Jason looked over at Supatra with a mix of relief and playful arrogance. After their passionate lovemaking, the two gasped for breath. His body drenched in sweat and his heart pounding. He traced her lips with his fingers as his other hand touched her chest, arousing her entire body. Instinctively, she sucked on his finger and felt Jason react by squeezing her breast. He pulled his finger from her mouth and caressed her body. Everywhere he touched her left tingles and made her want to beg to be inside her body again. She lifted her hips to tell him, scattering the wetness there.
Jason panted when he stroked the small part of her back above her hips, “I knew you liked me.”
In response, before he could bask in his supposed victory, she hurled a rock at him with fiery defiance. Her eyes ablaze with post-coital satisfaction: “You still don’t know women like you think you do.” Supatra, with her long brown hair cascading over her shoulders, bore the aftermath of their passion on her skin, yet there was an air of concealed attraction lingering beneath the surface. Her gaze flickered toward Jason, a mixture of defiance and something more profound. The subtle vulnerability softened her features, betraying the emotional turmoil within.
Undeterred, Jason grinned mischievously as she playfully exposed her backside. A mischievous glint in her eyes, she turned away from him, revealing a hint of a smile. Supatra’s gaze met Jason’s as he looked at her with a mischievous gleam in his eyes. His leg was tucked comfortably between hers, their bodies tangled in the soft glow of the room. “You taste so good,” he murmured, his voice a low drawl.
Her eyes rolled in response, but the slight upturn of her lips betrayed her amusement. “You’re a fucking asshole,” she said, but her words held no venom. She playfully swatted his chest, the sound echoing in the quiet room.
Jason caught her hand, his hold gentle but firm, stopping her from pulling away. “Come on. Where are you going?” His voice was a soft plea, a contrast to his usually brash demeanor.
“To flush down your demon seeds,” she shot back, her tone teasing. She saw his eyebrows shoot up in surprise, a smirk playing on his lips.
“Really, Supatra? You’re incredible, you know. So smart and yet so dumb,” Jason ribbed, his eyes sparkling with mirth.
She rolled her eyes at him, but a small smile played on her lips as she snorted. “Why do you have to be a dick?”
Jason’s smirk widened. “Maybe because I’m needing to take more of my frustrations out.”
She arched an eyebrow at him, crossing her arms over her chest. “That’s not what you were screaming before.”
His eyes narrowed, a glint of challenge in his gaze. “Oh yeah? What was I screaming, sexy wolf?”
Supatra chuckled, her fingers tracing idle patterns on his chest. “Don’t stop. Don’t stop. Oh stop, stop. I’m going to –”
Jason cut her off, his hand gripping hers. “When do you think you’re just going to come out and say it?”
She blinked at him, feigning innocence. “Say what?”
Jason’s smirk turned into a grin. “How deeply in love with me you are.”
“Are you so arrogant?” She shot back, her gaze challenging him. Her facade crumbles for a moment, revealing a depth of emotion she tries to hide. “I... I don’t know what to say.”
“I’ll stop when you admit it.” His voice was soft, but the intensity in his gaze was unwavering.
“Well, you better get comfortable. It’s going to be a long fucking time,” she retorted, her eyes glittering with defiance.
For a moment, Jason’s regard eased. “Is that what you want?”
“I want to be a normal wolf. To do what the King wants. Our pack to never be weak,” she said, her voice firm.
“And me? I’m a twisted sociopath who gets what he wants to hell, who gets bulldozed along the way,” he said, his voice holding a note of self-deprecation.
Supatra’s gaze softened. “That doesn’t sound like the truth. Does it?”
He looked at her, a soft smile gracing his lips. “No one can ever ride me the way you do. There is no game you cannot win. You’re a glittering, venomous snake that poisons me when you grip me. Pushing me away from what I feel.”

Their eyes locked, a silent understanding passing between them. Their banter was just a game, a dance of words they engaged in, but beneath it all, they both knew they wouldn’t want it any other way.
“You think you see everything so perfectly clearly? Things that you see, but no one else?” Her cheek felt the warmth from his body as she laid her head on him.
“No. Antonio is the one who can claim that. Me, I see how you slither and spy on my heart. You are a masterclass of patience, precision and wind reading. You stalked me. Dampening your paws, hiding your silhouette, and making yourself perfectly invisible to your prey.” He absently thumbed her chin as he felt content in her presence.
“You’re my prey? You don’t know me at all, do you?” A slight smile caught the corners of her lips.
“No. Of course not.” He kept his eyes locked on her. “I was outflanked. You cut off my escape. I thought I could attack and take you down. But... all these years... the delicate balance of your body language, your instinct, your prowess enchanted me.”
