will be working on pre built attack patterns rather than anything smart. These will be disposable assets. They will be used to carry out suicide attacks/replenish ammunition/scout/extend comms range etc. These will also be provided to the Army.

Support Weapons: Another focus is on mobile supporting weapons platform. These will be land based platforms that is able to keep up with a Space Marine charge and able to provide devastating direct/in direct supporting fire using multi weapons (shells/missiles/laser/auto cannons etc). they do not have to be able to provide saturated fire but they are aimed towards tactical pinpoint fire. This will mean the support weapon platform might be easy to be destroyed, so there will have to be some balance between Armor/speed/ecm etc.
