Chapter 14: A Cat Girl Girlfriend

Chapter 14: A Cat Girl Girlfriend

Irie sits at her study’s computer, her backside resting in a chair at said computer’s desk. She clicks the mouse, summoning the quest info to pop up on screen. Apart from the desk with the chair and computer, this study, which she shares with you and Koko, also has a bookshelf stocked with a collection of books.

You and Koko stand behind the elven woman, peering over her shoulder, both your pink eyes and Koko’s green on the luminous screen. You watch as the elf manipulates the machine, ultimately pulling up what appears to be a map. Actually, it doesn’t just appear to be a map. It is a map.

[Name: Ako

[Name: Koko

“What are we looking at?” you ask, your pink eyes trying to make sense of the image on the computer’s monitor. It clearly shows a map with quite a few marks on it. The map itself appears to be of Dungeon Town. At least you think it is of Dungeon Town.

“This is a map showing the locations of the waifu suicides and …” she stops for a moment to double check the legend at the corner of the map, “… the residences of the missing waifus.” She points at the screen. “These ‘X’s mark the locations of the suicides. These ‘O’s mark the residences of the missing waifus. Based on the info Anna sent, looks like the waifus had supposedly been sleeping when they vanished.”

You pale at the mention of them vanishing while sleeping, your nightmare from before coming to mind. Anna had mentioned that waifus have been having strange dreams. You know exactly what she meant due to having had such a dream. Will you have more such dreams? Will you disappear?

“So,” you start, a hint of awkwardness to your voice, “any ideas for the quest. Kind of getting nervous over here.” You gulp and lean over, your face that much closer to the screen, your eyes still on said screen.

“Give me a moment,” Irie responds, her purple eyes flitting from one marking to another. “The three suicides occurred here, here, and here … and then there’s all these disappearances …” She droops her head down, her short locks rustling. “I got nothing. Sorry, Ako. I feel like I let you down.”

The author's content has been appropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.

“Don’t feel bad,” you say, forcing a smile. “It’s not your fault us waifus are being targeted. Any information on the dungeon outside of Dungeon Town?”

Irie perks back up and starts clicking through the quest information. “Does not look like it. I’ll message Anna.” She sets to work, composing a message to the guild receptionist, sending it a moment later. She leans back and crosses her arms as she waits for a response.

You step back and stretch your arms, a small yawn escaping your lips. You turn and find a certain cat girl staring at you, a goofy grin on said cat girl’s face. Said cat girl’s tail playfully twists from side to side as she leans forward.

“D-Do I have something on my face?” you stutter, taken aback somewhat by the attention.

“Don’t worry,” Koko chirps. “You look fine.” She steps closer, her tail still swishing. She clasps her hands together and cutely shifts her weight to one side and then the other. Her ears do a little twitch, and her cheeks take on a soft rosy tone.

“Are you OK? You seem to be acting peculiar.”

“Actually …” she leans closer to you. “I was wondering …” Her tail stops swaying, her green eyes on yours, an ever so slight nervous twitch to her ears and tail. “Will you be my girlfriend?”

“Eh?” You freeze, your face going red. You don’t know what you were expecting, but this isn’t it. Arguably, though, it very well should have been. Thinking back, you totally should have expected something like this.

“Oh … Well …” Koko steps back, her own blush becoming more intense. “I-I totally understand if you don’t want …”

“It’s fine. It’s fine,” you cut her off, your cheeks still a bit red. “I’d love to be your girlfriend.”

Koko’s face lights up, her eyes sparkling, her tail twisting about. She lunges at you, throwing her arms around you and nuzzling her face into your cleavage.

“What are you doing?!” You go bright red, feeling a tad unsteady.

“Showing my love.”

“In front of Irie?”

The named elf turns to you two, her purple eyes going first to you and then to the cat girl clinging to you. You feel said cat girl stiffen up a tad before she releases you and steps back. Her tail continues to twist playfully, and a mischievous look settles in on her face.

“Care to come to my room with me?” Koko asks in a sultry voice.

“S-So sudden,” you stammer.

“Will you two knock it off?” Irie interrupts, an edge of annoyance evident in her words. “Koko, get your mind out of the gutter. We’re supposed to be working on this quest right now. You don’t want Ako to disappear, do you?”

“No, but we’re just waiting for Anna to get back to you anyway.”

A sudden ding draws Irie’s attention back to the computer. “Speak of the devil,” the tall woman mutters as she opens up Anna’s response. A moment later, she has yet another map displaying a much larger portion of the dungeon than just Dungeon Town. This map has just one marking on it, a large red circle.

“This circle,” Irie begins, pointing to said circle, “indicates a section of the dungeon that has had an increase in disappearances recently. Perhaps it has something to do with the suicides and disappearances from Dungeon Town.”

“So we investigate that section?” you ask.

Irie shrugs, turning to you. “It’s worth a shot. Better than waiting for more waifus to die or vanish.” The tan-skinned woman turns back to the computer. “I’ll send this map to our cellphones.” She starts clicking away, and a few moments later, a trio of dings sound as the three smartphones receive the message. “Why don’t we head out tomorrow? Any objections?”

You and Koko glance to one another before looking back to Irie. You both shake your heads, Irie smiling in response. The tall elf gets up and stretches her arms before vacating the study, leaving you and Koko alone. Koko turns to you and smiles, her tail swaying.

“Why don’t you sleep with me tonight?” the cat girl inquires, a playful look to her eyes.

Your face flushes. “Y-You mean in the same bed?”

Koko nods, taking your hand. “Since waifus are vanishing in their sleep, maybe you shouldn’t be sleeping alone. I’ll wake you up if you have one of those nightmares.”

“That makes sense. It’s not like I have an actual bed right now anyway. OK. I’ll sleep with you tonight.”

“Great!” She squeezes your hand tighter, a smug look coming over her. “You know, we could do more than just sleep if you want.”
