-.-.-Chapter 23-.-.-

Yep, it turned out that Elekid had quite the prankster-like personality, which all three of us had learned over the next half an hour of interacting with the little guy. And if I was being honest it was kind of funny when I wasn’t on the receiving end, seeing my parents laughing at each other while their hair stood out every which way was rather comedic.

However the laughs soon came to an end as I took the three of us home to prep for my next dungeon dive, the grind waits for no one after all, and I needed to get my now two pokemon trained up and prepared before focusing on myself, with just over a month to train the pressure was on.

“Is that all you’re taking?” my dad asked from the bedroom door as I finished securing my singular nunchuck into my karate belt while I held my wand in my right hand and took up my last remaining tonfa in my left.

“Only really feasible options at the moment,” I said as I tightened my belt, “I want to try my spells some more, and if they fail me I can always go full melee this way” I explained, while making a mental note to see about getting some kind of wand holster for the future, perhaps on our next trip to the Alley.

“Just be careful sweetheart,” mum said from beside him, a look of worry on her face, “just thinking about those Skeevers makes me want to shiver.”

I nod, I was the same, “Don’t worry, I will” I said before with a quick though through the system both Cyndaquill and Elekid appeared before me, “Right you two, ready to do some pest control”

“Cynda!”, “Elekid!” were the twin cries I got back from them, both were eager to prove themselves, Elekid more so after I had explained about the dungeon to him, the little guy was ready and raring to go.

“Alright then,” I nodded with a pleased grin as I opened up the dungeon list again and gave one last glance to my parents, “wish me luck” I said before hitting the mental command as I disappeared from my bedroom and the next second found myself once again in the dark dank familiar starting point of the rodent cave dungeon.

Cyndaquill, without needing to be told gave a little cry before flames sprouted from his back lighting up the room, I nodded in approval as I raised my wand towards the tunnel entrance and brought my tonfa up at the ready, “Alright, Elekid you take the lead, Cyndaquil will follow you, to give light, any hostiles you are to quick attack once and then pull back, and let Cyndaquil pepper them with ember.

“Ele,” “Cyn”. They both nodded and got into formation as we began moving forward through the narrow tunnel, and just like before at the halfway point I spotted a pair of beady eyes through the darkness ahead of us.

“Elekid!” Elekid cried out as he spotted them too, just as the Skeever bounded forward to attack.

Elekid, not to be outdone, rushed forward, light trailing from his body as he ran and lunged into a tackle, shoulder checking the rodent abomination with speed to spare, knocking it into the wall with a meaty thud.

The second Elekid was clear of the rodent, Cyndaquil launched his attack, sending out a spray of a dozen embers from his mouth towards the downed Rodent all of which landed with ease in the small confined area.

The skeever instantly began screeching and thrashing as it was suddenly set ablaze, the embers igniting its oily fur, while I watched it’s health that had been reduced by half from the quick attack from Elekid before, trickle down rapidly from the flames and in seconds emptied as the Skeever stopped thrashing as the flames went out and it began to disappear.

Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

I grinned, that couldn’t have gone any better, only to immediately frown as I took in a breath and the smell of cooked skeever fur and flesh filled my nose making me want to gag.

‘Okay, note to self, roasted overgrown rats stink!’ I mentally complained as I tried to ignore the smell.

“Good job you two, let’s keep going, if things are the same as last time we’ve got a group ahead of us in the next chamber” I told them as both Cyndaquil and Elekid nodded and we began to move forward.

As we did so I smiled slightly, if the dungeon just reset after each time and the mobs were the same, that would mean that they could easily be planned around, encounters memorized and planned for in advance.

If that was the case, then the dungeons would be a cake walk each time after the first, when we came in each time knowing what to expect and how to handle it.

‘This could be even easier than I thought’ I thought to myself with a grin.

-.-.-

‘Murphy you are one twisted bastard’ I mentally raged, I hadn’t even said it outright and yet I was still getting penalized.

As I crouched at the end of the tunnel and counted no less than eight Skeevers in the next room, way more than had been here the first time, and the kicker they were all higher levels than what was here before as well.

{Skeever Lv6}

{Skeever Lv6}

{Skeever Lv6}

{Skeever Lv7}

{Skeever Lv7}

{Skeever Lv8}

{Skeever Lv8}

{Skeever Lv9}

‘Three level sixes, two level sevens, two level eights and a level nine, this is so much bull shit it’s not even funny’ I mentally raged, this was supposed to be the starting dungeon.

‘Okay Leo, calm down they may be stronger but so are we, Cyndaquil is stronger now than the last time, we have Elekid with us and I now have a wand, we can handle this, we just have to be smart about it’ I told myself as I surveyed the overgrown rodents, which thankfully hadn’t spotted us yet.

Pulling back slightly I looked at my Pokémon and nodded slightly as I tried to come up with a plan, ‘they have numbers on their side, if we rush in there they’ll surround us and swarm us, we need to take away their number advantage’ I thought before I glanced around at the tunnel we were still in, ‘that’s it.’ I realized with a grin.

“Alright,” I whispered to my team, “here’s what we’re going to do.”

-.-.-

The skeevers were just skulking around their room minding their own business, when one of the level sixes noticed movement by the entrance to their chamber as Elekid bold as brass walked into the room.

The skeever let out a cry to alert its fellow rodents about the intruder as it moved to attack the intruder, which was matched by its fellows with hisses and screeches as they moved to join the attack.

But as the first Skeever got half way to Elekid the small electric type grinned and blitzed forward in a quick attack knocking it back and into the others behind it.

As the Skeevers got to their feet hissing in outrage, they turned their attention back to Elekid who had pulled a U turn and was now back at the tunnel entrance.

“Elekid~” the small electric type taunted as he stuck his tongue out at them while making a face, further enraging the rodents as they screeched and raced towards the target of their anger.

Elekid just started laughing as he turned tail and ran deeper into the tunnel with the skeevers in pursuit.

However they were soon to learn the horror of their mistake, as they heard a command from deeper inside the tunnel.

“Now, Incendio!”
