The White Knight

From Akira's perspective

My body floated lightly in the air, but I managed to grab onto the handrail. Other members squatted down or held their heads in pain, but it didn’t seem like anyone was seriously hurt.

"What on earth happened? Hey, driver!" Salsa moved toward the train’s cockpit, and we cautiously followed.

Then, a horde of monsters started swarming towards the train. There might have been about thirty of them.

"We might be able to handle them by numbers alone, but the problem is their composition. I hope there are no high-level monsters," Alegris analyzed calmly.

Hearing that, I tried to identify the types of monsters. I could see short, green creatures.

"They look like goblins, maybe we can beat them?" I offered, trying to reassure myself, but was quickly corrected.

If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

"Idiot! They’re not just any goblins; these aren’t the type you can easily defeat. There’s even a Great Chimera among them. This is no joke. Are we students really expected to fight these?" Sonata analyzed pessimistically.

Just then, Salsa returned from the cockpit looking grave.

"It’s no use. The driver is dead. Damn it. Who did this? Pepper is nowhere to be found, what the hell is going on?"

"I’m right here," Pepper said, stepping out from behind and slashing at Salsa with a short sword.

"Argh!"

"Not so fast!"

Alegris, who had a rapier at his side, intervened. Although it was just a feint, it was enough to slightly deflect the trajectory of the short sword. However, the blade still slashed across the lieutenant’s back.

"What are you trying to do, Pepper?"

"Sorry, but I’ll be taking that young lady’s life!"

The young lady in question could only be Elise or Sonata.

"Please protect me, my white knight," Elise said, half-jokingly.

"Me? How could I possibly have such power?"

"When I give the signal, just fire the Basic Fire. It’ll be fine. You can do it. I guarantee it," she reassured me.

Alegris then cast a spell, creating a blade of ice.

"Take this! Basic Ice!"

I wanted to point out that he was using a basic spell too, but I was grateful for the assistance. The ice spear flew towards Pepper but was split in two by a spell.

"Don’t think you students can beat me," Pepper sneered with a menacing smile.
