Chapter 6: More Goblins!

Chapter 6: More Goblins!

"Alright, let’s go,” I said and we walked ahead. Before long, two goblins appeared in our path. One standing on the left and the other on the right with 10-yards of space between them.

"You take one on the left and I will take one on the right," I said as I moved my eyes from one goblin to the next.

Rick gulped down his saliva but didn’t say anything. And so I looked at him. Our eyes met. He slowly nodded his head and said in a low, barely audible voice, “Alright.”

I moved my eyes to the goblin standing on the right and unsheathed my weapons, taking one with each hand. Rick did the same with his sword. We approached our respective goblins.

Once we got close enough, the two goblins charged at us as they shouted, “Kikiki!*, prey, *Kikiki!*”

The goblin that charged at me, reached me and struck its claws towards my chest.

I dodged by sidestepping to the right as I had already practice dodging goblin attacks. Then, I slashed with my left stave and then the right. A few notification messages flashed in front of me. <> <<-64>>.

"That hurt *Kikiki!* Kill! *Kikiki!*" the goblin shouted out and I stomped my foot down using the skill, <>, <<-70>>.

It fell down to the ground, dead. Its body got enveloped in a golden glow and a few notification messages flashed in front of me.

I turned to look at how Rick was doing. He slashed with his sword and the goblin fell down to the ground.

He stared at the goblin that he killed. "It's dead? Just like that?" he mumbled.

I approached him. "Let's take a short rest.”

He looked at me and nodded his head. “Alright.”

I walked behind the tree and opened the menu. From it, I selected the talents option, which was greyed out before. I saw that I had four choices.

So I have four options for a talent specialisation: brute, swift, immortal and mystical. Out of all these four, mystical is no good as I am yet to put any points in the Intellect attribute. And if I start putting points into that attribute now, I would have to focus on more attributes which would weaken me in the long run. The other three specialisations are very solid though.

Strength, Dexterity or Constitution. Rage generation from dealing damage, movement speed or rage generation from receiving damage. Weapon damage that gets increased with wrath, three guaranteed critical strikes or damage immunity for 15 seconds. It's a very tough decision as all three are all very strong specialisations, but which is the strongest one? Mhm… Strength increases physical skill damage, damage from auto attacks and physical critical strike damage. Dexterity increases physical skill damage, attack speed and critical strike chance. Constitution increases maximum health. The choice is between Strength and Constitution, and between these two…

I selected the brute option and the talents window changed. In it was a black line that went from left to right to up to left again to up again, and so on. On the line itself, there were squares and each square had a number above it. Out of all the squares, only one wasn't dimmed.

An outstanding skill. I allocated my skill point into brute slash, unlocking it, and closed the talents window. From the menu, I opened the character window.

Looking over my attributes I allocated 4 points into Strength, 1 point into Dexterity, 3 points into Constitution, 1 point into Spirit and the last 1 point into Charisma.

I closed the character window and the menu. I walked out from behind the trees, and saw Rick staring at the goblin that fell by his hand.

"Rick!" I called out.

He turned towards me and said with a serious expression on his face, "I really think we should turn back."

"I said before. You can go back, but I am going ahead.”

He immediately shook his head. "I am not going to let you go alone."

Shrugging my shoulders, I said, "If you want."

"I do, I can't let you go against these monsters alone."
