All that they knew about the healing process was that it was not painless. They knew this because of a pained yelp that echoed from the back offices into the waiting area where the others of the unit sat. If they weren't the only ones at this particular clinic they wouldn't believe that the noise came from such a ferocious acting girl. The sound was light and almost what one would expect of a girl like Alys if she was overly cutesy instead of a bad tempered bandits daughter.
It had turned all of their heads towards the receptionist who looked their way for a moment, smiled as if to try and relieve their curiosity but failed to say anything before turning back to her book. They could only guess that the healers had to use a fairly painful method given that this girl had been used to fighting in small arenas with all sorts of horrible creatures. Surely a little pain couldn't have caused her such a reaction.
While they waited Jien decided to use their time productively. He turned to the present members and brought up his thoughts regarding Julie's optimal placement within their unit. He hoped that they could enlighten him to something he wasn't thinking of, and indeed they were able to help him see a few possibilities.
Alys was the first to speak her mind among everyone. "Just make her a blend of scout and vanguard. As long as she doesn't get too ahead of us she can scout out enemy camps and beat the first few to the dirt and then we arrive to back her up. I think you are considering her fighting style too much of a problem. Her style is meant to be flexible, as long as we don't actively get in her way she will be able to adapt to us in most situations."
Lesley was the next with a suggestion that made everyone have to rethink how a unit could function given a total of ten members. "Why not have the unit made of two smaller teams of five. Jien leads one and Julie leads the other. You have admitted that she has good battle sense, if she learns a bit of strategy she could probably work semi independently as a Controller and Knight like you do." The end of his line of thought was punctuated by a point of his finger at Jien's chest.

This strategy was definitely unique. If they did this then they would need to rethink their unit from the ground up. Now would be the time to do it given their new members. Jien's old teammates were trained to be flexible and while they weren't great at every position on a standard team they at least knew how to act in them. This meant they could build sub-units around the strengths of the new members of the group while adapting at least to an extent.
Rosalind chimed in at this time with the most obvious point. "We should just ask her. Her skill set is pure enough in context that she could potentially fit any role. Just because she doesn't know what the roles are in detail doesn't mean that she didn't figure it out in our fight. Just ask her and if she has questions then we will do our best to fill in the blanks."
The answer left Jien a little shocked. Why had he missed the obvious? He had been so stuck in trying to create a firm formation that he forgot he was dealing with a person and not a variable in some equation or textbook battle strategy. It truly left him so speechless that all he could do was nod absentmindedly in return.
It wasn't another hour and a half before Julie exited from the back offices of the clinic. They could only guess that healing from such a scenario was definitely not as easy as even more severe wounds. While they understood that she had brought her body past it's limits they still didn't understand how exactly that worked.
When she walked out she did so with a regular amount of pep in her step, neither looking too tired nor too energetic, simply back to cradling her slightly crooked spear with a cool expression on her lips. She didn't appear to have the same animalistic ferocity but she also didn't appear to have warmed up to them even after everyone was introduced and they had fought each other. It was as if she didn't appear to trust them, and perhaps she didn't.
Regardless of how she felt on the topic she was fully aware that she was stuck with them. The academy's system was firm, the unit you were assigned to would be yours until graduation, no transfers and no escaping unless you found yourself in a unit that had been decimated by something. In that case you would be matched up with a different unit that lacked members. The likelihood this would happen to first years who would basically be in classes for the entire first year was highly unlikely.
She seemed to internally groan at the fact that she had to deal with this scenario. The others could almost hear her internal thoughts as she stood there staring at them coldly as if staring at her greatest nemesis. Still, after a moment she spoke up in a bit of a huff. "Weren't we going to find out where we are staying? I haven't had a proper rest in a few days now."