“Body language?” Her tone grew inquisitive.
“The flick of your tail. A raised ear. The growl in your voice. It was a symphony of silence. Not even the darkness could see you.”
“You can see me?” Supatra tucked her chin and shifted her thigh to feel more of him.
“Always. You’re strong, Supatra. Pure. You remind me of what I could be. I’ve done things I’m not proud of, things I can’t take back. But I’m trying to be better.”
“I don’t believe you.”
“It’s true.”
“I doubt anything you say to me is true. I think everything you say is a lie.”
“I love you.”
“Stop lying to me. You don’t have to lie anymore, not with me.”
“I’ve felt you out of the hundreds of thousands around the globe. I can distinguish you as an astronomer, who can see a shadow in absolute darkness. I can sense you in absolute zero in the vacuum of air itself. Out of the soft hush of the world, you were there, a beacon to hold my universe together. Supatra, you have always been my defiant fire. Locking me with a fumbling ember against the coiling snakes of nothingness and the enemies we battle.” Jason looked at Supatra as his hand smoothed her locks of hair. “You have always been with me. I can’t escape. The only thing I will feel is my love for you.”
“You mean you only feel my moist embrace. That’s what you truly wanted. To feel how my sex holds the universe together.”
“I’m a wispy ghost under falling snow. If that is the universe, then drown me.”
She slipped away from him and rose to her feet. Her nakedness showed her confidence and self-assurance as she stood. Her eyes locked with his. “We need to keep moving.”
“Can’t we skip scavenging for clothes?” he said as they walked in their birthday suits. His suggestive remarks were met with an icy glare from Supatra.
Her voice took a serious tone, “Keep your vile mind off me. We need to find Lángrén. You know what Antonio will do to us if we fail the pack and don’t serve.” Undeterred, Jason smirked, but their mission took precedence as they sought to locate their target.
“I’ll do it. Lángrén needs us, and the pack comes first. Always.” He nodded in agreement. “I have tried and failed to track her trail before, but I always lose her scent. How can you be so certain our hunt will end in success?”
Supatra’s voice was determined and guided by this task. “With rumors alone, they can at least start us in the right direction,” she declared. Her determined gaze flickered with passionate memories of what she’d done with Jason.
As they stepped onto the porch of a vacant suburban home, they abruptly stopped, scanning the area. They sense something in the air. Amidst the breeze, they heard it – faint harmonic howling. The wind threatened to smother the sound, but Supatra closed her eyes, focusing her senses. She concentrated, silencing the wind.
The musical howls became clear, albeit at a low volume.
Supatra moved with conviction, “Come on. I know where she’s at.”
Jason followed Supatra into the dark and quiet house. Emerging soon after, they are dressed and ready. As they depart, the gruesome aftermath of their visit is revealed – a bloodbath that will haunt the living, a testament to the danger’s human face.
“Jason, you once said I reminded you of something remarkable.”
“Right.”
“What was it?”
“A bird.”
“A bird? Is this a trick?”
“No.”
“But understand how this conversation can go very badly for you.”
He grinned as they continued moving forward.
She caught sight of his smile, “If you say I remind you of some pigeon, crow, raven or cackle;ing mockingjay –“
“A Foolish Guillemot.”
“A what?”
“A Foolish Guillemot.”
“Foolish?”
“It’s an Auk, Supa. An Arctic bird.”
“I’m frigid? Cold-hearted?” Something about me being icy?”
“It’s said they are easy to catch, but there’s more to it than that.”
“This isn’t going well so far for you.”
“The Foolish Guillemot lives its whole life in the harshest climates on the planet. In the Artic, no matter how close to absolute zero it gets, the damn bird spends its time on the water. At the peak of winter, you can see it diving into the iceberg water a hundred meters below the surface looking for food. It looks simple like a lot of other birds. But inside, the fucking bird is indestructible. When the storms get too bad for it, the Foolish Guillemot travels far south, usually by itself. Alone. While the other birds hide from the storms, waiting for the cold to disappear, and the winds, people will see this bird. Diving into frigid waters. In the storms and ice water, hunting for prey. They’ll then say, “How foolish is that bird?” But that’s only because they don’t know you.” His eyes caught her gaze.
“---” She hums softly like a silk sheet under a cotton mike blanket. “I think you’re foolish.”
“Maybe. But, I know it’s not dignified. I have nothing to lose, but I will always regret not telling you.” Jason fell into an easy rhythm as they jogged.
“I will not worship you.”
“It’s a terrible mistake not to.” His mirth caught at her heart strings before she could snip it.
“You’re right. It is a terrible mistake not to.”
