As we exited from the warp we deployed probes to start scanning the Bermuda system to see if there was anything present. The Bermuda system is located within the Vidar Sector which is in the eastern sector of IOM. So far everything is all clear on the scans. It is as we had hoped for a dead system. We can initially see that there are 4 planets and 2 asteroid bets fields around the local sun. 3 of the planets are at least twice as big as earth while the other planet is around 3/4 the size of earth. We have started deploying additional probes as we head inwards towards the sun. We are concentrating the probes towards the asteroid bets as initially it will be easier to mine those than to start of mining in a gravity field (planet).
We should have the solar system mapped out in 2-3 weeks, which concedes with the speed we are travelling inwards. During these weeks we have emptied out the damaged Frigate and moved the people around the reset of the fleet. We will use the Frigate for its material later on.
So it has been 3 weeks since we entered Bermuda system, all the scan have been carried out. As expected the planets are not particularly rich in minerals but more than enough for us. The asteroid fields are more promising with dense clusters of minerals that we need. We have had ongoing fleet wide talk within the chapter and the Navigators about the future of the Sun Spears Chapter. We have come up with a rough plan that will be fine tuned as needed. Currently the plans are as follows:
Asteroid Mining: We will establish asteroid mining facility over seen by the battle Barge and 2 Frigates. Main goal is to expand the mining devices and have at least 1 million of these devices built and the controllers trained up to use them. Once this is done we will start on repairing the most damaged Cruisers followed by the Frigates. The mining and expansion is expected to take another 6 months - 1 year.
Planet Mining: While the 3 Cruisers and the rest of the 5 Frigates will deploy around the third planet. The third planet has water but normal human can not survive outside with out breathing equipment etc. Habitats will be built but there will be no massive expansion. For the First year the habitats that will be built will for food. With some mining going on. This will also provide a good place where we can rotate the Fleet personal for RR.
Research: Now that we have had good practise with researching and have had success I have pushed to form separate groups to research and build devices that we will need. I am kept UpToDate on the various research that is carried out while I concentrate on Hydroponics for now.
Research Powered Exo skeletons: Another group has been tasked with creating powered exo-skeletons for the Fleet personals.
Research Critical components: The missiles need critical components. The fleet needs other critical components. For some of these components we are able to build them if we create some tools. While for others we will have to research the tools need to build the tool in order to build the component. This will mean we will either have to trade/requestion these components till we are able to build them ourself.

Research Hydroponics: As I have finished the scan of Hydroponics I have been researching this using the GF Research Slot. There has been useful results already. Crude versions of Hydroponics (compared to Fleet version) that we can start creating on a planet straight away. I have also started working on the space version but this will take some time. I hope we will have a space version in the next 3-6 months time.
Research Fleet Repair: As we do not have the know how to repair every component of the Fleet we will be initially relying on just copying working components first and then researching on how to fix the rest. Overall we expect to have most of the ships fixed to 80%+ before we start hitting the Tech/Knowledge gap.
Exploring: There is a plan to explore the nearby stars and see if we can trade/requisition some material/people. Although this is planned for later phase, waiting at least a year before we start this.
Detection Satellites: We will also be hopefully creating and deploying these around the system so we can have early warning if something visits this system and we can then decide to either fight or run.
Due to the resource constraints (human/material) we will be only be able to focus our energy on these fields for now. The discussions with the navigators have been fruitful. They have provided some information about a local rouge trader planet/hub in the Vidar sector. There is a permanent station where some of the rouge traders pass through. The navigators also in principle have agreed to provide additional navigators but in return we will have to provide services. The services will be protection and possibility of raiding. This has to be further negotiated but overall support has been agreed.
I have started thinking about what critical Item that I could research that would be of the best benefit for the Chapter. As the Chapter would need to survive in order for me to help out the IOM. I wish I could just research an anti Chaos field or something like this but its pretty much impossible as I do not understand Chaos and I do not wish to understand it. If I can find the Necron Anti-Warp pylons then maybe I could copy that and improve it but I am not sure where to find it and how long it would take to research that.
My thoughts are currently going in a few different directions.
Space Marine: One is to improve on the Space Marines like starting with Primaris Space Marines and also making it much easier to produce new Space Marines. Better Space marines with better gear = more wining.
Space Fleet: Research to make better fleets. Stronger/cheaper + easier to build/ easy maintenance/Less personal required to man these ships. This will mean IOM can take back and hold new Sectors. The issue with this plan is that it needs to be carried out in bulk that means talking to IOM and IOM adopting new tech. I do not see this happening in the near/medium term.
The Astra Militarum: Create new armour/weapon for the Imperial Guards. This would be the easiest to research and upgrade. We have already started with the exo skeleton. The only issue with this is a Demon or an elite unit of Xenos would punch right through. Also this would mean having to have a big fleet to carry enough Imperial Guard unit to make a difference. This would no doubt make it easier for us to be detected and bring a lot of attention towards us.
I am still thinking this through. It does not help that I am unable to share any information about my powers with the rest of the Chapter. I have made use of the Storage space to store some weapons/food etc but currently its pretty useless. As I do not really need to make use of it. Although once I am fighting it will no doubt see a lot of use.
